[–] Hot take: We should be feeding people if we want to win ScotchforBreakfast 1 points ago in ChapoTrapHouse

This is all well and good but isn't a real source of economic and political power.

LABOR ORGANIZING does all of the above. It consolidates the economic power of the working class, increases the material conditions of the poor and actively radicalizes and organizes people into fighting for political power.

Mutual aid societies are nice, but charity doesn't work. Only solutions that address fundamental structural inequalities will ever truly make a dent.

His health looks good. There are plenty of much older people in both the Senate and the Supreme Court.

It's a non-issue unless he has some major health condition.

But that's true of everyone over 60.

Everyone knows that the libertarian movement is a complete paper movement right? It was just neo-fascism in the closet.

No real human being that isn't drawing a paycheck directly from the Kochs even claims to be a libertarian anymore.

Now that fascism has fully arrived with Trump, none of them even bother trying that libertarian lie.

I'm not quite there while Kennedy and Bernie still live.

Kennedy is a piece of shit, but if he rules right on gerrymandering and Bernie wins in 2020, this country can be pulled back from the brink.

With complete earnestness, I think 2020 is our last shot at preventing neo-feudalism.

I'm kinda glad that this is their strategy. They are wasting their effort on a totally disgraced politician, as opposed to spending it on sabotaging Bernie.

[–] DNC official blatantly endorses oligarchy in defense of superdelegates ScotchforBreakfast 5 points ago in ChapoTrapHouse

    Duverger's law

Furthermore, there is literally no reason for the Republican party to split. The 'populist' elements of the right in no way conflict with the interests of the oligarchs.

Why would they give up an insurmountable advantage over the two left-wing parties?

    Republicans won't split.

That's not how it works in our system.

If Leftists and Democrats split, whichever party did better would almost certainly reabsorb the other.

It's funny how true old cliches can be.

Republicans fear their base; Democrats hate theirs.

Perez is actually doing terrible fundraising. The Plutocrats see the writing on the wall. The democrats are close to becoming a permanent minority party.

Meanwhile, Don Jr. is setting fundraising records with the Republican party.

    No Joke.

    It's actually a serious problem.

The next President will appoint 3 Supreme Court justices at least.

Even if the new progressive party wins in 2024, the 6-3 conservative majority on the Supreme Court will invalidate every initiative and law passed.

2020 is really our last fucking chance to avoid an all-out feudal society.

The Constitution needs to be thrown out.

It's based on 18th century political philosophy, when we knew basically nothing about political science or how to organize a democratic state.

A two party system is inevitable based on its design and the corruption that has been integrated into the system has it fully captured.

We need entirely new representative institutions that actually measure the real democratic will of the people.

It was no big deal, the runway was long and wide and I had plenty of separation.

Definitely was a little nerve-racking as the approaches with my instructor were easy with no weird pattern instructions or traffic to avoid.

Personally I'm glad I learned at a class C. I felt much more comfortable on the radios because I had to go through 5 different frequencies every time I left the hangar.

[–] Question around Carburettor Heat ScotchforBreakfast 1 points ago in flying

No drop is definitely a problem.

I usually see a bigger drop from carb heat than you do from a mag check.

[–] Question around Carburettor Heat ScotchforBreakfast 2 points ago in flying

Why use carb heat when you don't need to? It's asinine to put unfiltered air into the engine in a cherokee. They designed the air intakes better for a reason.

[–] Solo today! aka How to Botch Sequencing ScotchforBreakfast 3 points ago in flying

I soloed in a relatively busy class c, I had to do two 360s in my first solo circuit around the pattern and then land behind a 757.

On the ground, I called ground 3 times and seemingly forgot how my radios worked when I tried to switch over to tower.

I wouldn't even order a business card unless it was union-made.

    This is fucking garbage.

[–] Ex-workers: Supervisors at Tesla factory routinely called us the n-word ScotchforBreakfast 8 points ago in ChapoTrapHouse

Businesses will cut corners, even if cutting those corners cuts profits in the medium term, just so they can increase this year's bonus.

Coal mines used to blame collapses on individual workers and refused to pay for mine supports.

The constant explosions and collapses would suspend production for weeks at a time.

Capitalists are too greedy to make money.

If you think that all secure mental health facilities or care homes are prisons and that all people under medical custody and supervision are prisoners, then sure.

If they have lost their liberty to come and go as they please. Then it is a prison.

[–] lmao fuck ScotchforBreakfast 4 points ago in ChapoTrapHouse

moving them to some sort of secure but humane residential mental health facility which would also have that ultimate goal.

    So a prison.

This is why I won't join DSA.

Because I'm involved in actual politics in a 'normie' area and not fucking Brooklyn.

I hear yeah, no one is perfect.

I just lean toward Warren because of her clear hatred of Wall St.

Yeah, that would be great. Proportional representation with ranked choice voting please.
