[–] Putin Told Trump North Korea Couldn’t Launch Missiles, and He Believed It NamelessTacoShop 5 points ago in worldnews

It's probably a tape of him talking to the loan officer of some Russian bank literally crying and begging for money because he's broke. He'd be far more afraid of that surfacing then some prostitutes

[–] A.I. Could Widen Economic Disparity in U.S., Report Says NamelessTacoShop 2 points ago in Futurology

Machine vision is going to be a major factor holding back automation of trades. Sure we can automate assembling plumbing in a factory. But being able to identify the plumbing under a sink in all the many conditions of someone house is a much harder problem.

[–] People who are "night owls" and those who are "morning larks" have a fundamental difference in brain function. This difference is why we should rethink the 9-to-5 workday, say researchers. NamelessTacoShop 1 points ago in science

I used to have that problem too. Strangely enough when I got treatment for an unrelated anxiety problem it went away. I suspect it was stress related that whole time.

I still skip breakfast a lot but that's calorie control rather then can't eat.

[–] Nation Again Torn Between Freaking Out Over Bad Trump Idea or Staying Calm Because He’ll Be Too Lazy to See It Through NamelessTacoShop 1 points ago in politics

5.6 billion was just the initial request to build the first 200 miles of new wall. The estimated price for the whole wall ranges from 50 to 100 billion, plus several billion a year in maintenance forever.

Regardless your point is absolutely accurate they haven't even chosen the locations for those first 200 miles.

[–] A 9-month pregnant British teen who fled to join ISIS in Syria says she wants to go home — but the UK says it won't rescue her NamelessTacoShop 2 points ago in worldnews

I never believed the problem was something special about Islam in and of itself. The economics and politics of the region produced fertile ground for radical fanatics. Naturally the dominant religion became the source of those fanatics. I doubt it would have been any different if another religion was popular there.

[–] Gay marriage is 'parody marriage,' says Kansas bill introduced on eve of Valentine's Day NamelessTacoShop 1 points ago in nottheonion

This is just showboating. They have no intention of this passing and they know it's illegal. It probably won't even come to a vote.

[–] Trump Is Refusing To Pay Contractors For Work During The Shutdown: The president has a long history of stiffing people who work for him. NamelessTacoShop 36 points ago in politics

He will farm out the contracts to companies his friends and family own. Or ones he owns himself hidden through shell companies. This isn't even new for Washington. Let us not forget Halliburton and KBR

Some of the best sports announcers in history never played at a professional level. Encyclopedic knowledge of the game doesn't necessarily translate to the fast reactions or split second decision making necessary to be an excellent player

[–] Trump's Russian Interpreter May Be Subpoenaed by House Democrats for Details of Private Putin Meetings, Report Says NamelessTacoShop 1 points ago in politics

Did you reply to the wrong person or did something in my comment imply I was supporting our system?

I don't know what % of health spending goes to pharma. But that doesn't erase the fact that drugs here are way more expensive then elsewhere.

[–] Trump's Russian Interpreter May Be Subpoenaed by House Democrats for Details of Private Putin Meetings, Report Says NamelessTacoShop 5 points ago in politics

If a generic is available most insurance won't cover name brand... And odd coincidence here. With my insurance I pay $19(USD) for 90 5mg tabs of Escitalopam. I have no idea what it costs without my insurance.

[–] Trump's Russian Interpreter May Be Subpoenaed by House Democrats for Details of Private Putin Meetings, Report Says NamelessTacoShop 8 points ago in politics

It's not even that really. Insurance, medical and pharma industries just throw a whole lot of money to prevent universal healthcare. Out medical costs are crazy inflated. Health insurance industry would shrink massively under any public option or single payer system. Medical and pharma industries know a single payer system would not allow the prices they charge now. They don't want that gravy train to end.

[–] Manually fitting my map into a grid [OC] NamelessTacoShop 3 points ago in DnD

I started hearing the OG Zelda theme when I saw the grid map.

[–] What's an "I'll never be one of those people" rule you broke? NamelessTacoShop 9 points ago in AskReddit

ugh the lying. My previous relationship had obviously gone south. Then she got cancer, bad. So I stuck it out for months because she needed the support. Turns out all that happened is they scraped out some pre-cancerous cells after an abnormal pap-smear.

[–] Drug lord 'El Chapo' found guilty in US NamelessTacoShop 2 points ago in worldnews

As others have pointed out our extradition agreement with Mexico for him was on the condition we don't seek the death penalty. Mexico does not have the death penalty

[–] This Republican lawmaker said he would drown his own kids if they’re gay NamelessTacoShop 3 points ago in politics

"look what you made me do!" The favorite line of spouse beaters and child abusers. Apparently works for racists too.

[–] Drug lord 'El Chapo' found guilty in US NamelessTacoShop 19 points ago in worldnews

The warden of that prison is already in charge of the worst criminals we can find. I'm sure his security is something they already consider. Not that el Chapo isn't huge new consideration that may require changes.

[–] There is a socially accepted gender bias in the family court system, and I just wanted to remind everyone that its not ok. NamelessTacoShop 0 points ago in pics

That's just how a bias works though. It doesn't mean that the woman wins in every situation. Lots of deserving fathers get custody. It just means that all things being equal the courts side with the mother more then the father.

[–] Drug lord 'El Chapo' found guilty in US NamelessTacoShop 10 points ago in worldnews

He has been convicted but not yet sentenced so we don't know yet. But that is what people are assuming because he is am extreme escape risk.

[–] Drug lord 'El Chapo' found guilty in US NamelessTacoShop 14 points ago in worldnews

I was just reading the wiki article about that place in response to this. Didn't know about it before, but damn

[–] Drug lord 'El Chapo' found guilty in US NamelessTacoShop 5 points ago in worldnews

Yea he is. My point was he has been convicted and sent to jail before in Mexico and he has been able to bribe his way out. He may be thinking that he can do the same here in the US and is going to be in for a rude awakening when he realizes he can't.

[–] Drug lord 'El Chapo' found guilty in US NamelessTacoShop 603 points ago in worldnews

I hope that's just him thinking he can bribe some guards and escape like he has done before, and reality is about to catch up to him soon that he's going to a US max security prison, not a Mexican one.

[–] The world is a greener place than it was 20 years ago. NamelessTacoShop 22 points ago in UpliftingNews

Let's not be too quick to shit on these programs.

Yea it's not perfect, but it's better then clear cutting it for use with bad farming practices leading to soil erosion.

It would be better with more bio-diversity. But at least reforesting it allows for the natural migration of plants into the area over time to increase the diversity. As opposed to plowing it all down to ensure no native species takes hold.
