[–] If you could erase one person from history who would it be and why? bustead 1 points ago in AskReddit

Luis Garavito, Colombian rapist and serial killer.

In 1999, he admitted to the rape, torture and murder of 138 children and teenagers but the true number of victims may exceed 300

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luis_Garavito

Usually the victim would endure prolonged rape and torture by having his buttocks stabbed and sharpened objects inserted into his anus; his testicles were often severed and placed into his mouth. The bodies of the children were all found completely naked, and all bore bite marks and signs of anal penetration; bottles of lubricant were found near the bodies, along with empty liquor bottles. Most corpses showed signs of prolonged torture.

nah I want it to exist. I want a career change but I don't think I should leave any unfinished business behind me after I left.

Pipetting. It is like 80% of my job.

Plot twist: automatic pipetting machines exist but most labs that I have worked in don't have them

[–] Trump thought North Korea did not have ballistic missile capabilities ‘because Putin told him so’ bustead -1 points ago in worldnews

Got to apologized for that. Totally forgot that Hwasong-15 was tested late 2017.

Analysts have noted that the re-entry vehicle has a blunter nose than previous designs, which can accommodate a larger diameter warhead and reduces re-entry stress and heating at the cost of accuracy.

So it carries a larger warhead but sacrifices accuracy. Possiblely to accommodate a larger nuclear warhead. The throw weight estimation varies between 300kg to 1000kg.

IMO, North Korea is less advanced in nuclear weapon miniaturization than other non-P-5 countries (India, Pakistan, Israel) and the North Koreans will need a larger warhead to achieve the same yield.

For comparison, Agni-V, the Indian ICBM currently being tested, has a throw weight of 1500kg. If my assumption is correct (I am open to criticism), North Korean nukes will be larger than Indian ones and thus cannot be fitted onto Hwasong-15

While I am not a fan of Trump, I don't think the title is accurate.

"The president launched into several unrelated diatribes. One of those was commenting on the recent missile launches by the government of North Korea. And, essentially, the president said he did not believe that the North Koreans had the capability to hit us here with ballistic missiles in the United States. And he did not believe that because President Putin had told him they did not. President Putin had told him that the North Koreans don’t actually have those missiles,” said McCabe.

Not having ballistic missiles and not having ballistic missiles that can strike the US are very different things. North Korean ICBM program is not really that advanced and the only Hwasong-14 Hwasong-15 has the range to threaten continental United States. With a relatively small throw weight of 500kg up to 1000kg, it is likely that the missile can only carry a very small warhead with limited countermeasures against American missile defense systems.

That again, Trump chose the wrong source to believe. Trusting Putin over your own agents is unbelievable to say the least.

EDIT: Thank you u/remembersetter for reminding me that Hwasong-15 had been tested in 2017
