On any given night. Over a year 2.5 million will experience at least one night of homelessness, that's about 0.8% of the population. Then we also have 1% incarcerated, many of whom would otherwise be homeless. 1.8% of 330 million people don't have a home or are locked in a concrete box.

Someone will always have it worse. That doesn't mean people aren't suffering.

Well it does say that 2.5 million experience homelessness at least one night in a given year, that's pretty bad. Then on top of it many people who would be homeless are in prison, and we have about 3 million people incarcerated in the US. So combined that's like 2% of the US population, which is pretty screwed up

Sure, no problem. It's definitely legal. If you look at our terms and services contract here: https://saidit.net/s/SaidIt/comments/j1/the_saiditnet_terms_and_content_policy/

You can see we show proper attribution to the 2015 reddit open source code the site is based off of. Our site is a derivative work of this open source code, and therefore we're protected.

Furthermore our own source code is also open and available at that same link location.

Let me know if you have any additional questions and I'd be happy to help!

Yes, they are insightful and funny votes.

Removing downvotes gets rid of the ability of troll brigades to censor people by mass downvoting them, which is a huge problem on reddit. If there is a post or comment that breaks the terms of service, then it can still be reported to the mods with the 'report' button.

    Shouldn't that be called a "don't-bump race"?

People dragging discussion down the pyramid of debate will be banned. Also the admins aren't paid off to look the other way like they are on reddit. Those are our two primary protections.

Yeah someday we plan to make a web-wrapper app, but it will honestly be just the same as going there in your mobile web browser. Luckily we have an easy URL to remember

Because the RES plugin took literally 1 day, and porting the features will take weeks. We do plan to port the features eventually, especially image/video expando. Our to-do list has about 20 things on it, and that's about #5. It'll be done soon :)

I'm posting this because /u/martini-meow asked me to in this comment.

We've seen the growing decay and censorship on reddit as it has developed over the recent years, and instead of just sitting around feeling bad about it, we (/u/d3rr and I) have worked for 7 months to create an alternative and it has now grown to beyond 1400 users. And we would like to welcome this community to this quickly-growing website. I think you all will fit in wonderfully. We're building a community for thought-provoking ideas and discussions that aren't being had by the mainstream media, and that is exactly what I see on this sub.

If you'd like to read more about our values and rules, check out this link. Respectful exchange of ideas is our key priority, as governed by the Pyramid of Debate. https://saidit.net/s/SaidIt/comments/j1/the_saiditnet_terms_and_content_policy/

Some important differences are that instead of up and down votes, you can vote something insightful and/or funny. There is a live IRC chat channel built in to every sub's page. Nothing is hosted on Amazon servers, but rather a medium-size local business. And most importantly, the admins are not kowtowing to big money because the site is driven by user donations, and is cost-streamlined to run for years and years.

Give saidit a try and keep it in mind as things get worse here on reddit. Welcome to the site!

Yeah so let's ignore these legitimate concerns because you're good at hyperbole. Great call.

The NSA invented the SHA-256 algorithm that bitcoin mining solves for. Just saying.
