[–] Guys who've recently told someone you were dating that "this isn't working out": what reasons did you give her/him, and what were the REAL reasons? Rakenyul 26 points ago in AskMen

What I Said: I said that we are in a different stage in life, and I need to put career first due to my own issues.

What I Meant: I get that living with me helps with the financial burden while you are in school. I'm not okay with paying for all of rent, utility, food, and your travel expenses. I get that she's not a gold digger (I'm nowhere near rich), I'm also not looking for someone who has no career goals in mind and just winging it at everything.

[–] What is the strangest way you've met a friend? Rakenyul 168 points ago in AskReddit

It's strange to him, as I was the weird one.

I was in grade 6 and I overheard one of the guy having the same birthday as me. I literally walked up to him and said "Hey! We have the same birthday, wanna be friends?". He accepted and we are still friends a decade and half later.

[–] What's your 'fuck this, I quit!' story? Rakenyul 1 points ago in AskReddit

When I finished university few years ago, I was working as a low level analyst at this Fortune 500 Company. I was severely underpaid (about 15% less than market average) and severely overworked (60 hrs a week) with no OT pay because I’m salaried. They’d call me in for a meeting or request at 4:30PM and tell me its due tomorrow morning by 9AM. Of course they said “You can go home but I just need this by 10AM”, as this way they can get away with not asking for OT. Anyway, after a year and half at that place, I took a new offer at another large corporation with a huge raise, and my own team to manage. When I tried to give them my 2 weeks’ notice, the senior managers scolded me for leaving the company and how I’m ungrateful for all the support I’ve gotten here. They tried to give me a 10% raise even after hearing about my new offer which is a 60% salary increase. When I declined it, they continued to say how stupid I was for turning down the raise, and how I could’ve had a bright future in the company, and so on. Right then I realized I don’t owe these people anything, I told them rather than the 2 weeks notice and submitting a training document for someone taking over, I’m quitting on the spot. Took a 2 weeks vacation and got really drunk every day.

[–] People of Reddit who decided to get fitter, what motivated you and why? Rakenyul 2 points ago in AskReddit

One of my best friend made a bet with me several years ago saying that I couldn't lose 50lbs in a year and he would treat me to any meal I wanted if I succeeded. Me being the competitive a-hole that I am, proved him wrong, and stayed on that life-style after.

[–] Do you believe in spanking your kids? Why/why not? Rakenyul 5 points ago in AskReddit

I really think it depends on the kid(s). Some children does not listen and will not listen (I was one of them many years ago), and spanking/hitting should be a last resort in order to show that this is serious. To this day, I'm still glad that my parents used the proper punishments on me while I was young because looking back to my younger self, I was a devil.

Sorry about that, I had some trouble uploading so I was selecting whatever options were given. I have removed the tag.

[–] I just want my coffee! Rakenyul 2 points ago in IDontWorkHereLady

You'd be surprised because people often thought that's how they are supposed to act at work. I've have my experiences with C-level executives where they walk out the door, they are very humble and relaxed.

This is very true. I strongly encourage 360 reviews for everyone to get a better transparency.

Yes, I told my team the night of, and it was brought up with the company when discussing employee retention.

There are many factors that comes to play, but the common ones from my experiences are:

    - Does not want to change outdated procedure because "it works"

    - Micromanagement from supervisors/managers

    - Zero support from your own managers because they play too much office politics

I used her as an example few days later when we were going through employees retention issue. Few of the senior teams did this because of "I was brought up this way" or "This is how its been" mentality. They took awhile to grasp that just because you pay higher than market price, doesn't mean they will stay.

It's part of the job. My mentor when I first started always told me to keep all emotions aside and do what's best for the business/clients.

[–] What's the biggest red flag you overlooked because your SO was so hot? Rakenyul 2 points ago in AskReddit

The first time I met her dad, he told me that to watch out for her and that she was a real princess. I was in the relationship for 2 years and ultimately ended it because I was practically paying for her living expenses.

[–] China has reached its 2020 solar power target three years ahead of schedule, eclipsing Europe Rakenyul 1 points ago in worldnews

Also you have to look at total energy usage, 0.3% to 1% may be small for China, but significant for a smaller nation. Also take into consideration of energy consumption growth.

[–] What's a food that you found delicious as a kid, but disgusting as an adult? Rakenyul 1 points ago in AskReddit

For me I think it was Pizza Pizza's pizza that I cannot stand. I find their dough and sauce quality has been on a downward slope for my taste buds.

[–] What's a food that you found delicious as a kid, but disgusting as an adult? Rakenyul 1 points ago in AskReddit

Honestly, i've never liked raisins as a kid or adult. I always mistook them as chocolates..

[–] Redditors who dated a childhood friend, how is it going now? Rakenyul 1 points ago in AskReddit

Haven't spoken to her for the past 10 years. Things got too awkward as it was a bad breakup. We eventually found our own group of friends that's separate from each other.

[–] Niantic, we need pokemon to spawn everywhere, not only in crowded cities. Rakenyul 6 points ago in pokemongo

Well the problem with this is because the game is based on Ingress. Most (If not all) of the Poke-stops are portals from ingress. And such portals are mainly major attractions, art piece, common areas and such. Yeah you would have say a park that is in the rural region, but is limited to what the coders can do. I feel like more Pokemons would spawn in outside areas as time passes by, and people submit more data to the company.
