[–] Poll: What political position were you before Coronavirus? mitchdwx 18 points ago in LockdownSkepticism

Yeah, Trump is flubbing his response big time, but a lot of the Democratic party is acting like none of this would have ever happened under Hillary. The virus was already widespread before anyone even knew it was a big deal.

[–] Can someone explain how this is spreading so rapidly? mitchdwx 19 points ago in LockdownSkepticism

I frequently go to a convenience store near work for a snack after work. The same employee has been there through all this, wearing her mask wrong and all. You would have thought she'd catch the virus by now. But nope.

20 new cases per day isn’t a problem if it stays around that number. But if it keeps growing then that would be concerning.

There’s a decent chance fans won’t be allowed at games for the rest of the year, so you might not have to do it.

[–] Looks like we’re in for a very quiet week or two... mitchdwx 3 points ago * (lasted edited 2 days ago) in stormchasing

I was supposed to go on my yearly chasing vacation in the first week of June but I had to push it back. I'm glad the pattern looks like it'll suck during the week I won't be on the plains!

[–] I actually love America - Just don't love Trump mitchdwx 0 points ago in hingeapp

Supporting Trump has more to it than just politics. Donald Trump is an immoral, hypocritical, narcissistic scumbag. His political views have nothing to do with that fact. I don't care if someone is a conservative, but if they support Donald Trump, then I question their morals and values. And their intelligence.

[–] Anyone else notice that "lockdown skepticism" is becoming a pleasantly bi-partisan thing? mitchdwx 63 points ago in LockdownSkepticism

PA resident here, my parents and I are all registered dems. We all agree that Wolf is moving way too slow with reopening.

[–] GA Sees Lowest Coronavirus Hospitalizations Since April mitchdwx 19 points ago in LockdownSkepticism

I showed this to a pro-lockdown guy on Facebook. He refused to believe the numbers because 1. Georgia wasn't counting daily hospitalizations until May 2nd (as if that matters at all) and 2. there is a lag in the data (shouldn't a month be enough time?). He also claimed Georgia is trying to make the numbers look better while providing no evidence for that statement.

I’ve asked him that in the past, he just said “when the medical experts say we’re ready.”

[–] Megathread: COVID-19 Opinions, Vents and Rants(May 7th, 2020) mitchdwx 17 points ago in LockdownSkepticism

My latest debate with a pro-lockdowner, summarized:

Them: but if we reopen, cases will spike

Me: cases are steady in reopened states

    Them: but what about Texas

Me: they’re testing pretty much everyone in some parts

Them: but new cases are still going up!

Me: hospitalizations are steady or declining though

Them: that doesn’t matter, the mild cases can infect someone who’s likely to be hospitalized from it (???) also the states might have inaccurate or incomplete data

Seriously, what the hell! How do I get through to these people?

[–] Some Philly-area Democrats are starting to lose patience with Pa. Gov. Tom Wolf on coronavirus restrictions mitchdwx 5 points ago in Pennsylvania

I’m so tired of seeing people report this misleading data. The number of confirmed cases jumped because they’re testing virtually everybody in one of the hotspots in the panhandle. And most of them aren’t being hospitalized.

[–] Support slips for stay-at-home restrictions in new poll mitchdwx 12 points ago in LockdownSkepticism

Hell, I’m still working full-time and making additional hazard pay, and I think it’s time to end the lockdowns.

[–] Some Philly-area Democrats are starting to lose patience with Pa. Gov. Tom Wolf on coronavirus restrictions mitchdwx 21 points ago in Pennsylvania

Look at...choose a red state. They reopened and their cases are spiking.

The only ones where the cases are seemingly spiking are the ones where they’re testing a lot more people. Look at the hospitalization numbers - they’re either remaining steady or decreasing. That’s the statistic we need to keep an eye on the most.

[–] Support slips for stay-at-home restrictions in new poll mitchdwx 31 points ago in LockdownSkepticism

Get ready for the number to fall even further in the next month or two. Even the doomiest of the doomers will want to go outside and enjoy the nice summer weather.

[–] Megathread: COVID-19 Opinions, Vents and Rants(May 7th, 2020) mitchdwx 25 points ago in LockdownSkepticism

People are so misinformed about this it's crazy. Someone tried to tell me this was a deadly, dangerous virus, and when I debunked her claim, she tried to tell me "but once you recover you suffer permanent lung damage!" Sigh. Some people will just believe the doomer narrative no matter what.
