Holy crap! Why is it so expensive? Climate? Odd that it isn't subsidized with it being so expensive.

There are people still suffering from illnesses caused by breathing the bad air. Our healthcare is a joke.

Right? I've got a genetic disorder. I'm in pain every day, and I never had a choice. She just threw away her health. She may never be comfortable ever again for no goddamn reason. It's not even like she was skydiving or riding a horse and had an accident. It's so frustrating.

[–] Parents of reddit, what's the funniest reason you've been called into school to collect your child? ReservoirPussy 7 points ago in AskReddit

A friend of mine would tell people her parents met in prison because her father was selling drugs.

Her mother was a psychiatrist working at the prison and her father was a pharmaceutical rep.

[–] [Serious] Do you personally know a murderer? What were they like? How/why did they kill someone? ReservoirPussy 3 points ago in AskReddit

One of my father's friends terrified me as a toddler. I couldn't look at him, couldn't be in the same room. Then he killed somebody. Instinct is a crazy thing.

I remember it happened twice while I was pregnant in '15. I think one mother lived, but her baby didn't and one killed the mother and baby, but I could be wrong. I distinctly remember the one was lured to the killer's house to buy baby clothes, though, just like OP's story.

[–] What everyday household items are actually way more dangerous than we give them credit for? ReservoirPussy 1 points ago in AskReddit

My husband's grandmother has one knife she uses for everything, it's got a broken handle and hasn't been sharpened in 50 years. She laughs at me because I close my eyes and/or look away when I see her using it, I know she's gonna lose a finger. We tried getting her a new knife and she wouldn't take it because hers is "perfectly fine!" I hate it so much.

[–] Not a movie, but I always loved this BTS picture of Kramer about to make his entrance on Seinfeld ReservoirPussy 1 points ago in Moviesinthemaking

He regrets it because it torpedoed his career. Have you seen the tape? He gets to the n-word and lynching way too fast to be someone without issues with race.

I'm sorry to rain on your parade, but you should make sure your parents have their will and power of attorney detailed because if something happens to your parents you need to be able to make decisions for them because without it the responsibility goes to her, as the oldest, and none of you want that. She'll start giving a shit once she sees dollar signs on the horizon. Family heirlooms, money, photographs, real estate, whatever, the claws will come back out. Protect yourselves while you can, you don't want to regret having not.

I feel bad for his wife, but that's hilarious.

I had thought my son was asleep the other day, so I went to take a nap because he's a long napper. An hour later my husband comes home to see our 3 year old sitting on the couch, one of his shows on tv, eating from a bag of cool ranch doritos. MY fucking Doritos. While I was blissfully napping. Damnit.

We have to start hiding things.

I heard they researched grad student apartments because they wanted it to be as real as possible, but then had to scale up for the score because real grad apartments were too depressing and small.

[–] The age old question: "sibsets" and do they actually matter? ReservoirPussy 1 points ago in namenerds

I love Clementine! And I don't think it's too different from Maya- it's only one more syllable. And there are nicknames that are shorter, and maybe you could go for a simpler middle name to sort of tone it down, like Marie, or Jane, or Alice.

[–] What is a dirty little (or big) secret about an industry that you have worked in, that people outside the industry really ought to know? ReservoirPussy 1 points ago in AskReddit

My friend's mom worked at a daycare, so my friend spent her whole life there between getting taken care of and then helping out after school and over the summers. I asked her about the first steps thing- what do you do, what do you say? She told me they tell the parents, "Keep an eye on him/her, I think they're going to start walking soon!" Broke my heart.

I'm so jealous. My son is 3 and REFUSES. I tried to do an intensive potty training session the first time I tried and he head-butted me so hard I nearly lost consciousness and had a headache for the week after-- he gave me a concussion.
