She says, "Alexa, tell me about The Rock" enough for Petra to have learned that?

Thank you for the comment. This subreddit is a meta subreddit for things that involve Youtube.

But it's not limited to copyright abuse. I know that's where a lot of people came from in their introduction to the subreddit, but that does not mean the subreddit will shift it's purpose to only being that.

/r/Youtube exists solely to spotlight issues on Youtube, and is much larger at that.

This is an archive of the year. All of it.

You are completely free and able to create that subreddit, and this one can include everything under that umbrella, but it's not the reason this subreddit exists.

There's not another place that serves just to archive things of significance on the web, and so I wanted to make that place. The copyright issues are a problem now, but once those are solved this subreddit will still be collecting events of note.

The egg thing is one of the largest stories to happen this month, it has transcended Instagram and bled over into Youtube too. But really I'm trying to include everything that is a meme throughout the year too. Insta, Twitter, Reddit, Youtube, etc.

The core of this subreddit can be expressed with, "is it something of significance happening on Youtube?"

Not every video should be posted here. This post is about how the platform and social media can be used to skew information regardless of the context of a situation.

Trends, memes, events, cases of abuse; all belong here because they represent something that characterizes Youtube at this point in time. "2019 January" should be able to be searched in the future and result in the big things that happened this month.

Also, /r/videos does not allow this post, as they consider it political. /r/Youtube does not allow videos to be posted.

Celebrating, feeding? What do you mean by that?

The goal of this sub isn't solely to complain about Youtube. It's an archive of what happens throughout the year. You can make another community dedicated only to hating on the platform, but that is not the purpose of this one.

I created the subreddit to be an archive of any significant event in the Youtube–social media sphere, so the year can be looked back upon.

This is a video that went viral, sparking a lot of discussion and controversy, making it a notable event. It's being misrepresented in the media, which is also notable since it's a demonstration of how a story can be skewed resulting in a lot of misplaced harassment.

I didn't want to link to the video that went viral since it is misleading and limited in context, so instead I linked to a video that gave further context.

The subreddit exists for any kind of news on Youtube that is relevant to the platform.

Pete's banning and subsequent move to Youtube over satire is definitely relevant to that.

This is something occurring on Youtube though, that's the point of the subreddit.

If a meme blows up on Twitter, Instagram, etc. but is relevant to Youtube, it can be added there.

This is a story that has blown up on Twitter, with media and several high profile people condemning the student.

The story that most media outlets are publishing is that the student, who was attending a March for Life (anti-abortion) protest in DC, walked up with his group and began to block the path of a Native American veteran playing traditional drums.

It seems the Native American man actually approached the group himself, and began playing his drums directly in front of a student. The student did not move or harass the man in any way, but smiled as he played. In the video, this comes off smug and like the student is intentionally mocking the man.
