[–] Kaplan: Rialto balance stats for the past month: 49.35% Attackers, 50.65% Defenders. litsax 1 points ago in Overwatch

I don't think there have been enough Rialto matches in OWL over the past month for the numbers to work out both that close to 50 and with 2 decimal places of precision.

[–] Kaplan: Rialto balance stats for the past month: 49.35% Attackers, 50.65% Defenders. litsax 4 points ago in Overwatch

Traditionally, this statistic has come out of qp and addresses if it's balanced for the attacking or defending team. "Attacking" team doesn't make sense in competitive as both teams do both phases. As far as I'm aware, there's no attacking or defending team in competitive, so it makes sense that these stats would be from quickplay. Hard to say for sure, though, without confirmation from blizzard/kaplan himself.

What if you do crazy stuff to force new metas? What happens if you ban rein and Winston, for example?

[–] Incarcerated Immigrants Are Being Tortured — Hunger strikers in a Texas immigration jail are risking their lives to draw attention to the conditions. litsax 2 points ago in politics

Having such a hardline stance makes no sense though. If their only crime is existing here, do they really deserve incarceration? The punishment does not fit the crime. How would you feel about jail time for speeding tickets? That's arguably worse than living here illegally as unsafe driving actually endangers those around you. A little empathy and rational though go a long way.

I read the article but don't really follow... is part of the evidence that this guy watched this porn and that the circumstances of the crimes are similar to what's depicted in it?

[–] Plat Main Tank struggling with Reaper post buff litsax 1 points ago in OverwatchUniversity

The easiest thing to do is to have one of your teammates help deal with him. Either run someone like a McCree to CC and delete reaper (requires McCree to position near you for stun) or an Ana. Ana is highly effective because of her sleep and especially anti nade. Also sombra works amazingly well because reaper is a free hack if he's engaged on the main tank. If you're getting bullied and your team won't help, swap to a character with range and CC to deal with him yourself. You aren't doing anything for your team by staying rein and dying every fight guaranteed because your team won't back you up. If your team complains, tell one of them to either deal with the reaper themselves or for them to swap to rein.

[–] What childhood injustice still bothers you to this day? litsax 1 points ago in AskReddit

When writing a publication, things basic enough are assumed understood by the reader so valuable characters are spent on the nitty gritty new stuff rather than background fluff. Yes it's about explaining things, but it's about doing so in a concise yet complete manner. E.g. If I'm writing a study on magnetic field behavior in interesting regions of the earth where the field varies a lot or doesn't line up well with our expectations, I'm probably not gonna go into how convection currents in earths outer core cause the field in the first place or how the field tends to be highly variable and only idealized to a dipole at larger scales. That background is assumed to be known by anyone who would be reading the paper so that I can focus more on my stuff.

But where else would it possibly pump blood around? Some things are obvious enough to be understood, even on a test. Taking off points for semantics when a student clearly knows the information is a bit dumb.

[–] This was in Competitive... and we had a leaver litsax 18 points ago in Overwatch

What's even the point of bronze smurfs? Like at least smurfing in higher elos, it can be fun to dick around on a DPS pick you're not comfortable on while still maintaining a challenge because the enemies have at least a basic understating of the game... At this point, you might as well play QP

[–] 4 way low pull litsax 1 points ago in AdrenalinePorn

I mean fair point. Easier said then done, though, cause by now that's just how I think. Good to keep in mind in general because communication fails if your audience isn't getting what you're putting out there.

I figured the negative acceleration would be obvious in context

[–] Good psychologists in the area? litsax 3 points ago in aggies

Go to the mental health services on campus. They can print out a list of all local psychologists and psychiatrists that take your insurance, and also have some knowledge of who is good at what.

[–] 4 way low pull litsax 1 points ago in AdrenalinePorn

Ahhh ok that makes sense. That jolt would probably mess you up pretty good without the delayed acceleration.

[–] 4 way low pull litsax 1 points ago in AdrenalinePorn

Acceleration as in slowing down lol. All I'm saying is that it's good for the dudes survivability chances that a parachute slows you down faster the faster you are falling, so even though he hits the water harder than his friends, he has a fighting chance because a lot of the acceleration is done immediately after the time of deployment. This isn't intuitive unless you realize Fdrag is proportional to velocity squared.

[–] 4 way low pull litsax 1 points ago in AdrenalinePorn

I'm just saying that a couple seconds right at deployment slows you down more than you'd might think without understanding how drag force works. I really wouldn't think this to be a controversial idea lol.

[–] Those who have taken LSD, what can you share with people who have never done it? litsax 3 points ago in AskReddit

Have had bad trips. Just consider them learning experiences honestly. They're not horrible and can teach you a lot in the right circumstances. I don't do it super often, and also use it as a part drug at raves. Not ruined by any stretch yet lol.

[–] 4 way low pull litsax 1 points ago in AdrenalinePorn

Well yes of course you slow down more with more time. I never contended otherwise, just that Amax is at T0 where T0 is when the chute deploys.

[–] Those who have taken LSD, what can you share with people who have never done it? litsax 6 points ago in AskReddit

Different opinion: I deal with depression and find LSD helpful. It brings things to the forefront of my mind that I subconsciously suppress and stress about that I wouldn't be able to confront otherwise. Yes the trip isn't always pleasant, but I always come out of it having gained insight into why I'm feeling the way that I am and an understanding about how to resolve those feelings. Just depends on if you're the right kind of person to handle the way it makes you feel.

A fairly good way to test if you have fake stuff is to eat it. If it tastes metallic or chemically, swallow the tab. Real L should be pretty tasteless and will absorb through your digestive system, while most research chemicals will not.

[–] University of Nebraska Football Player Maurice Washington Faces ‘Revenge Porn,' Child Porn Charges Over Video of Bay Area Teen litsax 0 points ago in CFB

I don't want to ruin the dudes life over a heartless decision he made at 18, but he needs to face some real consequences. Hard to say what's really appropriate but first and foremost I hope it works out for the victim. Having her face plastered everywhere with this story can't be doing her much good when she likely just wants to forget about the whole incident. Hope he doesn't get special treatment here.

[–] University of Nebraska Football Player Maurice Washington Faces ‘Revenge Porn,' Child Porn Charges Over Video of Bay Area Teen litsax 11 points ago in CFB

I thought revenge porn is where you posted it online to shame someone who sent it to you confidentially. I don't really see how sending her own video to her is damaging in the same way. Was this a video of assault? Cause that is fucked up and totally changes my mind. If it's a video that got made of her cheating or something, I can see why he'd send it back to her when she offered seemingly empty platitudes.

Edit: just read the article. Fuck this guy. Who the fuck thinks sending someone a video of their own gang rape is an appropriate response to something. I understand high strung emotional situations, but this is not one of them. What a scumbag.
