[–] Former atheists who now believe a faith or religion of any sort, what caused you to change your mind? TheToitestofNups 1 points ago in AskReddit

If there’s anything more foundational to the nature of God, it’s that he doesn’t act according to what would make sense to the rest of us, I agree that that’s what I’d do if I was God, id reveal myself, I’d have no doubt people would follow me, but that’s the thing. I’m not God.

That wasn’t rude, it’s cool. I believe in my God because of how accurate the bible portrays Him, being in an atmosphere of worship and being reduced to tears as he said to me “I love you” as I cried out to him. I’m reminded everyday of how the traumatic memories my mother has never held her back from living the life that others in her situations would never have imagined. I’ve seen people rise above seasons that they would never have gone through without trusting God. I’m convinced that without God in my life, I would never have probably lived to my age, I’d just be another gang member from El Salvador who got a life sentence. It’s because of Him I had the privilege of living in Australia and being a part of his kingdoms expansion.

Plus: I don’t wanna sound too culty but damnit I owe so much to him

long read People believe that if you truly ignore everything and focus on that one thing you want, that you’ll only find god then.

Even from my own belief in Christianity I agree that there is a danger in being open to ignorance, but the harm comes from being dangerously ignorant of the world and how it effects yourself and those around you. In any adult life we know that if we stop moving for too long, no money, no food, no progression, no learning, we die. So yeah that’s right.

But It’s not the ignorance of your own situation that is the point, it’s the realisation that, yes life is real, people can be bad and the world is sour, and acknowledging it is important, but letting it determine your faith is counterintuitive to Christianity.

In my belief, the truth is that God is almighty and owes us nothing, he created us to expand his kingdom and gave us the choice to love him or not so that our relationship with him would be genuine. And despite being nothing of practical use to him, he loved us enough to rid us of sin through the death of the only sinless man he ever made (Jesus)

So that while the world is wishy washy with imbalance, he asks that we’d accept the forgiveness he offers and try our best to live in a way that aligns with his will - which we know through the bible and stopping what we’re doing and listening for his voice.

I hope that answers your question, although admittedly I probably tried to answer a few you didn’t even ask.

From what I know, it’s not whether he chooses to to talk, it’s about how determined we are to block out everything else and lean in, until we hear that voice.

r/the_donald and r/political humour are those two uncles who absolutely hate each other and are willing to yell at each other across the dinner table and while one is slightly worse than the other, they’re both assholes.

I missed seeing this, feeling nostalgic from a 5-3 year old joke, what am I?

[–] What is a cool/fun/interesting word that most people don't know? TheToitestofNups 0 points ago in AskReddit

To be fair, you have to be such a pessimist to be phobic of long words, they bring this upon themselves.

[–] Non-alcohol drinkers of Reddit, what keeps you off the grog? TheToitestofNups 2 points ago in AskReddit

Same. It’s a bastard and a half, I can totally see the appeal in it, but I’m just never sad to the point I wanna drink away the sorrow, not after what I’ve seen it do.

other people don’t seem to understand, I guess it’s a blessing, I just wish more people weren’t so relatively dependent on it.

I do neither, but it’s ridiculous how the lesser of two evils happens to be the one with restrictions.

[–] Australia pulls out of Saudi summit over Khashoggi death TheToitestofNups 4 points ago in worldnews

Finally some relief, I’ve been heaps cautious of how chummy the US and Aus have been recently, if we went alongside Trumps call of innocence for SA it’d be a shitstorm.

No offence my yank friends, but a few of us just wanna stay the hell away from you for now. You know... till things blow over. Much love cunts.

If they were acting the part they’d be defensive of Saudi Arabia like America, this is counterintuitive of being US’s lapdog, which is good.
