[–] TIFU by accidentally flashing my new boss my penis. jortego128 3 points ago in tifu

No big deal-- I work in a carbon black manufacturing facility where at the end of every shift we shower military style in a big room with no stalls. Men and women have separate bathhouses to be sure, but I have literally seen 80% of the people who work in the entire plant naked and vice versa. My boss has carried conversation with me while I was butt naked many times lol.

Only unspoken rule is don't talk about someone's junk while showering, other than that we joke and bust each other's chops constantly in the nude. I guess you get used to it, your story seems quite tame from my perspective. 😋

[–] How is the $300-$400 navi supposed to stack against the RX 580? jortego128 3 points ago in Amd

This + it may enable RX 580/590 performance in a PCIe only powered low profile <75W card.

    [–] Qualcomm improved Kryo's clock from 2.1 (280Gold) to 2.84 (485Gold) by going from Samsung's 14nm LPP (Zen) to TSMC 7nm (Zen2) jortego128 2 points ago in Amd

Only thing is, why did Mark Papermaster go out of his way in a recent interview to downplay the frequency gains of 7nm and 7nm+ then? If they can reliably hit 5GHz thats a big frequency gain over 4.35, so why downplay it?

[–] Ryzen 2 - Too Good To Be True? (AdoredTV) jortego128 1 points ago in Amd

Not too bad at all man. If they can deliver a kick ass product, I have no qualms paying a fair price for it. Prices posted earlier were better than fair, to be honest. They have to make a return on all their R&D.

[–] Ryzen 2 - Too Good To Be True? (AdoredTV) jortego128 6 points ago in Amd

Im obviously stupid and lacking analytical logic....

[–] PSA: Guys, chill down for your expectations on Ryzen and Navi... jortego128 1 points ago in Amd

Me too-- I have a hard time believing their process was ever going to be better than TSMC's...

[–] South Korean Ryzen 3600X and 3700X contest is pulled after AMD is notified of its existence jortego128 26 points ago in Amd

Wonder if "we are going to be disappointed" by # cores or clockspeed? Maybe both?? Prices are also insane IMO. Either way it will suck. Back to 3.8/4.65 reality I guess...

If so, bravo to Intel or whoever perpetrated the ADTV leaks, they will have successfully thrown a bit of cold water onto the launch.

[–] The Excel Spreadsheet "Ryzen Leak" was me. It is not a "leak"... it's a nerd who meant to only troll one friend. [I too can take a photo of a screen with an email]. jortego128 15 points ago * (lasted edited 7 days ago) in Amd

lol I agree- how much of a coincidence could that possibly be, its almost impossible! He nailed the X600s are now 8 cores vs 6 and so on, it would be uncanny. That said, if the specs were from an old sheet and his job IS in danger because of it, WTF would he have outed himself for the world to see right here? That makes no sense unless he is a complete idiot!

[–] AMD-hired Agency in South Korea Teases AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, Ryzen 5 3600X jortego128 2 points ago in Amd

No, it was just a general example for comparison. I do think the majority of the cost of the card is the die though, but it might only cost AMD $30 or $40 at this point.

[–] AMD-hired Agency in South Korea Teases AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, Ryzen 5 3600X jortego128 3 points ago in Amd

Possibly, although I'd say the cost of the die is in the area of silicon and not the transistor density. If they can use 1/2 or 1/4 of the die for Ryzen then yes, I suppose that would be OK.

Only problem with that chiplet statement is the 14nm I/O die alone is roughly the size of an RX 580 GPU. Thats ~$200 of silicon alone just right there!

If AMD are already holding contests to guess cinebench scores, logic dictates they will be revealing those scores soon (CES soon). And if they are going to be releasing those scores that soon you can bank that they will be launching sooner rather than later. We'll see.

Looks like they might be releasing cinebench scores at CES! If they do that then these babies may be coming sooner than a lot of us thought!

[–] News Corner | Our Thoughts on AMD 7nm Zen 2, Navi Rumors and Nvidia Titan RTX | Hardware Unboxed jortego128 5 points ago in Amd

Yes, the pricing is the most difficult thing to swallow out of everything in the leak. Right off the bat, it would cannibalize, and badly, every Threadripper up to and including the 2970WX. This is why I dont believe it.

[–] @Zen 2, We should temper expectations a bit, lest we get bamboozled "Poor Volta" style again... jortego128 2 points ago in Amd

Right, and a 16 core 5.1 GHz chip would instantly cannibalize all TRs currently available up to the 2970WX and probably it too, because the 3850X is supposedly only $500.

If true it would be one of the most aggressive marketshare grabbing moves in the history of computing, just savage.

[–] The Latest Rumors About AMD’s Ryzen 3000 Series Are Too Good to Be True jortego128 1 points ago in Amd

Yeah its like what the biggest AMD fanboy would WISH the Zen 2 lineup could be. Its insane....but if it happens by chance to be legit...it'll be even more insane.....
