[–] This is how make sure the scrap yard can't use our crankshafts and try to re sell them. felandaniel 2 points ago in Justrolledintotheshop

This came out of a Fairbanks Morse OP two stroke engine. It has no heads and two crankshafts one upper and one lower. Definitely worth giving it a Google.

Fairbanks Morse OP! Two stroke engine with no heads and two crankshafts an upper and a lower definitely worth a Google when you get the chance.

I can tell you without a doubt this CS was in no running condition. That's awesome you have something like that in a museum. Where is the museum located?

This should be top comment. I'm still trying to understand why everyone in this sub is emotionally attached to inatamit object. It's just a CS being recycled that's it and now ppl have twisted it so far it's not worth explaining anymore.

Liability reasons. We'd hate to see this part being the reason for destroying a very expensive engine. It's not worth it in the lomg run.

There's no telling where it came from honestly. It's a fun engine to work on. Look at my previous post if you can. I have a video of it being flipped upside down!

I'm replying to the people in general who are curious about the design of the engine. At least give those ppl the information they want.

It probably was never considered for selling honestly. Especially since we have a few of the exact same CS ready for shipment when needed. It's not worth keeping or selling.

Liability. We don't want this to be the reason a engine has a failure from this part and destroying a million dollar engine. It's not worth it.

Liability. We don't want this to be the reason a company has a failure from this part and destroy a million dollar engine. So why chance it.

This is a very particular part. It can't be swapped into another engine line. This also insures us it doesn't get sold and be the reason why the engine had a failure which could be very costly. Like millions costly. It's not worth it.

It's from our Fairbanks Morse OP. It's used in all kinds kf applications from large generators to powering lake boats. It's pretty cool engine it had two CS and it's a two stroke design. Definitely worth a Google.

By insuring someone doesn't sell this and it being the reason why the company has a million dollar engine destroyed because of a failure from this particular part.

Say you bought the part and it's the reason why your million dollar engine now has a hole the size of a car in it? How would you feel about that? Better to be safe than sorry and just send it out for recycling.
