[–] Credit Where It’s Due: Democratic Leaders Have Not Caved Like a Bunch of Weenies on the Border Wall advocate4 140 points ago in politics

This is only roughly the 10000th post saying when a hypothetical event comes to pass (with some actually occurring) it will destroy the Republican party.

Its not happening folks. Republican voters always come home. The only event in the last 10 years which arguably may have split the party, the Tea party uprising, was the equivalent to changing out the curtains in the home.

Why won't this happen? Because the system, as presently designed, does not allow for more then 2 viable parties. Its why a primary remains the only way to install these offshoots of each party.

Vikings fans in a nutshell. "They beat us in the playoffs when we thought we'd win, so we hate them now."

Besides the Atlanta Falcons, please see the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, and the Philadelphia Eagles.

*Downvote away you horny bastards, I live up here and see you all doing it. Oh its true, IT'S DAMN TRUE.

THANK YOU! Makes my blood fucking boil when people suggest it would have been better to not get our daughter vaccinated as she may not have gotten Autism. So possible death is a better alternative given your very wrong understanding of the research? Go fuck yourself.

Barron County Sherriff had ruled out early in the investigation that she was an accomplice to this, but I guess we'll know more very soon.

I sort of get it. The world can be an evil place, and sometimes when awful things happen it helps to believe it happened for a reason... Like a daughter assisted in her parents murder to run away instead of a stranger doing it and abducting her.

Thay said, the sheriff had ruled that out early in the process.

As a parent, I'd rather die a thousand times then see my child die once.... Speaking of fates worse then death.

Also fair, and I too hope her the best in her recovery. Sorry if I seemed overly harsh in my response.

Fair enough on chronic versus acute (although 3 months is stretching the concept of acute trauma IMO...), more making a point that suggesting a bounce back may be misplaced. Also the idea kids bounce back in general is misplaced.

*FYI, I think you are taking the concept of neuroplasticity and somewhat misapplying it to concepts of trauma and posttraumatic individual growth. I understand the concept of neuroplasticity, my issue is it seems you are suggesting given her age her recovery process is going to go better given that idea. I think thats a bit much, dependent on the specific events she experienced. I also think calling what occured an acute stressor is wrong, again dependent on what specifically she experienced. I would be incredibly reluctant to classify potentially 3 months of ongoing psychological abuse and trauma as acute. She has incredible support, which will help her in her journey, but every person has different resiliencies and age is not necessarily as protective a factor as you are suggesting for such a potentially serious trauma (again, dependent on the specifics of her experiences).
