[–] Whats the most fucked up thing you have seen on reddit? TwerpOco 11 points ago in AskReddit

All the titles have "[something good] or [something bad]." You have to guess which one it is and evaluate how much you really want to see that good outcome given the risk that it could be the bad outcome instead.

This isn't rocket science. Males want attractive women, women want attractive men. Men rate physical beauty highly when judging attractiveness and women rate financial success highly when judging attractiveness.

Taken to the extremes, women are objectified sexually while men are objectified by their status. So it's not really that surprising that Christian Grey is basically a wallet with a penis.

Objectification more broadly means treating a person as a commodity or an object without regard to their personality or dignity.

    Literally the second sentence: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_objectification

Wealth is a commodity. It is entirely possible to objectify someone based on their wealth.

I can't believe I have to spell this out for you.

Treating a person as a commodity or an object without regard to their personality or dignity is objectification.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_objectification

Object of sex, wealth, power, whatever it may be.

Why is this a hard concept for you to grasp?

[–] One of the first things I saw on reddit, and still my favourite thing on the internet. TwerpOco 1 points ago in videos

Yes? When it comes to objectification in media, women are often seen as objects of sex whereas men are often seen as objects of social status like wealth.

[–] Reddit, what are the most useful askreddit posts? TwerpOco 9 points ago in AskReddit

Then as new useful threads accumulate over time, make another one of these. Then once there are enough of these "Best AskReddit Posts" threads accumulated, make a thread asking, "What are the best 'Best AskReddit Post' posts?"

Now you have a single thread full of threads like this one that link to useful threads.

you seeing what you want to see or something?

Precisely. OP "checked out" other works meaning skimmed through until they found something that suited their narrative.

It's a very fair assumption that I can only guess you're blind to because of fan service.

I didn't actually like the short film, but thanks for down voting me and continuing to assume things about other people. Grow up

this shows a lot wrong with the animator.

That's pretty bold of you to say just based on the artist's animation style.

edit: I can't believe I actually have to edit this, but I clearly meant the artists' style and thematic choices and not literally the thickness of the lines they drew.

I don't agree that surveillance is impossible

Who are you disagreeing with? I never said surveillance was impossible. I was talking about mass surveillance.

Text recognition is simple and they can use that information to then use higher levels of recognition like audio and then video (even 1fps is more than enough)

It's still expensive even at 1fps or having a speech-to-text process running. Not only for the devices, but how do you think that data gets to the NSA? Even disregarding the toll it would take on your phone, if you consider every device transmitting data to a single source it has to get there by going through ISPs. That is a lot of strain to put on a network all at once.

If they have the tech to track everyone's devices (which I don't believe) then it's stupid to think they wouldn't have the skills to prioritize targets.

I never said they didn't have the tech to prioritize. That was my whole point. The government doesn't give a shit about 99% of the population when it comes to surveillance, so there doesn't need to be a blacklist. A whitelist would be much more suitable if their intentions were to track relatively few suspects.

You do realize how much data you're talking about, right? Constant video and audio streaming from every device with an internet connection in the entire US. Not only is that ridiculously expensive on your device's CPU, but do you really think that much data is being uploaded and processed 24/7? I hope you understand that those "data recognition algorithms" aren't straight magic either. They are considerably expensive computationally and it's ludicrous to claim that the NSA has the computational power to analyze 323 million+ streams simultaneously (assuming just one device per US citizen). And sure, you could outsource the recognition algorithms to each device, but it's still computationally expensive since each device must now record, process, and upload the data through ISPs to the NSA. All while keeping the algorithms and processes hidden from every user.

Does the government have ways to tap your tech? Almost certainly. Does the US government keep all citizens under surveillance at all times? Almost certainly not.

[–] What is the most fucked up thing that society accepts as normal ? TwerpOco 2 points ago in AskReddit

It definitely was. I had to buy it for the Access Code to be able to do the homework. The fact that they try to disguise it as a service instead of price gouging and scummy practice irks me to no end. Fuck Pearson.

I paid $230 for a loose leaf physics textbook. And they had the audacity to call it "loose leaf for your convenience."

Machine learning can work the other way around too. Think of a counterfeit money printer that uses machine learning trying to fool a counterfeit money detector using machine learning for detection.

I paid $230 for my loose leaf Pearson Physics "textbook" because my class required that ISBN and the access code for the online homework. I swear the e-platform was written by some Comp Sci undergrad freelancer. It's horse shit. Worst part is the textbook tries to convey the lose-leaf format as "for your convenience" even though they're just being as cheap as possible and price gouging.

They don't like photomanipulations or just any composite. Just because a animated gif loops perfectly doesn't appeal to them.

To be fair, perfect loops aren't all that's needed for a cinemagraph. It's a bit like how a square must also be a rectangle but a rectangle is not necessarily a square. Cinemagraphs are perfect loops but not all perfect loops are cinemapgrahs. Saying they're pretentious just for liking a specific type of perfect loop is kinda ridiculous.

I don't see any attacks on women and neither do you. A few of the posts are pointing out the double standards that feminism ignores. Pointing out the hypocrisy of feminism does not equate to attacking women. If you think that feminism=women then you are naive.

Feminism claims that men are inherently privileged which is a major reason that men's rights discussions are continuously shut down. So many feminists claim to advocate for men's rights yet it is all too rare to see. That's why some people try to call out their hypocrisy on that sub.
