You are so brave! Proud of you for getting up there and doing it! I know it must be scary!

[–] Anybody need a Halloween Costume? aquiferousmiss 2 points ago in GNV

YES... we should organize something! Like a meet up at Depot Park and we can put everything out on a blanket or something, or maybe Cypress & Grove (or something similar) where there are tables. Or maybe the GNV Hackerspace would want to organize something (I know they have resources to further repurpose the costumes)

[–] [Serious] Reddit, what was a simple gesture from a stranger or acquaintance that made all the difference? aquiferousmiss 0 points ago in AskReddit

Your friends didn’t cause you to almost commit suicide and they can’t help you with your depression. Only you can, with the help of trained professionals. If it is bad, please find a group therapy near you. Plenty of free resources and you will meet others with similar struggles. I promise hope is out there, just take the leap and go to a group. Or if you have a history of substance abuse, find an AA meeting. Or an ACA meeting if your parents were alcoholics/addicts. Please get help!

Damn, I wrote you the longest comment and it didn't post for some reason. Maybe it's a sign I wasn't being a good listener. I can empathize with being depressed, I was in a dark place for a long time and somehow made it to the other side. I hope you don't feel like you need to defend yourself against me, I'm not being judgmental. Just if you don't understand why girls don't give you the time of day, it might be worth considering that the negative thoughts you're having are (perhaps subtly) permeating your interactions. I hear two things, "I am a great person and everyone agrees" and "No one truly cares about me and I am not good enough." Similarly, "I always try to connect with women romantically" and "I spend all of my time in total seclusion." This is not to call you out, only to make the point that growth requires self-reflection, but when you are depressed the reflection is distorted. Your reality is clouded, have you tried therapy? I know it's hit or miss, took me a while to find a good one but it was instrumental in my recovery. Anyway, humans are social beings and connection is so important for fulfillment. I know it is hard to be without it. If you don't have it and you want it, I promise it is out there. If it doesn't make sense why you aren't connecting with people, it is something you aren't seeing and if you want to change it you need to figure out what it is. There are people who can help. I honestly hope the best for you. Fear can be paralyzing. Fear of what we would even do if we get what we want (I'm hearing some of that), but the risk is so low when you're already at rock bottom. Perfect time to start making changes.

*edit: I read another post of yours: "I'm always looking for someone to make me whole again, but I doubt it'll ever happen." You have to be whole first. That's the key.

Do you... try to connect with women in a romantic way? Self-pity/a negative attitude is a huge turn off, so it’s often a really terrible feedback loop. I hope you find happiness and connection!

My therapist (PsyD) had me read the diagnostic criteria from the DSM5 and decide for myself. He offered it up as a theory and we read through them together. Might be useful to do

[–] Progressing from unstructured workout to SC - but I would like some guidance aquiferousmiss 2 points ago in StrongCurves

Been doing SC for 2.5 years, I think starting with gorg glutes will be ideal in your case. I’ve made tons of upper back and arm gains from gluteal goddess so you might wanna hold off and see how you feel just working the lower body. Adding a few ab exercises is a good idea (I’ve never done gorgeous glutes, I don’t think it has any?) but I would take them from BB or gluteal goddess. This was plenty of an work for me and anymore might be too much.

Re: q3, you do three sets of A1+A2+rest (superset 1) and then you do three sets of B1+B2+rest (superset 2), not sure what you mean by this question

The rest of your questions are answered in detail in the book and I highly recommend you get it. See if your local library has a copy!

[–] How long does it usually take you to complete a personal project? aquiferousmiss 1 points ago in datascience

This is such a vague question and I can’t see how a sample of project times from projects ranging in complexity would be useful? If your project is taking too long, try breaking it up into smaller pieces and consider them “mini” personal projects? Idk what else to tell you.
