[–] If 5 years ago you could see now you at this exact moment, what would you think? VintageFirstEdition 1 points ago in AskReddit

Eight years ago I suffered a nervous breakdown. I quit my job and went on disability. I laid in bed and ate and contemplated suicide everyday. I remember having bouts of anxiety for days where it felt like my skin was on fire and I just wanted to lay there and scream. I couldn’t leave the house to do anything, grocery shopping was a Herculean task. Five years ago I moved in with a family member and was making arrangements to go back to school to start a new career. That career didn’t work out and I suffered a huge setback. (I went to culinary school to be a pastry chef, and after a year and a half of VERY hard work I needed surgery on both of my shoulders because I over worked them. And because of this I’ll have pain everyday of my life.) June 2017 I went back to my old career at a company where I have never been treated worse. Around this time I decided that my life wasn’t going to get better if I didn’t start trying harder. Today I weigh 100 pounds (exactly) less than I did at my highest weight. Four months ago I got a new job that pays 85% more than my last job, and I am the boss. I have the most amazing staff and I am completely in love with my job. Five years ago, if I could see myself at this exact moment, what would I think? I’d think- that can’t be me. This can’t be right. I wish I could see myself five years from now.

[–] What kind of death do you fear the most? VintageFirstEdition 1 points ago in AskReddit

I don’t want to die in a car accident, or a mass shooting/ other terrorist style death. I’d hate to have my face plastered all over social media.

[–] What's the worst adult tantrum you've ever witnessed? VintageFirstEdition 1 points ago in AskReddit

Pharmacy workers do not get enough credit. I’d say about 75% of the interactions I have at the pharmacy I feel TERRIBLE and I can’t be fucking bothered to be polite. And I am normally a very kind, polite and patient person. I work in customer service and I could not do this job. Never...I’m gonna go thank my pharmacist.

[–] Look out your window. What do you see? VintageFirstEdition 1 points ago in AskReddit

I’m on a train. I see beautiful New England foliage. Rain. Little colonial houses.

[–] What was your near-death experience? VintageFirstEdition 1 points ago in AskReddit

I had mono really bad when I was 25. I was in quarantine in ICU for a week. That’s not my near death experience but it’s the beginning of it. Two weeks after I got out of the hospital I had to get an emergency root canal. It was my first root canal and I knew they hurt, I couldn’t believe how much though. I sobbed the whole way to my parents house and laid down and just started wailing. My mom called the dentist to tell him I was in a lot of pain and he called in a prescription and mentioned something about “drug seeking behavior “. Three days went by and the pain never let up and my head started swelling so she called the dentist again and he said to come in. I remember that my sunglasses didn’t fit over my face. I remember sitting in the waiting room and seeing the dentist look up from the patient he was working on and drop everything and come running out, I vaguely remember an ambulance ride? The next thing I knew I was coming out of surgery. Apparently I had some sort of blood poisoning from the root canal and my immune system was weak from the mono. The doctor said a half hour later and I’d have been in a coma. I’m lucky I lived through it.
