[–] Why is muting a user in modmail limited to 72 hours? A permanently banned user should be permanently muted. TwinklesheenLilith 2 points ago in ModSupport

Yes, people can abuse it. But with all the redesigning that's going on, why can't it be fixed so that the pera-mute can become an option only after a user has sent at least, let's say, two modmail messages? He was still given his chance to appeal if he had two contacts.

If I want to shut someone down on my facebook, Done. If I want to shut someone down on my Twitter, Done. If I want to block someone on Tumblr, Done. If I want to stop someone from contacting me on Imgur, Done. But that's not really going to happen on Reddit.

That's not a policy . . .that's a guideline for a healthy community. And there are plenty of users on this site using alt accounts to spread their racist and hate philosophy anywhere they can. I'm not supporting at all what that guy just said about TheDonald. Of course he is wrong on that point. But if I ban someone in one of my subs and his profile has every comment at Negative points, you better believe I'm going to ban him in all my other subs simultaneously. There are actions some users can do in one sub that will forfeit their rights in all my subs as far as I'm concerned. Keeping them out helps keep all my subs healthy.

The perma mute could be greyed out as an option until the user has had at least one modmail sent. Also, that doesn't stop the PM from being sent directly to the mods.

    unlike OP.

That was uncalled for. If you mod real subs, and especially the big kiddie subs, you'd understand that what OP suggests is truly needed. It is perfectly logical that if someone is permabanned that they should be allowed to be perma muted after they've sent at least one modmail. Also, the user can still send PMs, and in many cases the little shits do that immediately after being muted anyway.

u/Antidote, your suggestion is a good one. It's never going to happen, but it is a very good one. That's why most online forums do allow this. Reddit won't, but most do.

[–] Subreddit instantly banned? TwinklesheenLilith 9 points ago in ModSupport

Go here, look at the right side of your screen, and send them a message: /r/reddit.com/

I'm curious as to what country you are in? Where you at?

edit: oh dear. I googled your user name. Good luck with getting unspammed!

[–] Filtering all posts in subreddits pending approval. TwinklesheenLilith 1 points ago * (lasted edited 3 months ago) in ModSupport

Automod is way too complicated for this if this is all you want to do. The spam settings on All should do it.

If you don't want to list your sub, that's fine. But you should post a screenshot of this section of your settings so we can see them: https://i.imgur.com/aEHVvc0.jpg

And are you sure a previous mod hasn't already set up some bot or automod to automatically approve posts that get spammed?

edit: automod code and I'm assuming you're on old.reddit.com

    type: link submission

    action: remove

A bit more complicated, but I'm sure this code snippet below won't let anything through at all.

    type: link submission

    ~domain (regex): [reddit.com, imgur.com, ..., self..*]

    action: remove

we wouldn't be able to get reports like "OP edited his post

Yes, you would. There should be a link in your sidebar that says "Edited". It might be a toolbox thing though. We have toolbox installed. We have 2 users assigned to check the Edited section every day. You and u/brandonsmash keep making excuses for something that both of you can control completely.

You want us to go back and 'ignore reports/approve'

You could, and it sounds like you should, but at the very least you should start now and move forward. Get you some more mods and assign them to these tasks that you and the others seem to have trouble wanting to do.

Who the hell has the time or inclination

Seriously, if you don't have time to take care of your sub, which you just admitted you don't, you should remove yourself.

edit: ok admins...ok. Glad you got so much free time on your hands this morning that I became your personal mission. I noticed you didn't remove his comment though, did you?

[–] Spam filter: I have my filter set to “all” but posts are still making it to the page before being approved. Am I missing something? TwinklesheenLilith 2 points ago in modhelp

Why? If he has his spam filter set to "All", every post should be getting blocked for mod approval just like he wants. There's no need to add a major tool for this.

u/dazed63427, PM the sub. I'd like to test this if you really do have the Spam setting on "All".

    how often does that happen?

Not often at all actually. Even if the comments show up in the Edited section of the mod tools, they usually don't have to be removed. We have 2 people assigned to checking our "Edited Comments" section each day. In my 455,000 user sub, we get maybe 6 comments a day in it. . . but they never get removed because they don't break rules. They get approved and marked Ignore. Toolbox automatically marks something Ignore when it gets mod approved. It's quick and easy.

So it's okay for this guy to personally affront me on two comments, eh admins? But you don't remove his comments, just mine? It was a fun gif. You guys should lighten up and let me talk to the few users I was talking to. I had valid points, and I know I am right about the Ignore Reports button.

[–] More report button abuse TwinklesheenLilith -11 points ago in modhelp

We're not sitting there approving every thread as it's posted

Like I said. You don't know how to mod right. If you don't want to do it or take your sub seriously, then go to r/NeedAmod and find some users who will. Assign someone else the duty since you don't care. But don't come in here complaining and crying about admins not giving you the tools to do your job.

My sub has 179k users. Nowhere near your size. But I know I'm still right and it can be done.

[–] How can I halp? TwinklesheenLilith -2 points ago in gifs

Oh no! What the F! How are we ever going to recuperate from this catastrophe? It's the end times for sure.

[–] More report button abuse TwinklesheenLilith -10 points ago in modhelp

That has nothing to do with our issue.

    wow.

well, whatever. All I know is someone can go down my sub right now and hit the Reports button all they want to. I'll never see a one of them because all the posts have already been mod Approved and reports Ignored on all of them. Anyone complaining about Reports button abuse just doesn't know how to mod right.

FYI, I wasn't really trying to get you to endear me.

[–] More report button abuse TwinklesheenLilith -5 points ago in modhelp

The ignore reports button is your friend. Try it out.

[–] More report button abuse TwinklesheenLilith -3 points ago in modhelp

Trolls? On r/modhelp? On a sub run by admins and other future reddit employees? Nah.

seriously though, I've found this sub to be like a "safe space". It's okay here.

Are you going to be okay? What can we do to make you feel better about a 25 second gif?

As in, "Damn! She's a good painter and did a good job."

    I agree.

Anyone else getting tired of generic subreddits

No. and it's not like you have to subscribe to any of them.

all seem like boring overhyped karma farms.

Why are you even on reddit. Might tomorrow be the day you grow the f up?

[–] /u/dittidot TwinklesheenLilith 1 points ago in PimpYourMomForKarma

I only have one mother fuktard. Don't see you posting anything here but shit comments. Reddit 101, u/pipinngreppin, how to get yourself blocked. buh bye!

[–] Nicholas Brothers, 1943 TwinklesheenLilith 1 points ago in OldSchoolCool

This was awesome. Glad I found it by dumb luck. fyi, mods removed it.

[–] /u/dittidot TwinklesheenLilith 7 points ago in PimpYourMomForKarma

u/KnowsTheLaw, A user posting photo of herself doesn't count. learn the sub or fuk off. You can't pimp yourself.
