[–] Fahrenheit 11/9 is good folks ScotchforBreakfast 30 points ago in ChapoTrapHouse

He's the original dirtbag leftist. Obviously 30+ years of interacting with terrible American politics will result in anyone making tons of mistakes.

Overall, his heart is in the right place and he's clearly full of hate against capitalism.

[–] Puerto Rico governor: 'We need to solve the century-old problem of colonialism' ScotchforBreakfast 57 points ago in politics

    3? Try 7.

Puerto Rico would get 4 representatives in Congress as it is about the same population size as Connecticut.

It would be the 29th largest state by population.

[–] When is it mathematically correct to concede a game of Hearthstone? ScotchforBreakfast 3 points ago in CompetitiveHS

This is without a doubt a loser mentality.

People don't like to play games when they are at a disadvantage, so the cathartic feeling of giving up and moving on to a game they are dominating FEELS better than grinding out every bit of edge.

Also, most matchups in hearthstone are pretty even, and a few flex card slots can make a big difference.

The OP is the exact opposite of a winning mentality/practice.

    This is pure trash.

Dude, the base of the Republican party is evangelical whites.

All other whites actually disapprove of the Republican party.

It's just that simple. The Bourgeois don't have the numbers to win popular elections.

There is more wealth and productivity in our society than ever before.

It is literally concentrating into the hands of a few dozen families. We can simply redistribute that production quite easily.

    You're just factually wrong.

Fuck off with this defeatist bullshit.

The UK literally passed the NHS in 1946 while the entire country was in rubble.

    Social democracy is easily affordable.

    Fuck you.

[–] Obama 2003: “I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care program.” Obama 2018: “[Democrats] are running on good new ideas like Medicare for all.” Theres nothing “new” about this, as Obama himself knows. He just decided to lie, expecting nobody to notice. ScotchforBreakfast 11 points ago in ChapoTrapHouse

The argument is two fold. And I'll explain it to you because centrists are slow.

First, the democrats didn't need 60 votes to pass healthcare reform, that was a self-imposed limitation that they ultimately didn't even follow for the Obamacare law that was passed.

Two, now that we know that it only took 51 votes to pass the legislation, any argument that doesn't include a whip count of less than 51 votes is utter horseshit. Ultimately, the fault for the problems with Obamacare fall to Obama, who had all the votes he needed to pass whatever law he desired.

He wanted the dogshit corporatist ACA that we got and no one made him do it. He explicitly wanted it this way after lying about supporting Single-payer in the past.

[–] Brett Kavanaugh said he would kill Roe v. Wade last week and almost no one noticed ScotchforBreakfast 1 points ago in politics

This is fucking hilarious. A niche weapon that never was used in any major military and which never had a significant effect on the market is used to try and justify obvious lies about how the founders thought about guns.

    You guys are fucking idiots.

Thing is, I don't have to make shit up about the founders. I can say unequivocally that they wanted to ban concealed carry. Because they did.

    How's that feel?

The idea of ensoulment at conception is so baffling, even from a theological perspective, that it can't possibly be the basis of human personhood.

Because if we follow it to its logical conclusion, that means that the vast majority of souls in the afterlife are zygotes. That's ridiculous even from a religious perspective.

If you cross a picket line, you are human garbage.

I always think it's kind of shitty when a show continues production during a writers strike. Like, I get it, people gotta eat

What the fuck? Scabs should die.

Never cross a fucking picket line.

No. Only six states (California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon and Rhode Island) require universal background checks on all firearm sales at gun shows, including sales by unlicensed dealers. Three more states (Connecticut, Maryland and Pennsylvania) require background checks on all handgun sales made at gun shows.

    1. May I lawfully transfer a firearm to a resident of the same State in which I reside? Any person may sell a firearm to an unlicensed resident of the State where he resides as long as he does not know or have reasonable cause to believe the person is prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms under Federal law. There may be State laws that regulate interstate firearm transactions. Any person considering acquiring a firearm should contact his or her State Attorney General’s Office to inquire about the laws and possible State or local restrictions. A list of State Attorney General contact numbers may be found at www.naag.org.

From the ATF frequently asked questions.

Under federal law, private-party sellers are not required to perform background checks on buyers, record the sale, or ask for identification, whether at a gun show or other venue.
