[–] So I am part of a traffic jam in Germany rn and just wanted to remind everyone that you should always build a emergency corridor at any time. Type_Whiter 2 points ago in pics

I lived in San Antonio, Texas for 25 years before moving to Austin a few years ago. I've only hear people honk maybe once a month (literally) and it's almost always a quick one to let car B know they are about to hit car A. And the traffic in San Antonio gets very bad and is always bad in Austin.

Oh okay. That makes more sense. Where you trying to dual boot?

Also, looking into it a bit (as I expected). Some leapfrog products already run Linux.

That isn't really a common use case. Lol. I've never even encountered a boot loop and I currently have 15 devices running Linux in my house. However, I've never tried it on a Leapfrog.

That's fair. But if people aren't even aware of Linux they might get intimidate by it entirely if I point them to the Arch wiki.

[–] Cops of reddit, what’s the most bullshit sounding excuse you got that actually turned out to be true? Type_Whiter 6 points ago in AskReddit

Yeah my aunt had had custody of her grandkids since they were less than 3 and they are like 15 years younger than me so I call them my niece and nephew. I know it's common in Hispanic communities around here. I don't know how common it is otherwise.

Nice. I'm always glad to help when it comes to FOSS (free and open source software). And there is sooo much info available online so don't be afraid to get really specific with your searches.

I use Clonezilla on a USB. You boot into it and it basically just uses dd to clone the whole disk or a partittion to an external drive. Also, if you clone the whole drive, you can restore individual partitions, which is nice. It really makes me regret only having one partition on my server... But I set it up on a whim and it quickly turned into something I use for a lot of stuff.

Well I have a spare laptop, maybe I'll try it out, then.

Generally I don't dual boot, but all my data is backed up to hell and back. Lol. I also keep disk images of my full hard drive so I can completely revert back to a known stable state if I ever accidently nuke anything.

Well, it tickles me to get to introduce it to you. Lol

I've really enjoyed having arch. I used to install an OS and then spend a whole removing a ton of crap I didn't want. Now, I just don't add it. I assume I'll try Linux From Scratch one day, but that will need some planning and a good chunk of time to do.

I got into Fedora because I was looking for a distro that works well with a 2 in 1 laptop and Fedora worked out of the box, then I realized there was a lot to like. I switched to Arch because I really wanted to learn about Linux at a more fundamental level.

Steam does have a fork of Wine! It's called Proton and there are lists of games that are known to work, but you can try any Windows game you want.

Edit: Here is ProtonDB where people can report how well games work.

I haven't tried Lubuntu but I hear it's good. I actually like Fedora more than Ubuntu, but recently switched to Arch which i don't really think I should recommend for people who don't know about Linux. I suggest Ubuntu because it's a very popular distro and looking into it will probably lead people to something that suits them.

I feel like a lot of people are going tk switch when W7 stops having support.
