Or stand in the middle of a sidewalk with heavy foot traffic.

oh yeah i forgot the lights would dim every few minutes, the place would fill with fog, and you had to shoot the other teams orb to gain extra points. fun depot laser tag just doesn't compare.

i actually really miss the laser tag venue at river ridge marketplace. i think it was called Laser Storm. super ghetto place with heavy fog and someone once pooped on the carpet.

what's crazy is Asheville used to have electric trolleys from Montford all the way to Sulphur Springs Rd (Hominy Creek Greenway). more info on the past history of trolleys in NC. some of the infrastructure was washed away during the great flood of 1916, which also happened to be the early days of the automobile industry which lobbied against public transportation and pedestrian infrastructure in favor of pushing car sales to the individual consumer. it's really fucked up how the automobile industry devastated public infrastructure in the U.S. for decades to follow.

[–] Your 411 for parking in downtown Asheville defacedlawngnome 1 points ago * (lasted edited 7 hours ago) in asheville

oh oh, lemme guess, his name is "J. Crooks"?? i was recently issued an "overtime" parking citation for parking here. dumbass officer Crooks wrote that i was parked 47mins over the nonexistent 4hr limit. i took photos of where i was parked as well as linking to google street view in my appeal to parking services. they dismissed the ticket within an hour of appealing but it's fucking bullshit i even had to do that. i'm sure there are plenty of people that don't realize you can appeal bullshit citations. fuck him to hell with a brass pineapple. his last name is ironically fitting for the asshat he is.

[–] Good place to sleep in car for one night? defacedlawngnome 0 points ago in asheville

nah, police don't patrol Montford heavily unless something has happened in the community. as long as you don't have drugs or alcohol in/on you they'll just tell you to park elsewhere. i often see people camping in their vehicles in the gravel lot on cherry st. there are parking restrictions in that lot but i don't see it heavily enforced.

i think you'd have better luck parking on the street here or in this lot.

you should see the amount of homeless sleeping on every corner and in every doorway these days. police really could care less about you as long as you're peaceful and minding your own business.

e: also, this is another lot i see people leave their cars in overnight/camp out of.

Park along a neighborhood street in Montford. There's also the Cherry St lot beside the skate park. People camp in their cars there all the time, you're right beside the interstate, and there's a 24hr harris teeter just a few blocks away. Hell, you could probably sleep in your car at the back of the Harris Teeter lot. As long as you're not bothering people you won't be bothered.

I once emptied half a bottle of daves gourmet insanity ghost pepper sauce onto my food. Going down was easy, it was the digestion that got me. I was so hot and sweating so profusely that I had to strip down to my underwear while writhing in pain on my living room floor for several hours. I almost contacted poison control but managed to struggle through the pain. Have you ever pissed fire?

[–] Pixels really do not lose out vs many DSLRs defacedlawngnome 1 points ago in photography

in response to the first image you linked, you actually can take a similar long exposure depending on which phone you use. i have an LG g7 and took this waterscape pic using manual settings and a tripod. and here's a shot of the milky way i took just the other night, in a single exposure. this macro of a bee was also taken with my phone using a clip-on lens. here's a long exposure of traffic. here's a composite of two lightning pics, both taken with my phone and blended in lightroom. and lastly, one more milky way pic and some light painting. obviously the image quality of a phone is incomparable when it comes to high end cameras, but many phones are undeniably better than average DSLR's of the early and mid-00's.

[–] I want to begin photography, what camera should I start with? defacedlawngnome 1 points ago in AskPhotography

also, a phone of today can take as good or better photos than, say, an average DSLR from the mid 2000's. so i could argue that a modern phone does take better photos than a DSLR but that's entirely dependent on what camera you're comparing my phone to.

[–] I want to begin photography, what camera should I start with? defacedlawngnome 1 points ago in AskPhotography

yes. hence my post. i'm not claiming that phones are as good as DSLR's or mirrorless cameras, but they certainly can get the job done depending on what you're photographing.

You're getting downvoted but phones can take seriously good pics these days. I snapped this shot of the milky way the other night with my g7.

What phone do you have? You might not realize it but your phone, depending on make/model, might already have manual settings. I've been shooting with mine for a few years, just snapped this single exposure of the milky way just the other night and this shot of the moon rising but what it really boils down to is what kind of photography do you want to do? A phone is okay for landscape photos or insect macros if you use a clip-on lens but if you want to do portraits or events you're far better off with a dedicated system with interchangeable lenses. I recommend Sony a series cameras. My personal fave is the a7ii with adapted Canon FD lenses.

It's not deceiving if I'm being straightforward about it being a composite.
