[–] Poll: Kim Jong Un has higher approval among Republicans than Pelosi iamwhoiamamiwhoami 1 points ago in nottheonion

It's something we usually only see with sports teams. "Oh, my teams QB stabbed someone at a nightclub? That's okay, he's a great player and we need him." For whatever reason, though I personally think it's all the political entertainment that has sprouted up over the years, people now treat politics as if it were a sport.

Do you need to hear someone in NAMBLA tell you their opinion on why child rape should be normalized, or can you just dismiss them at face value?

Some opinions are just so bad that they don't deserve any consideration.

it's fucking frustrating to watch dipshit Americans attempt to discuss your country on Reddit

But you didn't say it's frustrating when Westerners discuss your country, you specified that it was "dipshit Americans". You were generalizing that all Americans are dipshits who want to tell you how your country is.

Because it's not actually free, you're stealing it. That's like asking, "Why should I pay for toilet paper when I can just go into a public restroom and unwind the entire ream into a sack and take it home?". Sure, you could nab that toilet paper, or even the paper towels and soap, which probably cost far more over the course of a year than that Netflix subscription, but why the hell would you do something so lowly if you aren't in a desperate situation?

Netflix has made movies and television so cheap that only those in the most dire of situations can't afford a subscription, so why be such a shitty person and steal it?

Netflix costs about $10 a month. That's a whopping $120 for an entire year. If you can't manage that, then you seem to have fucked up your life somehow or another, and should just avoid all media so you can better focus on buckling down and fixing your shit.

I find that hard to be true. Sites like you describe inevitably need to make money somehow, and that's usually through bullshit, invasive ads. Then there's the fact that the quality is usually garbage, and that the content is very limited.

If you want to PM me the address for such a site, I'd be happy to check it out and amend this comment if I'm wrong.

I'm sure it doesn't, but it's the image that resonates. It's like how tourism in Paris is down due to those terrorist attacks. Sure, the odds of you falling victim to some terrorist attack are incredibly remote, but good luck convincing that fact to someone who is considering travel to the area.

Similarly, all you see pouring out of America nowadays is stories of intollerance, hate, violence and vitriol. It tends to make people shy away from travel to such a place.

It's not just who the leadership is, it's how the entire environment has been poisoned with vitriol. Maybe the leadership is the cause, maybe it's just an affect, but when you've got mobs of loons marching through streets carrying tiki torches, nobody is going to want to pay you a visit.

[–] Just hit the 2 year mark in my recovery from anorexia iamwhoiamamiwhoami 1 points ago in pics

My oldest sister was anorexic during college. I remember she was coming home for the summer and my family warned me that she would look bad, and that I wasn't to comment on it. I thought I was prepared, but the second I saw her I just let out, "Uggh, what happened to you?" It was really terrifying. She looked like she was moments away from death, and if not for treatment she probably would have been.

That was over 20 years ago. She still struggles with her disorder to this day, but she's so much better now and we don't have to worry about her dying from her disorder anymore. Sadly, although she always wanted to have children of her own, anorexia stole that option from her.

The amusing part to me is that Trump supporters routinely claim that The Clinton Foundation is corrupt, and merely used to line the Clinton's pockets, despite the fact that it's financial records are transparent.

Next we'll find out that Trump's was running a child sex trafficking operation out of his mail order steak business, or that the infamous "pee tape" is really a child prostitution tape.

There's also paraphilia disorders, which is when the individual is more interested in the depravity of the act, rather than being attracted to the child. I believe that singer for Lost Prophets had a paraphilia disorder.

But if you were just shipping freight, then you could build the tunnels far more compact, and without certain things that are necessary for transporting people, so we don't know the true costs of such a project.

[–] Elon Musk’s Boring Co. Wins Chicago Airport High-Speed Train Bid iamwhoiamamiwhoami 10 points ago in Futurology

It's too true. They've got subway cars in NYC that are 50-years-old, whereas I can take a Maglev train to the airport in Shanghai.

[–] Elon Musk’s Boring Co. Wins Chicago Airport High-Speed Train Bid iamwhoiamamiwhoami 1 points ago in Futurology

The thing is, it's easy to gamble $1 worth of investment that may earn you something back, but it's not so easy when it's $1 billion.

[–] Elon Musk’s Boring Co. Wins Chicago Airport High-Speed Train Bid iamwhoiamamiwhoami 6 points ago in Futurology

Initially, Musk promised that by the end of 2017, Tesla would manufacture 5,000 Model 3s per week. Then he pushed that date to March 2018. Then to June. In the last three months, Tesla delivered just 1,550 Model 3s.

Why the hell should anyone believe him now?

When I was in college I'd workout at midnight and finish up with a run around 2am. I had been harassed by neighborhood dogs on three occasions, with one of the dogs biting me right on the ass. So, I started running with a large knife. Then one night it occurred to me that I was going to get shot and nobody would care because everyone would assume I did something bad or was going to.

[–] Iran tells North Korea Trump could cancel deal before getting home iamwhoiamamiwhoami 2 points ago in worldnews

It's almost like this NK/US deal was really China's deal to keep the US out of the region. Perhaps this is a case of China planning a checkmate far into the future of Trump's 4D chess match.

[–] In historic first, sitting US and North Korean leaders meet face-to-face iamwhoiamamiwhoami 1 points ago in worldnews

Over how? What is the plan here, destroy them financially? They have an unknown number of nuclear weapons. At best they could be backed into a position of selling them to interested parties. At worst they could decide to use them on virtually any country.

If you're stuck in a room with a guy holding a grenade that he's prepared to detonate, but you have a gun, what good is shooting him going to do?

[–] In historic first, sitting US and North Korean leaders meet face-to-face iamwhoiamamiwhoami 1 points ago in worldnews

Beyond the legitimacy, it's just pointless. NK has promised to end it's nuclear programs in some capacity or another over and over, again and again. Each time they just get what they're after and then turn around to demonstrate an even further advanced nuclear weapons program.

We know they have nuclear weapons now, but we don't even know how many. Even if they agree to discharge their nuclear weapons they could very well be hiding countless more elsewhere. It's all just an optics theater. It's great for Trump, because he can distract from the Mueller investigation and also point to something his administration has done in time for the midterms, but anyone who thinks this will lead to anything remotely positive is naive at best, and most likely delusional at worst.
