[–] I hate the new reddit Superboy309 5 points ago in beta

Hey, /u/RamsesThePigeon, while I agree for the most part, I feel as though the way that /u/CommonMisspellingBot goes about correcting spelling is wrong. It presents tips on how to spell words which boil down to some variation of

Hey, see that spelling mistake you made, next time, don't do that

This makes /u/CommonMisspellingBot less of a useful addition to reddit which increases the overall perceived intelligence of posts, and more of an annoyance when a word is misspelled which may or may not garner an edit by the person, but certainly will not help them learn how to spell the word.

Spelling corrections are nice and all, but the reason they occur is because English is a fundamentally broken language with no steadfast rules on how words should be spelled or pronounced, only a lose amalgam of contradictory rules. Because of this both highly confusing and generally worthless amalgam of rules for words, spelling corrections, at least on common mistakes, should be accompanied by a useful mnemonic which relates back to the word itself.

An, admittedly poor, example of this, in the case of separate, would be

When you separate something, you split it into to average halves, another word for average is par, use this to remember that separate is spelled with a par rather than a per

[–] Reddit Steak Superboy309 11 points ago in GifRecipes

Sous vide isn't really about rescuing a cut, it's about consistency in texture and flavor. Any steak will benefit greatly from it because you can get exactly the doneness you would like through the whole steak rather than with a gradient. It really isn't a question of the quality of the cut, but rather the thickness, if your cut is a half inch or greater, it's going to be nigh impossible to get one doneness throughout the cut.

I picked the first 10 mod categories on the damn list, I didn't cherry pick them, would you like me to do another analysis of every other one or every fourth one?

This wasn't supposed to be a scientific study of the ratio of content mods to non content mods, it was to debunk your bullshit argument that I should have used the categories instead of the top 30. Not looking at the ones that are exclusively improvement it is pretty plain to see that not even they are cut and dry. I don't need to take a massive sample size to show you that there exists multiple types of mods within a single category, I could just link you two mods from each category and that would be a 100% valid argument.

He made an argument about glaring issues. You don't get to respond to his argument and claim that because you never said "glaring issues" the argument at hand wasn't about it. You made a point, he made a counter argument about the distinction between the modding communities of factorio and bethesda games, which requires you to consider glaring issues as a factor.

If you don't give a shit about it, don't argue about it. Fucking assclown.

When this comment was made, the direction of the conversation changed and it became about glaring issues, you argued his point about glaring issues and I continued his argument.

    No, I do not agree.

Yes you can play Skyrim, Fallout 3, Oblivion without mods but the mods there fix their issues.

Vanilla Factorio doesn't have that glaring of issues. If at all adding Angel's and Bob's slows down the game even more and makes it a lot more complex. Stuff like Longreach, Bottleneck, Squeak Through, Auto Fill, YARM or EvoGUI are all nice quality of life additions, similar to SkyUI for example, but not complete must haves, which fix the base game like most of the recommended mods for the games you mentioned.

If I were to compare the moding scene in Factorio to some other game, it's Minecraft where they do the same thing of building from the Vanilla to more.

Oh boy, top 30, who gives a shit? This isn't about what the top 30 mods are. This is the page you need to be looking at, the overwhelming majority of those mods are not of the "fix it" category.

The problem with using mod categories is that they aren't verbose enough to tell if they are, as you say, "fix it" mods or not.

Looking into any of the categories, you can see a mixture of fixes/improvements, content changes, and content additions.

Lets look at some of them and categorize the first 10 mods of each:

Although I, personally, would be stricter about this, I'll consider a content mod anything that adds a new obtainable item, spell, or activity to the game. Anything that fixes a bug, or tweaks existing content will count as an improvement. Any cheats or external tools will be considered mod tools.

    6 improvement mods
    4 content mods

    10 improvement mods.

    1 improvement mod
    9 content mods

    Armor - Shields:
    2 improvement mods
    8 content mods

Audio - SFX, Music and Voice:
    10 improvement mods

    Body, Face and Hair:
    10 improvement mods

    Books and Scrolls:
    5 improvement mods
    2 content mods
    3 mod tools

    Bug Fixes:
    10 improvement mods

    4 improvement mods
    6 content mods

    Castles, Palaces, Mansions, and Estates:
    2 improvement mods
    8 content mods

    Cheats and God Items:
    10 mod tools

This wasn't meant to show anything about the concentration of the mods, as I feel I got that point across with my top 30 statement. This shows that next to none of the categories are cut and dry either improvements or content, and from what I've seen, a majority of the ones that are purely one or the other are improvement mods.

You didn't but the conversation was about how mods fix glaring issues.

Vanilla Factorio doesn't have that glaring of issues.

To you. You are not everyone, remember when I said "not everyone likes the same thing, and assuming they do would be absurd."

Also, Vanilla can't not have glaring issues to him, while still retaining glaring issues if you agree with my definition.

Well that's just a lie... The overwhelming majority of mods for those games exist to add content.

Lets do a quick run through of the top 30 mods on skyrim nexus.

    SkyUI, betters the UI.

Race Menu, grants the player more customization in the character creation menu.

FNIS, fixes animations and enables custom animations.

Quality World Map, makes the in game map more usable.

USLEP, fixes a bevy of bugs.

    Skyrim HD, Improves texutres.

Enhanced Blood Textures, Improves textures of blood spatter.

Realistic Ragdolls and Force, fixes ragdoll skeletons so that they react to ingame physics better.

    ApachiiSkyHair, Improves hair models.

HDT Physics Extensions, extends physics to things which they are not applied to.

SMIM, improves the meshes of many 3D models in game.

Enhanced Lights and FX, makes the lighting more true to life.

Climates of Tamriel, tweaks lighting and audio of weather.

ShowRaceMenu Precache Killer, prevents a freeze when using the race menu.

Skyrim Flora Overhaul, more detailed trees and flora.

The Eyes of Beauty, fixes eye normal maps and gives them more realistic textures.

    RealVision, an ENB preset.

Immersive Patrols, spawns more patrols throughout the world.

Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul, revamps the AI to be more immersive.

Enhanced Character Edit, revamps the player customization menu

Realistic Water Two, gives water new surface textures to mimic fluid motion.

So 21 of the first 30 mods either fix issues/bugs, improve look and feel, or increase the encounter rate of present content.

Of the remaining 9 mods, 4 add simple content like swords and armor and models, 2 add complex content like spells and gameplay experiences, and 3 are mod tools. While the concentration of mods which add content slightly increases as the top list goes on, it doesn't increase by much. It is demonstrably false that a overwhelming majority, or even a close majority of mods are content additions.

[–] TES VI is cool. But THIS is what has me most excited to be PCMR this E3. ((Satisfactory)(Its like Factorio but 3D)) Superboy309 1 points ago in pcmasterrace

A glaring issue is something which everyone would be better off without. Like, in the case of Skyrim, a quest which could not be completed without save corruption, or a certain area of the map causing frequent crashes.

MrTripl3M's point was that in the case of Skyrim, FO3, and Oblivion, the modding scenes, for the most part, exist to fix issues which are indisputable issues. Low res textures, bad frame rates, broken/stiff animations, etc. Mods do exist to change core gameplay, but they are few and far between. In the case of Factorio, one may believe that the game is not complex enough, but that isn't a glaring universal issue that everyone experiences, that's one dude thinking that an already extremely complex and in depth game isn't enough for him. That's where the modding scenes differ.

Where Bethesda's games have fairly minimal gameplay changes along with a lot bug fixes, QoL changes, and look and feel changes, Factorio has almost exclusively gameplay changes with a few QoL and look and feel changes here and there.

You may not have said that any mod for a game is a must have, but it is true in a sense. To try to say that the Unofficial Patches for Bethesda games are not a must is woefully ignorant. For the most part, Bethesda game mods exist in a way such that, if your computer can handle running them, you are better off with than without them, whereas Factorio mods exist such that, if you want a new challenge, or want to expand upon your first experience with the game, you should install them.

The conservative base probably wants it gone in part because some of them don't understand that rules and regulation aren't necessarily a bad thing, even when you want minimal government oversight. That and the fact that they have been fed false information through conservative media.

Conservative representatives want it gone because they are being payed to want it gone.

I don't owe anything, actually, never set foot inside an ambulance.

But 150k/7years comes out to $58/day/truck

Factor that in, you are maybe getting $10/ride for the cost of the truck.

$2500/bag doesn't tell me anything about how often that $2500 is actually used.

If the Ambulance is idling for the full day it will consume around 25 gallons of fuel, so add about $84 which again only adds about $15 per ride.

I also don't know how often equipment in the truck needs to be replaced, so can't really point out how much that adds to the cost, but so far the usable data you've given me has added a maximum of $25 per ride.

Can't seem to find data on the cost of insurance either.

Unless you are telling me that the base costs of running an ambulance is in the $10,000+/day range, I sincerely doubt that ambulances cost nearly as much as they are being billed at.

Even if you bought a new med bag every day, bought a new truck and equipment every year, had 2 paramedics making $28/hr 24/7 and burned 50 gallons of fuel every day. You'd be looking at a cost of about $5000/day. So unless that's what is happening AND there is only one hospital trip/day there is no way the cost is justified.

Again, can't find insurance costs, but I don't think it is nearly as much as you make it out to be.

Let's say you have 3 or 4 people in the ambulance, all EMTs, an EMT makes about 33k-50k a year so let's say 200k a year for salaries of people in the ambulance.

Let's say there are 3 shift changes per day and the average ride is 5 miles, ambulences get 10 MPG.

With 3 shift changes, you'd have roughly to cover 3 sets of EMT pays, so you have to cover 600k/yr or $1643.82/day.

Can't seem to find the actual numbers, but I'm gonna ballparck that a single ambulance does 5-10 actual trips to the emergency room per day in a large city. Split the pay over those trips and each trip should cost around $300, gas included.

It's important to remember that these things aren't running all day, but the EMTs still need to be paid.

Add maybe $50 for an epi shot and another $50 for the disposable equipment.

I may be quite off as I don't claim to be super knowledgeable in the inner workings of ambulances, but I'd wager that it doesn't cost the ambulance company any more than $500 per trip+time between trips.

There's of course some more overhead, replacing trucks, storing trucks, dispartrchig, cleaning trucks, insurance, etc. Which may raise the cost to $600-$700 but i couldn't see it costing anymore than that. The high end of which suggests expenses in the $150k/month/truck range which I doubt is the case.

People are paying $700 AFTER insurance which seems like it can only come from a place of pure greed. And all that considered those costs should very much be subsidized by taxes.

If anyone has data for me to go off of, that would be appreciated, I'll edit this post to fit that.

It's only entrapment if you wouldn't have done it unless the officer intimidated you into doing the crime or you would have only done it if it was a cop. In the gif, it's an unmarked car, so they didn't start racing because it was a cop, only because they got revved at, so all they did was a crime, not get entrapped.

Start of season 4 flash is probably a bit faster than savitar last season, so somewhere in the couple million mph range. Still pitifully slow by flash standards considering he has traveled at orders of magnitude greater than the speed of light in the comics.

At that speed, time dialation wise, time around him completely stops, or more accurately, we have no fucking clue what would happen at greater than c speeds.

I hate that last image, the originals may be faked, but that last one was faked by a completely different person, all the images of the people are far darker than they should be. The compression looks different, the positioning of the dots in the posted date • like • number of likes section is different. There are a lot of little things about that last image that make it obviously faked by someone who did not originate the original images.

Edit: totally forgot about the fact that Brendan Sullivan becomes Brendan Graves in that last image.
