[–] This Supreme Court Case Is The Biggest Threat To Unions In Years ScotchforBreakfast 6 points ago in ChapoTrapHouse

Progressives knew he was a turncoat when he announced his transition team and it was stuffed full of Clinton alums.

[–] PA Supreme Court draws their own congressional map that will undoubtedly create a hyperbolic power struggle ScotchforBreakfast 10 points ago in ChapoTrapHouse

Nah, elections have consequences. Legally, the Republicans don't have a shot at blocking this map.

Never felt better about my work in 2015 to elect those justices.

[–] Pennsylvania Supreme Court Issues New Congressional Map To Replace Gerrymandered One ScotchforBreakfast 9 points ago in politics

What is interesting about this map is that it is probably better than a map the democrats would have drawn for themselves.

In that case, the politicians would have been more protective of democratic incumbents, and given them safer seats.

This map seems to be designed to increase the number of truly competitive seats while also respecting municipal and county boundaries.

This is not only a fair map for the people of Pennsylvania, but also a map that holds democratic and republican politicians accountable to their electorates.

This is a great day for democracy.

[–] Falcon Heavy May Have Drastically Increased The Number Of Asteroids We Can Mine ScotchforBreakfast 1 points ago in technology

There is something known as a put option. Or the right to sell something at an agreed upon price sometime in the future.

Buy puts on the mineral to be mined, go grab the asteroid and make trillions.

[–] Why do some U.S. citizens get so offended by people from countries with strict firearms laws suggesting the same for America when we only say it because we genuinely feel unhappy about the massacres and don't want your people to be killed? ScotchforBreakfast 5 points ago in AskReddit

Transportation is completely necessary for modern life to be possible.

Even still, there are extensive regulations on transportation.

Drivers licenses', extensive product regulation on vehicles, laws against drunken driving, etc.

Many people enjoy their firearms for home protection, hunting big game for food, target practice, or even collectibles.

All of these can easily be fulfilled along side extensive registration, training and safety requirements.

I attribute it to millennials living with their parents much longer due to collapsing wages and rising housing prices.

Gets pretty awkward to bone with mom in the next room.

Good point, when China used tanks to roll over democratic protesters that lead to total global isolation and the collapse of the regime.

[–] Florida shooting survivor to Trump: "I don't want your condolences you fucking piece of shit..." ScotchforBreakfast 8 points ago in ChapoTrapHouse

This is objectively wrong, we can measure shit like this and millennials are overwhelmingly leftist or at least left-of-center.

    Also, these kids aren't millennials.

[–] Florida shooting survivor to Trump: "I don't want your condolences you fucking piece of shit..." ScotchforBreakfast 1 points ago in ChapoTrapHouse

I'm not for ineffective half measures like the Clinton AWB.

I'm for gun confiscation and extensive licencing requirements for any guns that remain in civilian hands.

[–] 2018 fatal school shootings in the US: 8. Armed revolutions: 0 ScotchforBreakfast -1 points ago in ChapoTrapHouse

It's because this sub, like most of reddit, is full of 20 something white boys who see guns as an extension of their power-fantasies.

Here it's some laughable fantasy about 'armed revolution'. On right-wing subreddits, the fantasy is about killing Muslims or Blacks.

[–] Kirsten Gillibrand: "I will no longer accept donations from corporate PACs" ScotchforBreakfast 0 points ago in ChapoTrapHouse

It's a conditional statement, not an argument.

The condition: Trusting blue dog democrat Kirsten Gilibrand to be a progressive president.

The result: You've demonstrated that you're an idiot.

[–] Kirsten Gillibrand: "I will no longer accept donations from corporate PACs" ScotchforBreakfast 1 points ago in ChapoTrapHouse

    lol.

Hillary literally supported the most progressive platform in history because she was forced to by the left.

Gilibrand is an HRC acolyte that recognizes the moment and is simply mouthing platitudes for you. If she thought the moment meant to cut Social security, she would.

If you trust her, you're an idiot.

[–] Kirsten Gillibrand: "I will no longer accept donations from corporate PACs" ScotchforBreakfast 21 points ago in ChapoTrapHouse

What the fuck is going on? Gilibrand is HRC on steroids.

She would immediately turn against the left if she ever got power.

She was a leading member of the blue dog dems, and even voted against the fucking stimulus bill during the Great Recession.

She might be the worst person of all the front-runners.

Most of the rocket engines were pulled from mothballs in government warehouses or were designs literally given to SpaceX for free.

[–] Nancy Pelosi is incredibly underrated ScotchforBreakfast 7 points ago in politics

embracing the tried-and-true neoliberal capitalism and free markets that make our nation so great.

There is already a party for that, it is called the Republican party.

Why not just leave the democrats and go join your brothers?

[–] Cali police worked with nazis to target anti-racist activists ScotchforBreakfast 15 points ago in ChapoTrapHouse

    http://www.aljazeera.com/blogs/europe/2012/12/52586.html

The most intriguing fluctuations came in polling stations around the Attica General Police Directorate (or GADA), where we know hundreds of police officers voted.

In 13 nearby polling stations, Golden Dawn averaged more than 20 per cent of the vote, whereas in the neighbouring "civilian only" polling stations it received 6 per cent of the vote, or below the Athenian average.

In other words, it seems that it is the police presence that is the variable, which is pushing the Golden Dawn vote upwards.
