[–] Merging Lanes and idiots eSorghum 0 points ago in fargo

Huge fan of zipper merging here. But not on interstate on-ramps. There, it is a right of way issue. Interstate on-ramp traffic always yields the right-of-way to traffic already on the roadway, per ND CC 39-10-22.1.

Entering freeways - Right of way. A vehicle entering a freeway, as defined in section 24-01-01.1, from an acceleration lane, ramp, or any other approach road shall yield the right of way to a vehicle on the main roadway entering the merging area at the same time, regardless of whether the approach road is to the left or the right of the main roadway, unless posted signs indicate otherwise.

In other words, interstate on-ramps are not a zipper-merging scenario. To do so actually creates a bigger hazard.

[–] What’s the dumbest thing you got in trouble for in school? eSorghum 1 points ago in AskReddit

Sitting on my foot. Teacher looked in my direction and said, "Sit down." Confused, I did nothing. Had my name written on the board with 2 checkmarks behind it before I realized she was talking to me and I was sitting on my foot. Had to stay after school for that one and missed the bus.

It would seem lots more indictments will follow, considering the ringleader was saying he did the same thing with hundreds of students. 760 in one year, according to the document.

[–] Anyone move from large city to Fargo? eSorghum 1 points ago in fargo

That's why it's my only complaint about not living there anymore. :)

[–] Anyone move from large city to Fargo? eSorghum 1 points ago in fargo

True, and there are other places that might have live music (Front Street, Dempsey's, Noks and Tailgators every now and then), but not every night and not always top level talent. Contrast with the greater Nashville area, and you pretty much can go anywhere that has room for a band and there is a ridiculously talented band (many are working on record deals there) playing any night of the week. At least that was my experience when I lived there 20 years ago.

Moved to Fargo from Nashville about 19 years ago. Winter can be harsh but the people are in general really great. Something I've never gotten over is the comparison of the music scenes in both places. In Fargo, you have to search out really good live music (it's here but harder to find, compared to Nashville). I moved downtown about 9 years ago and still feels like small town living.
