[–] So the only thing left to know is Elder(End) Game. BioWare lurkers, when can we expect to hear more? Storm_Worm5364 1 points ago * (lasted edited 2 days ago) in AnthemTheGame

I think Strongholds are challenging not because they are Raid-like (puzzle mechanics that require communication and precise timing from multiple players), but because the damage and health of the enemies is gonna be high enough that combos are gonna be basically a must.

If you get good enough randoms, there's really no need for communication since all elements are visually identifiable, and you can clearly see when an enemy is ready to be combo'ed.

Raids, on the other hand, will most likely require communication, and I really hope they do, because nothing can be genuinely challenging when no communication is needed (unless we're talking about artificial difficulty, AKA bumping up the damage and health of enemies ten-fold and calling it a "Raid").

Also, could you give me the link to that Discord? I'm interested in joining it.

    Raids!

It's basically the only thing they haven't confirmed yet, and they always tip-toe around the subject, whenever it's broad up.

I REAAAALLY hope Raids are something they worked on (or are working on), and that there's at least one Raid ready for release (doesn't need to be unlocked on day one, though).

if not ideas like yours can lead the way to changes.

This is mainly why I make concepts for games I love. I've made a couple of concepts for Destiny as well, but the reason I made them was to give the devs something to fall on, as well as a visualization for the community, rather than having the community just have to use their imagination, you know...

Because then you can ID the buff without needing to look directly at it/read it.

They are difference colors just so you know what is a buff and what is a debuff. If you get frozen, for example, you would see a "Frozen" debuff on the side of the screen, marked as red. And you'd see how long it would take until the frozen effect disappeared.

That's also why the red has a red arrow pointing down, behind the icon of the debuff, and the buff as a blue arrow pointing up, indicating it's empowering you. They are little details, but its definitely something players would notice after getting acquainted with buff and debuffs.

Maybe a bit of a cool mini animation each time a buff is engaged

They actually do have that. In the stream, you could see a yellow "flash" around the screen every time the Producer (can't remember his name) started hovering. If I recall correctly, it flashed twice, which makes sense since he was getting two buffs ("Raptor's Sense" and "Raptor's Relief").

but that could just as easily have been a defense mechanism

It 100% was a defense mechanism. They were only created AFTER the Collapse, when the Traveler knew it wouldn't be able to defend itself.

Given the lore we have right now, the Light and Dark are already pretty established forces, and we know pretty well what they are supposed to be.

The Traveler abandoned the Fallen, but I believe it did that because it knew it was too weak to fight against the Darkness.

Before abandoning the Fallen, it had helped other civilizations fight against the Darkness. Namely, the Harmony.

It tried to help them, but they weren't strong enough against the all three of the Osmium Heirs.

I can tell you right now that there would be no way in Hell we would've survived against the Darkness itself, Oryx, Xivu Arath AND Savathûn.

I believe this is the key to why we were able to survive the Darkness. Whenever the Darkness attacked Sol, the Osmium Heirs weren't alongside it. The Traveler was able to keep them at bay for long enough, and then went dormant, stopping the Darkness from attacking.

It made the Ghosts, which now that I think about it, it's a ball with triangles around it (not that I think that has any significance, as the look of the Ghost was created way before Bungie knew what they were doing with the lore of the game), but they were definitely created as a defense mechanism.

    Completely agree.

Having a lot of UI options can make or break a game for certain people.

I've played games with weird UI choices, and after the initial "magic" of a game, you just can't deal with it anymore. It's one of those things that you think you're able to look past because the game itself is interesting, but after playing long enough the game stops being as interesting, but the UI issues are still there, and now they're "getting on your nerves" because you've had to endure so much of it...

One thing I will say is that I'm not a fan of the decimal place for the timer.

I thought of that while making the concept with the timers, but it felt a bit too empty, and since other games with buff timers usually also show the milliseconds (in increments of 100), I thought "Eh, why not?".

But in this hypothetical world where Anthem's UI elements for its De/Buffs, the game would also have an option to turn off timers (as in- only have the bar gradually depleting), and maybe even have a "minimalist timer" option, where only the seconds were shown.

[–] Anthem seems to be flying some of the bigger names out to test/showcase content, including Datto Storm_Worm5364 2 points ago in AnthemTheGame

People that can amass a following the size of Datto's channel based on a game alone and on factual content (number crunching, guides, etc.), can definitely be called experts on said game.

We're talking about day-one Raiders, and can actually complete the Raid on day one (RIP day one Last Wish --- 24:02).

He doesn't have that bias. He hates that about Destiny.

He is a lot more hardcore in his opinions than Destiny with ever even consider. I bet he is gonna love Anthem, because from what I’ve seen, it will be a fairly hardcore game.

[–] who's ready to face these kinds of beasts? Storm_Worm5364 2 points ago in AnthemTheGame

The same way I can argue that Breath of the Wild and Horizon Zero Dawn, or even Dark Souls, are completely different games.

Those games share more elements with each other than Anthem shares with Destiny.

They are all Action RPGs with a big emphasis on exploration, all with an open-world (even though Dark Souls's open world is more linear), all 3rd person hack and slash games with light shooting elements. All of them have loot and let you customize your character's abilities in some way (either through just loot, stats, crafting, etc).

Anthem is closer to Diablo and The Division than Destiny.

Saying Anthem is light on story is far-fetched, at best. For someone that played the Close Alpha, you don't seem to have paid much attention.

Ye, that's why Spire of Stars had completely new loot, and TONS of weapons. Oh, wait....

[–] You can cheese the Insurrection Prime (phase 2) boss fight Storm_Worm5364 2 points ago in DestinyTheGame

You have LITERALLY described EVERYTHING Destiny has to offer. This is a looters game. Repeating content is normal, and you wouldn't have more than 100h if you didn't repeat any content at all.

[–] You can cheese the Insurrection Prime (phase 2) boss fight Storm_Worm5364 6 points ago in DestinyTheGame

Why are you doing Raids if you don't enjoy it?

I would genuinely not play Destiny without Raids. They are by far the best content the game has to offer. Strikes are cool, but they are definitely not the reason I play Destiny, as they don't really offer anything unique.

And I can't really take PvP seriously when the developers themselves don't take it seriously either. P2P connections can make D2 one of the most frustrating experiences I've had in gaming, and I find myself avoiding PvP at all costs.

I literally only did my Crucible milestone last week, because I was getting Raid-readyand I needed the powerfuls.

[–] Remove the “return to Ada” part of forging weapons after radiant seeds. Storm_Worm5364 2 points ago in DestinyTheGame

I don't agree with that because I'm on PC and the fact that the grind for the forge weapons is so tedious iin a way (get enough modulus reports, go to Ada to pick up the frame, kill 25 powerful enemies with the archetype, collect 25 Seeds from powerful enemies, go to Ada, complete the forge.

That's all you need to do FOR A SINGLE crack at the RNG drop.

The whole "Go to Ada" thing would be much better for everyone. I also believe that you should only need to complete the radiant seed step before doing the forge completion.

[–] Armor is seperate from Stats... THANK YOU BIOWARE! Storm_Worm5364 2 points ago in AnthemTheGame

I would like to have a transmog system. The wraps are basically gonna be the only thing you can't really control the look of. I'm not asking for the ability to have a sidearm shooting grenades because I transmogged a sidearm into my grenade launcher, but letting me transmog weapons within their own archetypes would be cool (as in - letting me "project" the appearance of an Assault Rifle into my current assault rifle).

It's as similar to Destiny has Grand Theft Auto is.

That is to say not at all. I've played the Alpha, and I have 1400h clocked into Destiny 2 alone. Trust me, they're not even close to each other.

[–] According to the Dec 13th livestream, loot inscriptions cannot be rerolled. Bioware, this is a HUGE mistake. Storm_Worm5364 3 points ago in AnthemTheGame

We don't know the drop-rates of these pieces. We don't know if these pieces only drop on specific bosses, if they are Stronghold-specific, Raid-specific, if they drop from any source or even if there's a cap to how many times you can do certain activities a week (like Destiny and their Raids).

There's too many variables we don't know to be calling for the game to be easier right now. Once we get our hands on the game, then we'll see, and give feedback accordingly.

Having a tougher game at the start is ALWAYS better than having a game that's easier from the get-go. Because by the time the devs get around to balancing certain drops to be more difficult, a big number of the dedicated playerbase will already have those things.

The perfect example I can give is Destiny 2 vanilla, and every Year 1 exotic in that game.

We don't know how high the drop rate is, or anything else, for that matter.

I rather have an extremely grindy game that gets tunned post-launch than a game that lets you re-roll things and by the time the devs patch the drop-rate or something along those lines, you already have the things you want.

Just gimme them time, and don't pressure them to make things easier from the get-go, without knowing the full extent.
