[–] Little Ben Shapiro finally found a place where he truly "fits in," Le Epic style lll_lll_lll 2 points ago in The_Donald

The joke is that the president is so stupid that he thinks the fire took place in the school in Indiana named notre dame (with a famous football team) rather than notre dame the cathedral in Paris.

This is not true. Authoritarian socialism is a thing. It is still far left if it is revolutionary in nature and seeks to disrupt the status quo to elevate the position of the marginalized within society.

Right, they are too dumb to know sex makes babies. Is that what you’re saying?

I am arguing that they are smart and capable enough to know that sex makes babies and to take responsibility for that.

Not really fair to call khomemi hard right wing. Could just as easily call him hard left wing. There were a lot of socialist sympathizers who had hopes for his rule in the early days to help the working class and tear down the aristocracy.

Really he cared nothing for economics, but only for Islam and sharia. He said economics was “for donkeys.”

Oh cool, we’re just making up statistics now.

Can’t find any confirmation on that from googling, looks like most of it was a laugh track. Any source on the re enacting scenes on set?

Having unprotected sex makes babies. Which is harder? Abstaining or having a child you can’t afford? I hate these sorts of arguments that basically imply poor people are too stupid or weak to make decisions, just victims of fate and their uncontrollable impulses.

I think it’s a sort of chicken/egg situation. Is instability in Afghanistan due to the Taliban or due to the US response to the Taliban? Considering the Taliban was originally formed when US provided defensive aid to mujahideen agains Soviet Union, is US responsible for creating them? Or is the USSR? Should we not provide defensive aid to oppressed peoples because our aid might enable militant groups to gain power? It is really too complex to prove in a simple manner, it just comes down to what you choose to believe.

As for economic migrants, there is no way to really prove that either since people show up without papers and claim to be refugees. We cannot really prove if they are or not. But apparently 54% of asylum requests get rejecting implying that more than half are turned away for not meeting the requirements.

Pointing out that the Middle East has never been peaceful = “white man’s burden” argument. Got it.

If only you were there to tell the Syrians their true motivation for rebelling against Assad. They probably thought it was to break free from their authoritarian ba’athist rulers. But it turns out it was something about western nations and oil!

I hope you are joking with your oversimplifications. If you think the Middle East would be holding hands in brotherly love right now if only evil westerners didn’t intervene then you probably haven’t read much about the region.

Also, the majority of the refugees are economic migrants who were not actually displaced by war.

Open primaries will just mean that the opposition gets to have a say in the candidate your party chooses. If every republican wants to vote for the least electable democratic candidate in an open primary, there would be nothing stopping them (and vice versa).

So much of this is well thought out, but the part about wealth redistribution is not. You cannot effectively redistribute wealth, because the wealth will just go someplace else. The wealth is not a given, it is something that is coaxed out by business friendly policies and incentives. Trying to grab hold of it just makes it evaporate.

[–] What is the dumbest post you’ve see hit the front page? lll_lll_lll -1 points ago in AskReddit

A huge amount of the popular posts are about shared finances for stay at home moms for some reason.

“AITA for expecting my husband to split the chores in half even though he earns all the money?”

The answer is always that raising children is the hardest job in the world and the husband should do everything without complaint.

[–] Death row inmates not guaranteed a 'painless death,' Supreme Court rules | Reuters lll_lll_lll 1 points ago in news

So you are ok with innocent people sitting in a jail cell for 10 years of their life? Interesting.

[–] Death row inmates not guaranteed a 'painless death,' Supreme Court rules | Reuters lll_lll_lll -1 points ago in news

You cannot turn back time actually. I would love to know how! After someone has spent their life in jail and died of natural causes how do you undo that when future evidence exonerates him?

They can just put a bag over the head so you don’t see. If you are killing the guy anyway then it’s a mercy to make sure it is instant.

[–] Death row inmates not guaranteed a 'painless death,' Supreme Court rules | Reuters lll_lll_lll -1 points ago in news

Innocent people can also be jailed for life... So should we stop jailing people for like to prevent this? Actually, we should stop all criminal penalties since innocent people can and do get caught up in them.

I feel like this number must be inflated by suicide attempts from people who have no experience and have done no research.

There are also a lot of psychopaths out there. Some people would probably love the chance to do it.

[–] This makes no fucking sense but grr gun control bad!!!! lll_lll_lll 1 points ago in forwardsfromgrandma

I am arguing that it might have gone differently if Germany had a gun culture similar to America in the first place.

I am not arguing that if you shoved a bunch of AKs into the hands of confused German Jews the day before kristallnacht they would have all transformed into Rambo.

You are the one trying to force that straw man.

[–] This makes no fucking sense but grr gun control bad!!!! lll_lll_lll 1 points ago in forwardsfromgrandma

    ...much more vast and complex...

we are talking about the short term.

If you think the economic, political, and cultural forces that led up to the rise of the nazi party aren’t complex then I don’t know what to tell you.

If you think mixing in millions of guns and a completely different cultural attitude towards guns and defense againt government tyranny would have played out in some totally predictable and inevitable way then you are delusional.

...scenario would civilians beat a military that has them out numbered out trained, out supplied, out gunned,

The French Resistance, Al Qaeda, ISIS, taliban, American Colonists, Viet Cong, to name a few. Why do you think the Iraq war took 8 years and cost $1 trillion? Asymmetrical warfare is a thing, learn about it.
