[–] What's that one product that is completely worth your money? Ok-but-why-mister 102 points ago in AskReddit

I have four siblings very close in age. “MOM!” was yelled out a lot when we were kids. She did pretty well considering. Anyway, she had a hard rule about not bothering her when she was eating, when she was sleeping, or when she was in the bathroom.

[–] Molly and Harry Ok-but-why-mister 24 points ago in harrypotter

In at least two of the books, when the Weasleys take their kids and Harry to the platform, Molly hugs Harry twice. In one Harry thought she did it by accident since she hugged everyone at random. The next year, he realizes she did it on purpose. Molly has so much love to give, and I think she often tries to overcompensate for the lack of parental love in Harry’s life.

I don’t think Harry realizes how much she loves him. He wondered in OotP, if when Molly and Arthur found out he, Harry, had given the twins the money for the joke shop, whether she would still feel if he was “as good as” her own son. In another occasion, I remember reading “Mrs. Weasley gave him a hug he did not feel he deserved.” Poor kid has been no neglected he thinks he needs to earn hugs.

    Molly truly is amazing.

In another occasion, when Charlie is showing Hagrid the dragons, Charlie imitates his mom by saying “I thought they had put an age limit. I thought they were all safe!” I always felt that she reacted the same way to Harry’s name coming out of the goblet as any of her other kids’ names. Because by that point, Harry already was, irrevocably, as good as her own.

THIS. This is one of my favorite Molly/Harry parts. I love Molly. Her default mode is to give love. She immediately recognized he needed some. She hasn’t even spoken to him, and she’s already protecting him by telling Ginny that no, she can’t go “take a look.”

Lmao as much as I agree with you, after my little chuckle I remembered the assholes who ride their bikes across campus in between classes on the same walkways where the entire study body is trying to walk. Ugh I hate those. Hogwarts probably banned flying between classes. Can you imagine the chaos?

[–] My uncle visiting from the Philippines has never seen snow. This is what happened today. Ok-but-why-mister 20 points ago in pics

I was visiting Seattle on New Year's a few years ago, and it snowed most of the day. Since we were staying just north of the city, we had to drive up while it was still snowing. As a Floridian, I don't know jack shit about driving in the snow.

Abandoning the car in the freeway was definitely considered.

I guess the panic part was just implied.

[–] What are great underused words? Ok-but-why-mister 12 points ago in AskReddit

YES!!!!! In Spanish, "pasado mañana" and "anteayer" are widely used words. I always thought they were so handy and that English needed to get it together and have equivalents.

[–] What are great underused words? Ok-but-why-mister 4 points ago in AskReddit

I learned this word in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, when Percy was described as being "apoplectic with rage". I haven't thought about that line since I came across it in the book several months ago. The funny thing is that literally today I made another comment about that line in another sub. That means that out of the three total times I have seen/heard/thought about the word, two of them were today. Life is weird.

[–] What word or words do you specifically remember learning while reading a book? Ok-but-why-mister 2 points ago in books

Ooh I made a post over on r/books about this! I credit Harry Potter for helping me learn English! I learned SO MANY WORDS from the books.

Threshold, tethered, goblet, apoplectic, beam (as in smile), etc.
