[–] Canadians Are Mad as Hell at Tim Hortons - Boycotts & pickets are some of the responses to Tim Hortons franchisees stripping paid breaks & benefits to their workers. Samgt27 -2 points ago in worldnews

I'm just saying Kathleen Wynne and her decision to put in such a dramatic change with little warning is the route problem. Of course this cannot be undone but she plans to continue raising minimum wage unnecessarily in the future so I would say the coming election would be the solution there. However, I am not trying to tell people how to vote I am just saying that people should vote in an educated manor.

I mean why boycott Tim Hortons for reacting to a shitty call from our provincial government in order to ensure the business doesn't suffer greatly. How about address the route of the problem. Quick reminder there are provincial elections coming up this summer.

Exactly, businesses (especially small) cannot survive with these changes so workers will lose benefits and prices will go up. With prices increasing that means we will now pay more for food, and basically everywhere in life we will pay more but food is most important of course. Tim's workers for example will now have to use the extra cash they get on the benefits they no longer receive, however, now they have to pay more for food so overall it is likely they actually are going to have less extra cash on them. It is pretty simple to see. Not to mention the number of small businesses that are already closing down (in rural areas) is ridiculous and very sad to see. My rural small town is going to have nothing left after this but a Tim's, McDonalds, and Subway. It's kind of depressing.

[–] People feeling down, what is making you feel that way? Samgt27 1 points ago in AskReddit

Thank you, I sure hope so. I received majority of these concussions around 4 or 5 years ago and since have suffered from depression and some other issues. I kind of just had assumed that a lot of it was that stage of my life I had changes occurring and I told myself the depressive feelings were normal. It progressively got worse and the symptoms became more aggressive into university as stress levels increased so I saw a doctor about it. It has also led to ADD but I have medication now that somewhat works and I mean I willed myself on for nearly 5 years through depression with no aids at all so I just keep on going haha. My one hope is that the brain damage hasn't destined me for some form of brain degenerative disorder with age but I suppose there is no way to tell but time.

[–] People feeling down, what is making you feel that way? Samgt27 1 points ago in AskReddit

I was recently diagnosed with permenant brain damage at the age of 18 as a result of a ridiculous amount of concussions. The list of implications it has on my life is quite something. Icant even get drunk without feeling like I'm concussed for the following week. Oh yeah mostly exams though honestly those are hell.

[–] What are some red flags we should recognise within ourselves? Samgt27 1 points ago in AskReddit

Just want to mention a lot of these responses refer to early symptoms of depression. Depression can sneak in without you fully realizing you are suffering and it can have massive affects on your life as indicated by these red flags. If you're suspicious that this may apply to you please sit down with somebody you trust or even just yourself and take a good hard look and figure out what you can do to solve this before it worsened. I ignored my depression for five years and trust me that is a horrible idea it will just build up and get worse exponentially as the worse it gets the less desirable you are to be around. Face it immediately and get help please.

[–] Thugs who throw acid can now be given a life sentence, even if they miss their victim Samgt27 1 points ago in worldnews

Well thank fuck that was cleared up finally. I can't believe previous perpetrators of this crime received such light punishments in comparison to what their victims had to deal with. Just horrific. Anybody who even considers this ought to burn in hell.

Yeah I recieved a death threat (in quite interesting detail) from a lovely lady over pizza once. Then again I mean it was pizza and I also would kill for pizza.

While I don't doubt this would happen it has to be said I'm always skeptical of the validity of information when the first line ends with "BuzzFeed reports"

[–] 'Gunshots' at Paris's Notre Dame - BBC News Samgt27 9 points ago in worldnews

Man I hate the clickbait titles! I mean don't get me wrong I'm glad the situation wasn't too severe but "gunshots" makes it sound as though somebody just opened fire on people when realistically the shots were fired by police. Unless the title was put there before the article updated but still it's just frustrating.

[–] 20 million people are starving and the media only cares about Trump says UN Samgt27 0 points ago in worldnews

To be fair, Trump in the news is at least usually news. There is good reason for him being in the news often. It is much better than celebrities.

They have a glass-bottomed boat that you can go on and view all the wrecks in the area as there are quite a few. It is a beautiful area and definitely worth visiting.

[–] Easyjet forced couple off overbooked flight with no compensation. The two passengers, who had booked non-refundable accommodation in Italy, were told that the next available Easyjet flight was four days later. Samgt27 1 points ago in worldnews

I did request it several times actually and they did refund the cash as I said just it took quite the effort and technically speaking a lost some money in the commotion. Where I lost the most money was in paying for a much more expensive flight home as I had no other choice. It doesn't exactly take balls to demand money back on a flight they cancelled on me the night before (approximately 11 hours prior to take off), it just takes incredible patience to sit there on the phone waiting listening to holding music. I'm not sure what you're "no you didn't" is referring to or why you seem aggressive towards me over this issue. Spirit were very difficult with me over this and while I'm sure I could have followed up to have them cover the cost of the flight I had to take it is not at all worth the effort as I'm sure they would put me through hell before giving me the money.

I assume this is only a news story because of the United airlines development so we shift our view towards these issues. This is not uncommon. I personally had a flight home with Spirit airlines cancelled the night before and they weren't able to fly us home for another 4 days by which point I would have missed work and many other events costing me a whole lot of money and trust. Instead I had to take a flight with American airlines which was around 4 times more expensive but I had no other options. Spirit tried to refund the flight in coupons (yeah right) they just about gave back the price of the tickets in real money. Airlines are terrible at being responsible or at least some are.

Why did the Marines seem to capture and carry around the Japanese flags? Seems backwards to the usual mentality of destroying enemy flags.

[–] LPT: "Do you know why I pulled you over?" Translates from cop speak as "Are you stupid enough to incriminate yourself for my benefit?" Samgt27 1 points ago in LifeProTips

I'm sure it has been answered but what is the best way to respond to "do you know how fast you were going?". This is used commonly in my area and I am unsure of how I would best respond to this.

[–] What was your, "They don't pay me enough for this shit", moment at a job you've had? Samgt27 1 points ago in AskReddit

I worked a part time job at a grocery store in my early which school days. I worked a lot of hours for part time and soon became very efficient at my job but receiving little to no praise. After almost a year of working my boss (manager of the department) began leaving his shift before I came in to take over from him. Other managers in the store told me he was leaving 4 or 5 hours before then. He would of course leave me with 4 to 5 hours of his work to do on top of my own 5 hours of work.

The real kicker is that on top of that I would stay late every single shift and never take breaks just to attempt to get it all done though that was damn near impossible. Other employees whom I was friends with would leave their work and try to help me due to my overwhelming task list.
I would come in on the next shift and find an angrily written note saying I was useless for not having everything done and it was easy enough to do.

Finally after sitting down with the owner and my boss to discuss this all and having my boss cuss me out (remember I was 15 at the time) and calling me "fucking useless" receiving no scolding for doing this I decided enough was enough and got out of there. Ever since the department has suffered but that manager still gets paid for shit all.

Side note: another guy worked in the department could only use one arm and walked with a limp. He did twice as much work as the boss despite this.

TLDR: had to do double the work in the same amount of time and was punished for it.

[–] Donations top $500,000 for Indian man shot dead in Kansas 'hate crime' Samgt27 11 points ago in news

In a statement to local media his niece, Adele Mathews, said: "I don't want people to think of him as a monster or racist man because that's not who he is."

What? I don't understand how you can defend these actions and say that he is not racist or a monster.

[–] What's the worst example of bad parenting you've ever witnessed? Samgt27 1 points ago in AskReddit

Was climbing a Mayan pyramid in Mexico called Coba and it is a fairly sketchy climb and to fall would almost definitely mean death. The steps are difficult and fairly broken at place and as I was climbing down I came across a woman dragging her what to me seemed maybe 3 or 4 year old son down by the arm and he was stumbling down struggling not to fall. Seemed like she didn't want to take the kid home from Mexico.
