I’m 35 and worth $4 million dollars and no one would ever guess it. I don’t presume to know others finances either.

Thanks. And yes if they are trying to enrich themselves from the church they are doing a poor job of it. 80,000 or 120,000 is not a lot of money for the amount of work they are doing (if those numbers are even true). Most of the leaders made much more than that annually from their private salaries and investments. And yes 14 million is a lot but that’s only an estimate from one source that could or could not be reliable. And if it’s true, it was money made throughout a lifetime of work and investing, not much of it from the church.

That’s pennies compared to the amount of work he was doing as leader of the church. Also pennies compared to how much he made in the private sector. He was responsible with the money he made in his life and was able to grow it into a respectable amount to leave his family. I’ll be doing the same. Most members of The Church do. We are thrifty, work hard, pursue education, save and invest wisely.

So a church that allegedly takes in 7 billion a year in tithing and has an operating cost of 6 billion a year, (leaving one billion allegedly)donates over $40 million a year of the remaining and stick the rest in an account that grows for a rainy day fund. That’s how interest works. I call that good stewards of money! That’s the reason they’re able to donate 40 million a year unlike other churches. And anytime there’s a natural disaster you know they will be there like always. Yet all they get is criticism for it constantly. They are well organized and the members are happy to pay knowing their money is well managed.

Also the disgruntled ex member who is behind this is specifically looking for a reward from the IRS as per the Washington Post article.

And another fact that is left out is that not a single member of the leadership of the church receives financial gain or salary only a living allowance that is pennies compared to what most of them made in the private sector. Some of them in their 90s putting in long hours! So if they’re doing it for money they’re doing a bad job of enriching themselves!

You need to study history. There are dozens of examples of regular citizens defeating ‘trained policeman and armies.’ USA being one of them.
