[–] 16 states sue President Trump over border wall ks501 1 points ago in politics

All the talk around MA has been along the lines of "Good, we're going to get our climate change emergency in 2020, and probably more than that."

[–] End zone view of Gilly’s INT ks501 7 points ago in Patriots

I wasn't sure which pick you were referring to tbh, and [email protected] fans. They have to find nicknames for regular season games against the Pats. Beating them en route to the Superbowl is basically a New England rite of passage at this point.

[–] End zone view of Gilly’s INT ks501 4 points ago in Patriots

Totally. I went running around my house.

    Cough Butler Cough

[–] Sox and Yankees will both wear home jerseys for London series ks501 1 points ago in redsox

Wow. This whole thread is salty about this. Imagine thinking homefield in baseball matters and worrying about what a bunch of dudes are wearing.

[–] End zone view of Gilly’s INT ks501 18 points ago in Patriots

Yeah, that's nuts. Also nuts: he turned in the air and let himself fall on his side. If I fell from that high, I'd be a huge baby about it.

[–] End zone view of Gilly’s INT ks501 139 points ago in Patriots

That interception probably gave me the biggest rush as a Patriots fan since Edelman's miracle catch in 51. What a moment.

[–] Wright to be full-time reliever for Red Sox in '19 ks501 1 points ago in redsox

Wright + Feltman + Barnes could be the beginning of a solid set up crew. If someone else gets hot or improves in a real way the bullpen won't be a concern.

[–] Red Sox closer battle: Heath Hembree aiming for a late-inning role ks501 2 points ago in redsox

Ah, youre one of the ones who only watches when they make the playoffs. Cool.

[–] [Bradford] Tom Werner says on @MutCallahan Red Sox have had contract extension conversations with Chris Sale ks501 0 points ago in redsox

Hot take: if he had been willing to trade Will Middlebrooks, Henry Owens, and/or Swihart they wouldn't have finished bottom of the division en route to building a better roster. I follow the minor leagues extremely closely, maybe moreso than MLB. Xander was the best prospect in baseball, hard to trade that away in general but it does happen. I'm not about to give Cherington credit for not trading the best prospect in the game and Mookie Betts came out of absolutely no where. By the time he had trade value, he also had a use on the major league roster. But, if you wanna give him credit for that, fine. I think identifying top tier prospects and hanging on to them is a great skill for a GM, so go for it. My problem with Cherington is that he had a declining MLB roster with a lot of guys hitting FA. It is possible to distinguish between promising and less promising prospects despite this sub usually suggesting it's magic meant for only genius wizards or something. WMB, Swihart, and Henry Owens all had value - not Xander Bogaerts value - but at one point in their development all of those guys looked like less than what our needs required but more than enough to be traded for much needed defense/depth. Cherington always projected his prospects to become major leaguers. Dombrowski has a more reasonable approach and I'm not worried about losing guys to free agency and having nothing left. They can at least afford Mookie and Sale and I'm confident we'll always be able to build around that. Doesn't seem realistic right now to panic about contracts right now.

TLDR - I still think the panic about all the contracts is silly.

You didn't give me anything to argue, you were kind of talking to yourself and telling yourself I'm some entitled fan who doesn't understand things. Have a nice day.

[–] What's with the hate on Pedroia? ks501 1 points ago in redsox

Yeah, that's not going to happen.

[–] What's with the hate on Pedroia? ks501 1 points ago in redsox

What I'm tired of is people smashing Pedroia like he sucks. The people who say Pedroia has a chance generally back up their argument with numbers. The people who get upset about that usually call people pink hats and use Felger and Mazz narratives to discredit numbers. People on these boards should have to show their work more than they do. Some of these fans don't deserve these championships. Pedroia is an MVP with two rings and a handful of GG's. If you told me a 2B like that would be on the Red Sox back when I was a kid in 2000, I wouldn't have believed you. If you told me Boston fans would eventually hate that player and want to dump him, I would have been sure you were not a real clairvoyant at that point. Boston is weird.

I thought you meant 5 million a year. I was like "Wow, you think Kimbrel loves Boston"

[email protected] who get their info from felger and mazz

[–] What's with the hate on Pedroia? ks501 2 points ago in redsox

I highly doubt we use Nunez at 2B again. That didn't go well.

[–] What's with the hate on Pedroia? ks501 1 points ago in redsox

Don't cave to people who have no idea what they're talking about. Pedroia is a career .300 hitter with a handful of GG's and AS appearances and an MVP. Pedroia's 7 year WAR peak was 42.7 and the average second baseman in the HOF has a 7 year peak of 44.1. Also, Pedroia's HOF Monitor is at 94. 100 is a likely HOFer. Referring to Pedroia as a borderline HOFer is just accurate.

If being able to understand baseball statistics and place them in context with other HOFers at Pedroia's position makes me a pink hat, then so be it.

You sound like one of those dudes who can't accept other peoples opinions and gets all his info from Mike Felger.

[–] What's with the hate on Pedroia? ks501 1 points ago in redsox

Yup. Borderline HOFer, probably the best defensive 2B over the last 10 years. They need infield defense, they need Pedroia.

[–] What's with the hate on Pedroia? ks501 3 points ago in redsox

The contract was signed a while ago, they can't just void it. And if you think Kimbrel is signing for 3/15 you are on some serious drugs.
