[–] Dave cat blepping like a pro. 👌🏻 cuddles_like_a_rock 1 points ago in Blep

Lol! He is called Dave cat. To distinguish him from our neighbour Dave. “Dave is mowing the lawn” “Dave cat is eating a worm” The one word makes a huge difference!! 🤣🤣

Officially he is just Dave, but our friend and neighbor is called Dave so we have got into the habit of calling him Dave cat to avoid confusion! It started when I said to my friend “Dave has started to poo in the garden” and my friend joked “I hope you mean Dave cat, not Dave neighbor!”

    Well that’s something I can’t un know! 😂

Sure is! We’re a cat loving home here! It’s my 9 year old daughters, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a teeny bit jealous!

Officially just Dave, but our friend and neighbour is also called Dave, so it avoids confusion. “Dave is licking his penis in the back garden” becomes less horrifying when cat is added!

[–] Worst destination in Europe? (From the list) cuddles_like_a_rock 1 points ago in Shoestring

I have been to some, but not all of those places and l, like others have said, purely on keeping the costs down, I would lose one of the Scandinavian cities. That list looks like one awesome trip for someone!

I love Venice! I stayed on the Lido and travelled to the main part by water bus. It does get super busy in peak times, but so do most other big tourist cities.

[–] Police roadside drug test showed I had used cannabis even though I've never smoked in my life cuddles_like_a_rock 7 points ago in LegalAdviceUK

Some of the comments further down suggested that, not the OP. Out of interest, I googled and it seems like quite a lot of prescription medication can affect the roadside tests.

Honestly, if this was me, I would be getting the media involved. It’s totally unfair and wrong that despite the OP doing everything they should have, they are being disadvantaged in this way.

Hmmm, I would contact the Financial Ombudsman and get their take on it. NAL but this seems in contravention of the Disability Discrimination Act. If it’s known that asthma medication can give a false positive and your insurance company haven’t made a reasonable adjustment to take that into account, it means you are being unfairly disadvantaged because of your disability/illness. I might be clinging to straws here but I’d be kicking up a stink if it was me. Good luck!

[–] This is my stool this morning, why is it so dark? cuddles_like_a_rock 3 points ago in medical

Are you eating food rich in iron or taking iron supplements?

Did you eat something that could account for that?

Either way, dark, sticky stool can be a sign of gastrointestinal bleeding and should always be investigated as a matter of urgency.

[–] Inhaled a piece of food today and hasn’t come up... cuddles_like_a_rock 1 points ago in medical

I did the same thing with a piece of sweetcorn once. I went to the doctor and they sent me for an x-ray which I thought was odd. Anyway, a few days later I came over all hot and sweaty and dizzy and did a big cough and there it was! I’m not sure if that helps you or not, hopefully the same thing will happen for you?

[–] AITA to be creeped out by how a waiter treated my daughter and for making her say thank you? cuddles_like_a_rock 28 points ago in AmItheAsshole

I think we totally underestimate how intuitive kids can be, and encouraging them to say no to doing something that feels wrong will hopefully, I believe, result in a sensible and assertive child and, subsequently, adult!

I heard somewhere that a good way to describe it to kids is a good secret, like a birthday present for example, will make you feel happy but a secret that makes you feel bad or sad or anything except happy you should always talk about. I liked that as an idea.

[–] Hey Reddit, what's the strangest coincidence you've ever personally experienced? cuddles_like_a_rock 1 points ago in AskReddit

In 1995 I was getting ready to do an exchange from my UK University to a University in the USA. I was working my part time job in a store when a group of Americans came in and I got chatting to one of them. Turned out they were a group of friends on vacation together that all studied at the very University I was about to go to in the US! Fast forward a few months and I was in America and decided to join a firearms class (while in Rome!) there was only 10 spaces on this course and one of the other 9 people was part of the group that had been in the store I worked in back home earlier that year! Out of thousands of students at that university it blew my mind that this happened!

[–] What is the most amazing story of outstanding customer service that you have ever received? cuddles_like_a_rock 3 points ago in AskReddit

I love the little extra attention to detail that some businesses put in, particularly small businesses like on Etsy, it always makes me go back too! Makes it feel more personal and like they care.

Ah, that’s nice. I always think it’s so much better for someone to own up to a mistake than try to cover it up with bullshit. It’s so obvious when people do that and just feels so dishonest.

I’ll share mine. When my oldest daughter was 3 and obsessed with Peppa Pig, my sister and I decided to take her to Peppa Pig World (I’m in the UK) I arranged a babysitter for my youngest who was too little at the time, and so I could have some special time with my big girl! We drove the 2.5hr journey from home to the park ,only to find when we got there that it was closed! I was gutted as I had been so looking forward to enjoying Peppa Pig World through the eyes of my daughter. I messaged a friend that lived not too far away for some suggestions of things to do locally so we at least did something fun that day. She suggested a soft play centre so we headed there, not exactly Peppa Pig World, but my daughter would like it. When we were paying to get in I explained to the staff there what had happened and they felt so sorry for us! About 30 minutes later, I was amazed to see a Peppa Pig mascot heading straight for us! The staff had got together and decided that one of them would get into the Peppa Pig costume they had for birthday parties and come down to surprise my daughter (and me!) My daughter got to have one on one time with Peppa, who took her for a walk around the soft play centre (it was pretty quiet that day) and they even gave her a Peppa Pig goodie bag. Once we’d had some photos Peppa had to get back to her day job so my daughter gave her a big hug goodbye and was thrilled to bits! I spent the whole time trying desperately not to cry!! I was so touched by their kindness, it really made our day special and my daughter, who had no concept of what Peppa Pig World actually was, just figured she had indeed visited there that day! Those people did an awesome job that day! I’m only sad it wasn’t close enough to visit more regularly, but I left a glowing review on their Facebook page which hopefully ensured they got the credit they deserved! 😊
