[–] How to make your kid commit suicide 101 leafmuncher2 1 points ago in iamatotalpieceofshit

Quora is starting to become the new Yahoo Answers lately. It's generally well moderated but there's not much they can do about troll posts that just might be real.

And the angry responses just increase their traffic so I guess there's not that much incentive.

This will probably get lost in the flood but:

Make a list of things you think will be important for when you one day do move out. This can be anything from a car to furniture to TV/PC to refrigerator and cooking utensils. Make a savings account dedicated to this list and tick them off as you can reasonably afford them. Make another savings account for emergencies and if you don't have medical or dental cover now is a good time to start (you'll be surprised how many problems can pop up in your mid 20's).

Lastly build up your credit record. Get a credit card and use it for all day-to-day purchases and top it up religiously so you're never in debt but have a record as a good payer. This will save you a lot later in life when you need a loan for a home or car, making the application process smoother and getting you a better interest rate, or if you need to sign a lease you have a good rating when they credit check you.

Even buying a pair of socks on store credit and paying them off over 2 months will give you an existing credit rating.

Some factors to consider: Half the world are below average intelligence. Some are just plain stupid. Half the time it's impossible to tell whether someone is being obtuse or sarcastic, or whether they're actually that stupid. Half the people reading will assume you are in fact as stupid as you pretend to be.

Dancing duo occultist CI or low-life. Cheap to get high into red maps, great for delving 600+

Arakaali necromancer, a bit more expensive to get started (needs dagger) but cheaper to do endgame.

Both can be started with zombies/vaal skeletons for cheap league starter that hits red maps with minimal cost

[–] Just Learnt Long Division! leafmuncher2 2 points ago in CongratsLikeImFive

Well done! I'm a maths tutor/teacher and didn't learn proper long division until university where you have to do it with bigger equations. I always estimated the answer then adjusted it until I got the right numbers. Otherwise I'd multiply the denominator by something easy and see how close I get to the original number.

    E.g. for 684/36 I would go 36*20 is 720, so minus 36 and I get 684, answer is 19.

It's more effort for decimals and won't help you when algebraic expressions get thrown into the mix. I felt stupid having to go back to elementary school videos to learn it properly

The herald secondary effects don't count as spell or attack damage so no, but they do benefit from increases to ele damage, flat damage supports like added cold/lightning/chaos ("to supported skills" not spell specific), and generic damage on the tree (this includes increased minion damage if you have the node on the far left)

    [–] Questions Thread - February 12, 2019 leafmuncher2 3 points ago in pathofexile

(Total increased damage) x (each more multiplier) x (100-resistance) x (total increased damage taken)

There's also other reductions involved but the above is good for raw damage. So if enemies have 10% increased damage taken when x and 20% increased damage taken from y, this adds up to 30% more, not 10% more then 20% more

    [–] Questions Thread - February 12, 2019 leafmuncher2 2 points ago in pathofexile

Under the config tab there are a bunch of options including whether you use power/frenzy charges, what buffs are active and on the right are enemy stats and buffs like increased res etc, one box being whether it's a boss and what type of boss (they have their own reductions to damage, ailments and curse effectiveness). So there's a big difference between your dps vs a white mob and vs shaper or elder

No stress, the best guides have a ton of info to get through and sometimes it's not obvious where some important stuff is hiding. I remember leveling a build only to realise it was nerfed beyond usefulness and missed that disclaimer

    [–] Questions Thread - February 12, 2019 leafmuncher2 1 points ago in pathofexile

Shock is actually one of the biggest reasons you might die at high levels, which is why anyone pushing for lvl 100 and most HC builds have shock removal somewhere

[–] As most of us Love GGG nobody is perfect, what is one thing you dislike about POE or GGG in general? leafmuncher2 2 points ago in pathofexile

Win7, i5 2500k, gtx 960, 8gb ddr3 (had 16gb but other stick died a few months back). Done every possible ssd/memory/cpu test you can imagine and no issues in other demanding games/apps (even ff15 maxing out my ram lags a bit but doesn't crash). Gforce experience screwed up my ingame settings just before betrayal but I fixed it and only had a few crashes before the 3rd betrayal patch (guaranterd lab crashes amiright?) But since then it's been unbearable. Walk 2 steps in a map? Crash. Speak to syndicate? Crash. Izaro looks at me? Crash. Could be 5 minutes or 30 minutes but an hour session is a pipe dream

[–] As most of us Love GGG nobody is perfect, what is one thing you dislike about POE or GGG in general? leafmuncher2 2 points ago in pathofexile

Changed channel count to low, turned reverb off, started a new character and crashed before getting to tidal island...
Turned off engine multi-threading and switched to DX9 (tried these without the sound options before) and got to act 2 without crashing so maybe it's the combination of everything. Will see if I'm crash free by end of act 3 then it's most likely fixed. Thanks for taking the time!

I've been getting a ridiculous number of crashes this league and I'm pretty sure it's sound related but can't find anything from searches. If you can remember which setting it was or know where to find it please help T_T

    [–] Questions Thread - February 11, 2019 leafmuncher2 1 points ago in pathofexile

If you're under 6k life with low phys mitigation and cold res then it's a gear/tree/build check. Otherwise it's knowing the fight and how to avoid all the big hits. More damage means shorter fight means less chances at dying.

For money making syndicate is the easiest to get rolling but also the most boring to repeat IMO. Delve farming at low level is consistent cash but not many big ticket rewards. Deeper level gives more chance of spawning bosses and rare fossil nodes so it's worth getting past 600 for sure.

You don't need to remove vaal temple from atlas, it never drops anyway. You only get it from vaaling t15.

If you can handle T16 syndicate and throw in some increased quant gear then chain farming is probably your best bet, but bear in mind it's more investment rolling maps, sextants, scarabs, etc. Make sure you get to Delve 270+ so you can drop T16 maps to help sustain

    [–] Questions Thread - February 11, 2019 leafmuncher2 2 points ago in pathofexile

The shards should stack into a single breach stone, which you then just put into map device. As for difficulty, the mobs will be easier than red maps, but you might have trouble on the bosses.

If you're in a trade league you can make a lot of currency if you get It That Fled into t3 Research to upgrade the stone then sell it (if you make her the leader with t3 you can buy a spare breach stone and upgrade both then sell for a decent profit)
