[–] What can 799$ buy me in your respective hobby? TwerpOco 4 points ago in AskReddit

Nothing, unless you're in Amsterdam where prostitution is legal and competition drives prices down.

[–] Gamers of reddit, what games did John "TotalBiscuit" Bain introduce to you over the years? TwerpOco 1 points ago in AskReddit

I was thinking of making a competitive team with some friends, but then the developer, Hi-Rez, announced that they were dropping Tribes to jump on the MOBA hype train with Smite. So the little flame that was the Tribes competitive community that had just begun to grow was snuffed out. That's what killed it for me :(

[–] Finland offers free online Artificial Intelligence course to anyone, anywhere TwerpOco 1 points ago in worldnews

Machine Learning is a subset of Artificial Intelligence. AI is very broad and deals with things like agents and their environments. It seems that while this course focuses on ML, it also gives a more broad overview of AI which you don't get with Google's ML crash course.

[–] HuniePop and other adult games may be removed from the Steam store by Valve due to violations of rules and guidelines for pornographic content on Steam unless said content is removed in game updates TwerpOco 11 points ago in Steam

For what it's worth, I agree with you. I'm shocked it sold so well, and despite the gameplay being "not-that-bad" it's still just a bejeweled-styled puzzler. The selling factor is obviously its sexual content. Maybe I'm a bit of a hypocrite since I've played the game. Anyways sorry you're being downvoted.

[–] So Shaco is confirmed "persona non grata" now, right? TwerpOco 4 points ago in shacomains

I main Shaco Support, and if it weren't for Oracles and his E sucking it would be pretty good. Almost any time we get ganked we get kills because of box set ups. Too bad a free item at level 1 completely shuts down any box set ups, his q, and q+ult.

Yeah, they suck. They're intrusive and won't go away until you fix it.

[–] Girl meets 10 ideal men at once TwerpOco 7 points ago in videos

These guys already have the odds stacked against them with 90% of them being rejected and that's post-physical attractiveness prerequisites. Plus, she's talking to all ten at once. So they're being judged on very brief conversations where her attention is already divided. In the end, she's guaranteed at least one guy of her choice and all but one guy gets rejected based on a few words exchanged.

[–] Men may never know the pain of childbirth, but women will never know the pain of finding out the child they've been raising isn't their own. TwerpOco 3 points ago * (lasted edited 2 months ago) in Showerthoughts

And in those cases the woman pours resources into the child of someone who betrayed her or violated her. Emotionally I'd say that's just as difficult, if not more so, than raising a child that isn't genetically yours

The difference is that she had a choice in the matter whereas the man is often legally bound to supporting the child after taking care of it even if it isn't his. I'm not saying raising your rape baby wouldn't be emotionally traumatizing, it certainly would be.

Another thing to note is that raising the child of your rapist isn't exclusive to women. Contrary to popular belief, men can get raped too and if the woman gets pregnant and she decides to carry to term, he's legally on the hook for support.

I know there's great guys who love the child they raised regardless but there's a lot out there who are more focused on themselves and how they were conned out of money.

It's not really about money. It's about the time and energy you invested into raising what you thought was your biological child only to find out you were used and lied to. It's also about the opportunity cost of actually being able to raise your own biological child.

I would get a paternity test even if I trusted my SO 100%. A paternity test is not an accusation. An accusation would be "you must have cheated on me" if the paternity test comes back false. A paternity test is a security check for peace of mind. Most people get intrusive thoughts. For the most part we ignore them. But if I didn't get a paternity test, an intrusive thought would fester over time and nag me that the child might not be mine no matter how untrue I know it is. This is what intrusive thoughts do. Getting a paternity test early on would mean not having to deal with that.

Even if one party views it as an accusation, it seems wrong to deny the other party a paternity test because someone's feelings are hurt that they would insinuate infidelity.

[–] Alleged driver in deadly Toronto van attack was an incel angered by the rejection of women. TwerpOco 3 points ago in worldnews

women have nothing to do with this shit, this is on you guys. Talk to your fellow men and discourage this shit, it's rampant

I will be sure to bring it up at the next man meeting.

In seriousness though, I think it's a cultural problem stemming from the expectations of dating. As clearly indicated by this thread, most people understand that incels are fucked up individuals. Having talks with our "fellow men" is preaching to the choir. Incels lack introspection so any criticism or discouragement of their actions bounces right off. You correlate incels with men and I think that's a true and important observation. The dating scene in Western culture requires that men make the first move, and that involves risking rejection. For whatever personal reasons (be it hygiene, personality, or otherwise), these incels get rejected a lot or they're afraid of rejection and over time they turn spiteful and adopt hate. Realistically, if we're to try to "solve" the problem of incels, we have to attack societal norms of gender roles in the dating world.

[–] Incredible feat by chess player Andrew Tang who managed to beat the chess AI LeelaChessZero in a bullet game (only 15 seconds per player) TwerpOco 2 points ago in videos

Leela actually dropped her queen twice in this tournament. What's interesting is that she dropped her queen in a very similar way in another game but Andrew ended up losing on time. In both games where she did this, Leela took a pawn in the center with her queen and missed the BH7+ discovery attack resulting in the queen's demise. It's surprising that she hasn't seen such common mistakes in her training.

You're right, classic engines do minimax searches with ab pruning up to a certain depth. It's worth noting, however, that Leela is also tree searching using a variation of Monte Carlo Tree Search, but the neural network only expands moves it thinks are likely to a certain depth then plays those games out a bunch of times to solidify new states to explore. In this case it probably didn't think BH7+ was a likely move for whatever reason based on its training set, and didn't bother to expand it.
