[–] China's anti-obesity campaigns emphasizing exercise over dieting sound a lot like those promoted by the soda industry. It turns out they were crafted by a group financed by Coca-Cola and other beverage giants. PsiAmp 2 points ago in worldnews

Diet and exercises are crucial part of maintaining your physical and mental health.

One is a resource - building blocks for your body. The more balanced is your diet the less junk you have. The less junk maintenance needed.

Other is maintenance and the way resources are used. Cleans up your junkyard. But requires the effort proportional to junk excess.

The problem is people don't understand how much effort is needed. Let's say that you have a perfect diet from energy standpoint. Consumption = spending. Eating one doughnut a day in excess will require you to jog 30+ min a day. Pack of pringles with 2 beers around 1 hour of jogging.

And you don't need to power work. You need cardio. A small load to increase your heart rate but for large period of time.

Too old to run because your joints are weak? Go swim! My mother is 60 with 2 heaps replaced and spine issues - swimming makes keeps her muscles in shape to compensate for artificial joints and huge amounts of injuries due to operations. You won't know she has them. But it is a constant work.

[–] What single scene from a movie is an absolute masterpiece? PsiAmp 1 points ago in AskReddit

I'm always mesmerized at opening scene from Once Upon a Time in the West.

8 wordless minutes say so much. And when you hear first dialog every word is a piece of gold.

Crimean here. No one asked me.

Imagine if a crazy ex comes to his ex-so house with an automatic rifle and say lets vote if you want to live together with me again.

Downvotes decide that logic doesn't apply to Russia if they have a brigade in the thread.

Astroturfing in this thread defending invasion by the premise that what Russia did was a democratic change for the best of the people is astounding.

I'm Crimean and I don't even want to put my opinion about the war between Ukraine and Russia. But I want to say this, think about how Trump won an election by media manipulation, reddit taking some part in it.

Be critical. Value the democracy you have for what it gives you. Defend your state from money stolen from corrupt countries as it will corrupt your system. This is especially important for Europe with all the money flood from Russia and Ukraine.

[–] The chateau fight scene from The Matrix Reloaded remastered in 1080p PsiAmp 5 points ago * (lasted edited a month ago) in videos

Didn't like this scene as most of the time they didn't match laws of inertia and it looks like zero gravity. Everything looks weightless including props and statues and thus scene lacks energy.

0:38 Neo punching a guy. It is clear how he is accelerated mid flight, while brain expects to see deceleration.

Compare with this scene, where Neo gets thrown 3 times in a row

[–] First hike to the Ukrainian Carpathian mountains for 2 days. I packed too much food, clothes and excess goods [photo shows what worked]. Despite a very long, cold and scary night it was one of the most pleasant experiences in my life. PsiAmp 1 points ago in CampingGear

Hey! There was up to knee deep snow that fell the day before. No trail was visible, so we had to rely on gps and marks on the trees. Now it is a gamble to go. Weather changes on day to day basis. But overall we were lucky. No heavy wind or low visibility due to clouds.

I think you can still do it. I recommend going early in the morning and returning back before dusk. This way you can go lightweight, fast with minimal load on your knee.

I had rehabilitation for more than a year for my left knee after all the running. Now it doesn't bother me anymore. If you are in Kiev, I can recommend you an excellent doctor and recovery therapist.
