[–] Birmingham homicides in danger of hitting 22 year high johnconnors88 3 points ago in Birmingham

Loss of life should not be trivialized in anyway. We have a serious problem in this city on how we resolve conflict. The loss of life shatters families and communities. Precious tax dollars, and community resources are being exhausted with this loss of life. We are all connected, no matter how far removed we think we are. We are our brothers keepers.

People who don't have pay tv credentials, lack of OTA reception, and want the convenience to stream CBS content from virtually anywhere, anytime. There isn't any reality in this world, only perception. People see value in different things. JC

Nobody wants to be poor in this country and yet some of the poor have found a way to game the system into a sustainable lifestyle. Less handouts and more handups!

[–] Mlb.tv sale johnconnors88 10 points ago * (lasted edited 6 months ago) in MLBStreams

I much as I want to agree with you...I can't. Here's why... Nothing is free in this world...not a god damn thing. Somebody ends up losing money. Sure the MLB owners and stars make a considerable amount of money than most Americans. But they write off their loses to our government in tax breaks. Less taxes, more money the government has to print and devalues everyone's buying power. I wish more people understood this. Sure our government wastes a ton of our money. It is our job to hold our politicians accountable. When everyone is out for themselves this is the result. I believe, if you find entertainment value in MLB, just pay what you can afford. Something please. End of rant.

They do pay for it's about $4.77/month! The OTA surcharge is itemized on their bill. It was put there in black and white mandated by the FCC. If they are niave enough to think it is included after all this transparency, not my problem. Here is a better question. What would people do if OTA channels where taken away from them? These are the most watched channels in any cable/Satellite package. Where would they get their live local news?

CBS made 6 BILLION last year in retransmission fees supplying local CBS channels to cable/satellite customers, whether they watched the channel or not. What's your point?

[–] What are some good US News sources available to cordcutters? johnconnors88 0 points ago * (lasted edited 2 years ago) in cordcutters

If you want news that doesn't insult your intelligence or NOT told through a filtered lense, stick with SKY News. US news is bias, and sometimes not vetted enough by having to be the first to report on a story. Even good news needs to push an agenda. We curse our cable companies for pushing channels on us nobody watches, and yet we clamber for cable or OTA news that report the same bias story for days and sometimes weeks on end. So sad. EDIT: I can think on my own, without having to be told on how to think about a particular news story. I am always skeptical about a news organization that has to tell me there is truth in their reporting. Your reporting should ring true to me without having to be told!

You parade that $35 DTVN price like it such a value, even with all its problems. When has a promo rate ever stayed at a promo rate. You know what is a great value, an investment in an OTA antenna, you know the way cordcutting used to be defined. Oh how far we have come, to tout a pay IPTV service as a great value, inspite of all its so called problems? Really?

[–] A great deal of time, money, and quality of relationships are being lost due to this technology. johnconnors88 0 points ago in Frugal

There was a time in our society when individual families set our own values. Cell phones and computers have taken the place of what used to be the traditional family. More kids ask Google before they ask their parents about a problem. We have human cock fighting with the UFC, we hear about murder, suicide from a very young age. We carry on our daily lives interrupting our face to face interactions with cell phone ignorance. People will get to work and turn around to get their cell, forget the commitment you made to your employer. Our driving skills are based on how well we can multitask. Our kids are missing out from nurturing interactions. This is what we call progress. Most of us live in a virtual reality. Put down the tech and let us live in the moment for it is all we have.

[–] As a Cord cutter, just trying to watch some Hulu, I F-ing hate San Diego johnconnors88 -1 points ago * (lasted edited 3 years ago) in cordcutters

Having a TiVo, Netflix, Project Free TV, and Kodi is my 100% commercial free solution. Hulu's commercial free subscription is NOT 100% ad free. A deal breaker for me.

We need to be putting people back to work in this country so they can afford their own broadband!
