[–] The quickening! SomethingAwkwardTWC 3 points ago in pregnant

Lots of people describe it as feeling like gas bubbles. For me, the early movements felt like popcorn popping low in my belly.

Right. I assumed she was started in daycare for the typical reasons, but it seems like once he lost his job due to porn his addiction was too far gone for him to be a caregiver. I replied on another of your comments and someone else may have said it as well, but he should go see his primary care doctor asap. I see a lot of recommendations for mental health treatment but physical/organic causes should always be ruled out in cases where there is a sudden shift in personality.

There could be something physically wrong (head injuries, brain issues, hormone issues) that may be contributing as well. Any sudden drastic personality shift should have medical causes ruled out in addition to/before counseling.

Currently 6.5 months pregnant. McDonald's bacon egg and cheese bagels are my craving but I try not to eat them very frequently, so it's a bit of a treat. Last week, I got to McDonald's at 10:31 and was so sad that I had missed the window but the person taking the order didn't realize it wasn't part of the "all-day breakfast" menu and put it in anyway. I was so damn happy over that silly sandwich.

[–] When you need an Omelet before a round of Golf after declaring a National Emergency SomethingAwkwardTWC 0 points ago in pics

The people voted on Obamacare via their representatives, and legislation was actually passed. No national emergency was declared to get funding for a campaign promise that Obama couldn't get passed through Congress.

This may vary from state to state, but sometimes people who have legal guardians can't get legally married without nullifying their guardianship. It's messed up, because legally one spouse becomes the guardian for the other, even if they both would qualify for guardianship services based on their functioning and needs. I worked with individuals who had a similar civil ceremony but didn't file legal papers for that reason.

[–] Okay, okay, I give up *plop* SomethingAwkwardTWC 11 points ago in aww

I once watched my ferret make her way across the living room, dragging a jump rope behind her. Curious, I let it play out. She climbed up the couch with tremendous effort and stuffed the end of the jump rope into the crack where the cushions meet. She hopped down and went to grab the other end so she could finish the job - man she was so pissed when I stopped her and de-hoarded the couch.

[–] Twins are at one another's side from the start. SomethingAwkwardTWC 52 points ago in gifs

Rooting in this context refers to instinctive movements a baby makes when looking to nurse.

Edited: found a good definition. "The rooting reflex is usually triggered by some sort of stimulus—perhaps when you stroke your baby's cheek with your finger—or by something less direct, such as his own shirt or fist. When this happens, your baby moves his head toward the stimulus and opens his mouth in search of food."

That's true. I was thinking more legally, but in terms of business and reviews you've got a good point.

If you manage any immediate crises and make an appropriate referral for ongoing care, it shouldn't be a problem.

[–] A rant about medical bills SomethingAwkwardTWC 3 points ago in BabyBumps

Ugh, so frustrating! I'm working on paying my annual deductible again too. My sister had the option to delay all billing until the birth so it all came out of one year, but that's not how mine works either. I know I will meet my out of pocket max this year, though, so I'm less worried about costs.

[–] A rant about medical bills SomethingAwkwardTWC 4 points ago in BabyBumps

If you call the company that does the testing they will usually work with you on the cost of it isn't covered by insurance. My midwife told me that, though, which was nice. My MaterniT21 genetic test ended up being covered due to the fact that I'll be over 35 when I give birth, but if it wasn't they would have reduced the bill from close to $1000 to $299. It's not great, but it's much better. Maybe try to give the company that did the blood testing on your husband a call? It couldn't hurt and it might reduce the bill.

Or he can go back to hawking toilets for dudes who think they have big dicks and trying to skirt FTC fraud charges.

[–] All day sickness and don't know what to eat 😩 SomethingAwkwardTWC 3 points ago in pregnant

Hummus with pretzels or naan bread was a good protein/carb balance that was easy on my stomach early on. Now (27 weeks) I'll also do fresh veggies with hummus.

[–] If I get too hungry i feel like I need to throw up. SomethingAwkwardTWC 2 points ago in pregnant

I was super lucky when it came to morning sickness, but if I didn't eat every 3-ish hours, or ate too much at one sitting, I felt awful. I quickly went from completely fine, to crazy hungry, to too nauseous to eat. If I ate a typical sized meal, heartburn... I had to eat several small meals a day.

It was annoying to find the balance, but once I started keeping snacks like trail mix in my car and hummus at my office (I drive all over town for work), I did MUCH better.
