[–] Judge Blocks Kentucky Fetal Heartbeat Law That Bans Abortion After 6 Weeks Valgg 2 points ago in news

If someone is dying from blood loss and you are the only compatible donor but you choose to not donate, you are not a murderer. You cannot harvest tissue from a corpse without their consent in life, even if that tissue could be used to save multiple lives and the dead obviously do not need a liver anymore. If a corpse has the right to decide how their organs are used (if at all), why shouldn't pregnant women. Considering the fetus a living being doesn't change the fact that the uterus belongs to the woman

I may even agree with you on what is considered life, i'll even go as far as to say that the fetus could be considered a different entity. The uterus still belongs to the mother through and she has the right to "stop it from working". So, until we develop teleportation and an artificial uterus, i'll remain pro-choice. Then there is the problem of back alley abortions or purposedly doing something that puts the fetus at risk (like not eating).

Businesses that sell food where you have to sit down (so not ice cream parlors for example) and are bigger than 250 squared meters (i think) are required to have either a separate bathroom or it is integrated into an existing one, but it still has a separate sink and toilet inside, it also has hand rails.

[–] Legal abortions = bad. Back alley abortions = ok Valgg 11 points ago in insanepeoplefacebook

If a fetus were able to survive without the womb then yes, but since they don't, a woman should be able to stop their womb from supporting the fetus, which can happen also in riskier ways when abortion is hard to get, banning abortion only leads to women starving themselves or coat hangers.

I'm not talking about the fetus, i'm talking about the womb. If it isn't murder to not let someone else have a part of you (be it blood, liver, or anything else) and they die for it, why should it be different to not want to have something using your womb.

You know what body autonomy means? It means that you have the right to decide what goes on with your body, if you can save someone's life by donating blood, but you do not want to donate it, by definition it's not murder. Even corpses have the right to not have their organs harvested unless they give consent in life. Why should women have less rights than a corpse?

[–] Indiana Senate committee passes bill to raise legal tobacco age limit from 18 to 21 Valgg 1 points ago in news

I don't really know the actual statistics, it's just something i noticed in high school (for cigs and alcohol the legal age where i live is 18), people underage would get em by using other people's documents (or having them buy). At least stuff you buy from the shop is probably safer than what you buy from the street. That said, i really wish there was a simpler way of fixing addiction problems, a lot of people at my hs smoked.

The more something is restricted (or taxed) , the more people do illegal stuff to get it. For example weed is illegal where i live but people still buy it and all that money feeds the mafia.

[–] VACCINES ARE MADE FROM ABORTED BABIES!!!!! Valgg 14 points ago in forwardsfromgrandma

It has some foundation in reality. To produce some vaccines you need to use cells, and those cells happen to be the offspring of cells exctracted from a fetus like 40 years ago. That's it, the cells are not the original ones and they are removed anyway, the claims of antivaxxers are made to instill fear without including the right details.

My cat manages to resists the urge to jump on the table and eat my food. It's pathetic when humans (if these incels can be classified as such) have less control over themselves than house pets.

[–] This comment was on a post about the death penalty Valgg 8 points ago in insanepeoplefacebook

Ok, this conspiracy has some foundation in reality. To produce some vaccines you need cells. It happens that the human cells used are clones from cells originally taken decades ago from a fetus. The cells used are not the original tissue and using the argument of "aborted babies cells" is as stupid as "i won't eat this apple because the tree it came from touches the ground". It's one of those things that people who know nothing about biology spew out of their rear

[–] Vaccines contain aborted fetal cells, apparently. Valgg 38 points ago in vaxxhappened

It's like saying "i won't eat this apple because someone has touched the tree with their hands"

[–] Iowa's 'fetal heartbeat' abortion ban ruled unconstitutional Valgg 5 points ago in news

Where i live in the last 10 years it went from 2-3 weeks of 30 cm of snow each year to 2 days of 10 cm snow or so at most. I think fear of climate change is justified.

[–] Iowa's 'fetal heartbeat' abortion ban ruled unconstitutional Valgg 10 points ago in news

I'll give you a simple example. Let's say i have a brother and he needs a liver transplant. I am the only person in the world with a suitable liver. I refuse to give him a piece of my liver and he dies. Legally i cannot be charged for murder. That is because body autonomy exists. Now i'll add some different arguments. Let's say abortion is illegal and a pregnant woman falls off the stairs and has a miscarriage. You cant really prove if there was intent or not. Also miscarriages can happen in even more morally ambiguos situations, let's say that woman miscarried due to eating nothing, do you make eating disorders illegal too? Making clinic abortions illegal would lead to way more dangerous methods that put 1 additional life at risk. Then there is the argument of what can happen if children are unwanted or from mothers that cannot support (financially, emotionally, underaged or any other number of reason) children. Finally there is the argument of the physical and emotional strain that both abortion and childbirth bring, i think i can speak for most when i say that women do not enjoy geting abortions. I think that choice in most cases is an educated decision based on what alternative is the worst, not a random "Yay unprotected sex so i can visit the clinic".

I like cat posts but i am fully aware that my cat is not a bright bulb (she wants to be cuddled and will follow you everywhere but if you touch her she'll scratch you). Cats are cute.

Also: i already give back to my country, they are called taxes. Secondly, i do not live in the US but i will still hold on to my principles even if my country decides to randomly go to war. I would be "ok" with being taxed more if i did not serve, but i sure as hell would not kill someone on behalf of a government i didn't support anymore.

[–] Prohibition was a good idea and it is a shame it didn’t work. Valgg 3 points ago in unpopularopinion

The problem is that "something" is hard to do, another example are cigs. Cigarettes are not illegal but buying them from shops costs more than the omnipresent criminal underground because they are heavily taxed for example. More control may mean that less people abuse them but it can create other problems like aforementioned contraband or people going homeless because they are costly, it's hard to decide where exactly to put the stop sign in order to do more good than harm.
