[–] I have the chance to be a military pilot, at the cost of losing my family...because I am a woman. drneeley 4 points ago in exmormon

    1) Tell your dad to fuck off with his emotional manipulation caca.

    2) Therapy.

    3) Become a pilot.

    4) You are gonna meet a million fine marriable men in the military that are gonna fight over the chance to marry a strong woman.

    5) You are only 25? That is young to get married anyway. Don't rush.

Always meant to ask, what is the antenna for on its head?

[–] Yikes tithing is a lot. drneeley 1 points ago in exmormon

Rusty changed the temple ceremony so you don't have to subservient to your husband anymore, God was totally just kidding before about women being second class!

Just pay it with cash if you want like an adult.

[–] Yikes tithing is a lot. drneeley 5 points ago in exmormon

Yeah we ended up with the 5% agreement, cause she has certainly sacrificed a lot to get me through med school and residency while raising three beautiful kids. I think it's only fair to consider it all as "our" income instead of just "my" income.

Can't go down the path of explaining where the money really goes. She's not ready for that yet. Hopefully someday!

Just finished my fifth year of residency, and I am allowed to do "real" work making big bucks moonlighting during my fellowship, so it was my first really big "doctor" paycheck. I thought tithing would hurt less when I made more money. Nope, hurts more.

[–] Yikes tithing is a lot. drneeley 5 points ago in exmormon

Currently a doc in residency/fellowship doing a bunch of moonlighting on the side. Hence the many hours.

[–] Yikes tithing is a lot. drneeley 3 points ago in exmormon

Yeah I've heard it all. I'm 31 and raised TBM, went on a mission, etc. Just venting here.

[–] Yikes tithing is a lot. drneeley 5 points ago in exmormon

Unfortunately she won't ever read anything I give her. She gets upset enough every time that I offer, that it's just not worth it.

[–] My DW Doesn’t Ask Anymore, But This Sums Up My Feelings About Going To Church. drneeley 3 points ago in exmormon

My wife was called as the primary chorister so I can help her out by holding the baby. Weird they call a chorister with pre-nursery age kids.

[–] My DW Doesn’t Ask Anymore, But This Sums Up My Feelings About Going To Church. drneeley 2 points ago in exmormon

Meh, I go to support the wife and the kids. It's only two hours now and I no longer feel guilty for spending most of it on my phone.

[–] We need to know. drneeley 1 points ago in exmormon

My TBM DW told me the other day that she would rather stay ignorant and happy than learn about real church history and possibly lose her testimony.

[–] BYU Breaks Shelves drneeley 3 points ago in exmormon

Well I studied molecular biology, so not a lot of church mixed in. Hated my required religion classes, despite even being TBM at the time. It was all just old men spouting their own twisted versions of the gospel.

[–] Ward Council Becoming Unbearable drneeley 7 points ago in exmormon

Is this my bro-in-law? I swear he says the same things to me about ward council.

[–] BYU Breaks Shelves drneeley 3 points ago in exmormon

My experience at BYU was that I was way too busy trying to get into med school, dating, and skiing/mountain biking to be bothered to seriously evaluate my faith.

BYU was a good time for me. Just a shame the faith that runs it is a fairy tale.

[–] Good ole Utah. drneeley 1 points ago in exmormon

Wait, isn't Cosmo the BYU mascot?

[–] I'm going through a pregnancy scare alone because my TBM parents would cut me off if they knew I'm sexually active drneeley 2 points ago in exmormon

Depending on where you live you can go get free better birth control (IUD, etc) without your parents consent.

Good luck with all this, sorry they won't let you live a normal young person life.
