Personally, I see Hickenlooper as a bit of a joke, full stop. I live in Durango, and the stunt he pulled with the Animas after the mine disaster (drinking a glass of it to "prove that it's safe") made me lose what little respect for him I already had.

Not to mention his endless decrying of Amendment 64. While I don't think it should have been implemented as a state amendment, it was clear that the majority of the state was supportive of the intent. Shut your trap and sign it, dufus.

I really can't stand "moderate Democrats".

[–] Cannabis, from seed to harvest bricked_machine 12 points ago in Damnthatsinteresting

I'm 40, and was just talking about this recently with my wife. It's amazing to me that you'd very often spend time popping out the seeds, only to still end up with one in the pipe; now, I can drive 1/4 mile to the dispensary, buy as much as I want of whatever strains that I want, and the thought of finding a seed never occurs to me.

In fact, seeds are now a somewhat-sought-after item, and the good ones are quite expensive.

In “7empest,” a minor guitar arpeggio gives way to a balls-to-the-wall metal stomp full of angst and inchoate anger, spiraling into control rather than out of it.

I knew they still had it.

Having the original media is the best possible scenario...rip it to a computer and use the highest possible (lossless) media type. You'll then have the best quality audio possible to take with you wherever you go (and can convert it to a high bitrate MP3 if you need to), as well as the original in case something happens to it. Also, the packaging and original artwork will make it worth the price alone.

[–] Saying a movie has a 'great twist' is the exact same as a spoiler bricked_machine 1 points ago in movies

Ugh, a similar question was just raised in a post in r/books (about worst character deaths). Like an idiot, I began reading the thread and had a book series that I'm currently reading become partly spoiled for me. (No spoilers tag anywhere to be found, of course.)

Interesting, I guess I never realized there was a Lagavulin 9-year (I've only ever seen and had the 16).

Yeah, I really like his cover of it, and thought it was a great adaptation (I'm a huge Peter Gabriel fan, so I guess that makes me quite biased). I really like a lot of the tracks on Scratch My Back.

His interpretation of Street Spirit (Fade Out), on the other hand...ugh.

    Yes, yes we are.

    Fuck you, ICE.

    Fuck you, Trump administration.

    Your time is almost up.

[–] TIL When Ringo Starr temporarily left the Beatles in 1968 because he felt side-lined, his fellow Beatles sent him a telegram telling him that he was the best drummer in the world and that they loved him. He returned, and found his drumkit covered in flowers, spelling out "Welcome Back, Ringo.". bricked_machine 1062 points ago in todayilearned

I didn't get it either so I looked it up on Wikipedia:

Patricia Anne Boyd (born 17 March 1944) is an English model and photographer. She was one of the leading international models during the 1960s and, with Jean Shrimpton, epitomised the British female "look" of the era. Boyd married George Harrison in 1966 and experienced the height of the Beatles' popularity as well as sharing in their embrace of Indian spirituality. She divorced Harrison in 1977. She later married Harrison's friend Eric Clapton in 1979 and they divorced in 1989. Boyd inspired Harrison's songs such as "If I Needed Someone", "Something)" and "For You Blue", and Clapton's "Layla" and "Wonderful Tonight".

This is a growing trend in the American Southwest, unfortunately. It's good that people appreciate our wilderness more than 20- 30 years ago, but it's unfortunately being appreciated to death.
