[–] Mueller’s Team Prepares Return To Old Jobs In Sign That Probe Really Is Ending jimmyq13 1 points ago in politics

Yep. Ford pardoned Nixon for all crimes he committed during and any that he hadn’t been charged with.

[–] Thanking God for something a human clearly did is a massive insult to that person. jimmyq13 3 points ago in atheism

If there’s no belief that a higher being will intervene on your behalf, then what are you praying for? Without a god to either predetermine the outcome or nudge it the way you want, isn’t it just luck? Imagine getting your friends together to hope you get lucky that little Johnny is in the right hospital and the right guy went to the right school and his coffee was just right and he’s feeling pretty on point about Johnny’s brain surgery. I mean, that’s what group prayer is in reality. It’s just done under the guise of praying to a supreme being. Remove that from the equation and you’re just hoping shit works out. And this gets me to my other point...how does really hoping shit works out actually change the outcome of anything?

Because you obviously aren’t a Christian scientist. If you were, you’d have just gone to gods house and let him fix you directly.

Unless I’m reading this wrong, what you say is silly. How can you say group prayer works, when by definition, it requires a higher being to pray to, and then follow it up with “the people prayed to the god, who answered their prayers, but they should get credit”? Is this some sort of Jesus-people doublespeak?

I’ve had ct release on both hands. It’s pretty much 100% curable. There’s a slim to none chance of recurrence.

The legality of NDA’s in the White House is being challenged, as they should be. His doc is bound by doctor/patient confidentiality.

[–] Trump Circulates Call for Mueller Russia Investigators to ‘Be in Jail’ jimmyq13 18 points ago in worldnews

Unfortunately, no. He isn’t subject to the UCMJ. Should be. There’s moral code built into it. I think the president should be held to the HIGHEST standard as he is the representative of all of us on the world stage. This one is making us all look like Cletus the slack-jawed yokel.

Let’s not discount the fact that these are Americans, and while we are divided right now, it ain’t to the point where they would forget who they are. Meaning that while they are the best trained and equipped military fighting force in the world, they’re also the smartest. I can’t see enough of the military siding with the treasonous side to be anything more than the beginning of an espionage and spy movie. Or the 3rd episode in an 8 part miniseries that chronicles the rise and fall of the trump empire.

Reminds me of the bit Robin Harris did about his son asking if his dick touched the water like his did. Funny shit. Too bad he passed. He was great.

Dude. This is one of THE best posts I have ever read, and I’ve been to the end of the internet twice. Have a marvelous Friday!!

[–] You want me to date you, so pay for all of our dates! jimmyq13 15 points ago in ChoosingBeggars

Yeah. The test. I was pretty bummed about it because we hit it off really well. But it’s all good now. I’m with a chick who thinks my farts smell like roses.

[–] You want me to date you, so pay for all of our dates! jimmyq13 492 points ago in ChoosingBeggars

I went on a date with a girl (I’m 40 something) that I met in an online dating app and it went well. I thought. We hit it off talking and getting to know each other. Time comes to pay the bill and she asks if I want to go dutch. I was a bit surprised because this is the first time a date has ever asked me to go dutch. I was like “I don’t mind paying, really” but she just went ahead and got hers. Next morning she hits me with “I can’t believe you didn’t pay...no more dates for you!” Seriously? WTF? Don’t offer if you’re gonna get pissed. Anyway, that’s my cool story, bro.

Also, thanks for your posts. I hadn’t ever really thought about the specific why’s of the system. They were informative.

Fair enough. I don’t proclaim to have all the answers. It’s just frustrating when you bust your ass for a living and people like them (pubs and dems) enrich themselves through their office, don’t listen to what constituents want, do what pleases them, then get to retire on my dime. I know they aren’t all guilty, but still. Something needs to change.

If you read my above reply, you’ll notice I didn’t say we need to scrap it. I said the systems broken. I may not have the solution, but what we have doesn’t work.

[–] Gazillionaire senators push to make it harder for non-rich people to serve in Congress jimmyq13 3 points ago in politics

I agree. Here’s my standard line: I don’t have all the solutions, probably even none of them. But there is a problem and it needs to be addressed.

They definitely should NOT get lifetime pensions or anything. I’ve been working at my current place of employment for almost 15 years. If I leave today, I get no pension. Why should they get a pension for working for 6 years or less? And why should I pay for that pension? There should be no monetary benefit from being an elected official other than a plain paycheck. People should get into politics because they want to change something or make things better. Not because they can rape and pillage during their tenure and get lifetime bennies because they got elected.
