Tbh, I am that old friend in this scenario... My friend invited me to a party he was so excited to go to because he made this new friend, and then this guy and I hit it off and spent the whole day together and I didnt even realize I had just pulled the rug from under my friend. Now I feel like garbage... Im such a bad friend :-/

For them the Amazon is more than the lungs of the world, it is their home." Sir-Knightly-Duty 2 points ago in worldnews

Bolsonaro lies constantly, dont pretend he’s some saint. He has spat on indigenous rights and any attempts at conservation. Us “leftists” hate all forms of this destructive behavior, we want preservation, so stop acting like youre on some moral high horse because youve decided to not care at all and therefore cant be a “hypocrite” like us leftists who dare to care at all.

You dont know shit about me actually, and I can tell you climate change is fucking everything up. Brazil is a man-made fire, and the Amazon isnt like all the other rainforests, despite them all being important. The Amazon is THE most important ecosystem. To destroy it is to royally fuck ourselves and all living things in the ass. Im not regurgitating anything either, I cant begin to list the number of years Ive spent studying the subject.

Besides, Bolsonaro isnt some random leader “I just dont like”. He has flat out declared war on any attempts to preserve the Amazon at all, and to respect Indigenous rights at all. He is readying a massacre, substantiated by evidence, not opinion or irrational emotion.

Its trying really hard to play with Nostalgia and hope. Im not a big fan of overly emotional marketing. Its also like theyre showing off how much of the entertainment industry theyve acquired. Theyre basically a monopoly now and i fking hate that.

I love most of what Netflix puts out actually, and have always loved how LGBT friendly they are.

Ugh what Im really fearing is its going to end up being fking Biden... and then itll just be a repeat of Clinton all over again. People not wanting to vote for him because he doesnt inspire anyone, so they don't vote at all, and Trump wins AGAIN.

Omg this is fking awesome news. I hope it was long and agonizing, for all the terribly shit he has caused single-handedly.

Bankrupt a country? Yeah no, thats not gonna happen because you start investing in public transport. Im talking about starting a trend in that direction, starting a cultural shift towards placing more value on collectivism, including how we commute.

That’s why you should never vote Republican if you value sustainability and long term growth and safety. Democrats have alot of issues, but they are the only ones addressing the issue at all.

[–] How do we save this fucking planet? Sir-Knightly-Duty 1 points ago in AskReddit

Getting people to value public transportation is absolutely a solution that works. The person i have been talking to is offering a hot plate of “no will never work, next!” There are a million things we need to do that also offer significant improvements. The easiest thing I have done in my life is to stop eating beef and dairy. It took almost no effort, and more people need to do it, at least cut back.

I doubt humans will be among those going extinct. We’re like the cockroach of the medium-sized mammal world, but anything is possible.

Itll save us alot of money down the line. And its the price we need to pay if we want to become more efficient and reduce emissions.

This is about change, not about how things are today. You have to drive today, but there is most certainly a way to make sure in 10-15 years, that commute no longer requires you to have an individual car on a highway. And absolutely if we are going to solve climate change, we need to think both as individuals what can we do, and as entire nations what can we do. We can't point the finger at China and tell them to change when we ourselves refuse to change, especially when we can improve our individual footprint far more than they can.

Everything is scalable. The entirety of Europe is connected across country lines, we can do the same here within the same country at even more efficiency.
