[–] Shotgunning in the middle of class without the professor noticing ProbablyNotDangerous 2 points ago in whitepeoplegifs

It is embarrassing and funny. If you have ever been to basic training, the drill sergeants are basically playing "who can come up with the wildest shit to make these guys do" and holding back laughter half the time.

[–] Daughter in credit card trouble ProbablyNotDangerous 2 points ago in personalfinance

Nothing wrong with it and it is smart. It is much easier to get your money back in cases of fraud from a good credit company. They give the money back and they go after the charge right away. Banks can take weeks to sort out, and you are out of the money the entire time. As long as you aren't accruing interest, there is no downside.

I have to believe this was faked just so I can stop the pain from cringing so hard.

[–] Cord cutting accelerates as pay TV loses 1 million customers in largest-ever quarterly loss ProbablyNotDangerous 2 points ago in technology

Your options aren't beans, rice, eggs, cereal or prime rib, there is a lot of middle ground of great meals. Look into casseroles and crock pot meals. Buy a nice pork roast, a bottle of bbq sauce, some hamburger buns and make some easy pulled pork in the crock pot. ~$15-$20 if you find the pork on sale and if you are making it for one you can probably eat it for 3 days easily.

This is one of the best things you can do. My wife and I did something similar about a year ago. I don't remember the exact number but we spent well over $1000 between eating out and buying groceries on average per month. That will definitely shock you into some changes.

[–] A FB friend, who just can't seem to lose weight "because of her thyroid" ProbablyNotDangerous 3 points ago in fatlogic

Yes. It is funny when I talk to people about it though. For some reason they get a weird look when I say I take caffeine pills. There is some strange negative connotation with that.

[–] $500 away from paying off $10k in 18 months making 28k/yr. My car blew up yesterday. ProbablyNotDangerous 6 points ago in personalfinance

A lot of auctions have government vehicles. These are very good vehicles that are typically inspected and serviced very punctually and well maintained. I would start there. If not available, it is honestly a bit of a crap shoot. Depending on the auction company, they probably won't let you test drive. In that case, I would start with dependable makes like Toyota or Honda.

[–] Alabama McDonald's gunman killed by armed dad, who is injured in shootout ProbablyNotDangerous 4 points ago in news

I don't recall anyone saying he didn't need help. He clearly needed help, so much in fact he requested it. He then went and murdered people. He is not excused from his actions just because he was mentally ill.

He was in a right enough mind to recognize he needed the help and even to call and request it.

He could have tried harder. Checked himself in somewhere. Told his wife his plans so she could take the guns. Plenty of things. There is absolutely no excuse for what he did.

[–] Tips on fighting the boar? ( spoilers?) ProbablyNotDangerous 2 points ago in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

It just takes a really long time. Kill the small boars as they come and do damage to the big one when you can. Just have patience and you will get it.

[–] This is just... ProbablyNotDangerous 9 points ago in JustBootThings

I know a lot of boot vets. At my jiu jitsu gym there are two. They both get each other off talking about all the tacticool bullshit they are going to buy or already own, all the cool shit they did while deployed and how beat up they are from their hardcore training. There are also a ton on Facebook that I served with and they post some of the dumbest shit I have ever seen.

[–] World of Warcraft: Classic Login Screen ProbablyNotDangerous 1 points ago in wow

Yeah it probably wouldn't work, I'm just saying if the interest was there, it could be a possibility. I have friend that play on WotLK private servers because that is their favorite. There are different things for different people. I have many friends who haven't played live in years and have no interest to for many reasons, and the ones who have played it very quickly lost interest. All of us are excited to go back to Vanilla. We have played a lot on private servers, but the instability eventually made most of us stop.

It would be great if it was popular to keeps the expansions going. People could end up playing in the expansion they liked best. They could monetize character transfers and you could play through the experience again, stopping at your favorite xpac. It will really depend on the popularity and demand. Private servers do similar things and a lot of people seem to like it.
