[–] “Cause I ain’t got a pencil” written by a student of Baltimore City Public Schools neosimmel 3 points ago in BlackPeopleTwitter

    Obligatory “wow this blew up”

I’m disappointed it wasn’t written by a student (although inspired by a student). Nonetheless, it’s still a great poem that highlights the structural challenges that a lot of kids deal with today.

Just need to do more digging next time before I title a post with misinformation.

[–] Worst experience you had with a doctor ? neosimmel 8 points ago * (lasted edited 9 days ago) in AskWomen

When I was getting my wisdom teeth out, the nurse cut my lip with some metal tool during prep. It hurt pretty bad. I immediately taste blood. Mind you, I’m not spewing or dripping blood. She cut me and it bled. Definitely noticeable but nothing major.

She stops torturing me with her medieval tools and then the surgeon comes by and just starts working on my mouth! He starts injecting me with a shot and preparing his tools and I’m thinking “wtf dude are you gonna clean out my bleeding cut your nurse gave me before doing oral surgery on me!!” It instead came out as “hey can you please clean my mouth before you work on it, the nurse cut me and it’s bleeding. He looks at me and says “it’s fine” and continues. I interrupt him and touch it with my finger to show him it’s bleeding and he said “if you stop touching it, it won’t bleed”

I was so confused and pissed and in pain & asked more sternly for him to clean it, and then he did it in an over-the-top condescending kind of way

    Edit: words

We got off the plane and exited to the terminal waiting area. Put down all our carry-ons and my dad turned on his Nextel. He tells us my aunt left a ton of voicemails and then checks all of them. While all this was happening I wasnt really focused or concerned about anyone else on the flight because we were still confused at the time about why my aunt thought we were late. Once we walked to baggage, it was dark out through the windows and our baggage area was completely empty. My aunt and dad were arguing, and he was telling her she was confused or must’ve forgotten our arrival time. Until she told us that the people had kept our luggage because it was unclaimed. The workers said our flight number landed 2 and a half hours ago, on time. Not sure where the time loss was located

Well we thought that at first but my dad kept checking w the people at the airport who had our luggage that our flight number was correct and they confirmed it was, but that the flight had landed 2 and a half hours earlier. We knew it was true because the time it was was so much later than the time we were supposed to land, with Ca>TN time change in mind.

Never. But I’m skeptical of alien abductions. I believe there’s definitely other types of beings around our universe, but not sure that they’d abduct us. Who knows though. Anything could be possible

Nope. We double checked our flight number with the guy and he said it was correct. They had been waiting on us for 2 and a half hours while for us, this all happened for us when we immediately got off the plane

Full plane. We waited a couple mins to go to luggage because my dad was turning on his phone and checking all of the messages from my aunt.

I don’t remember watching what anyone else was doing, probably because I was so young + it wasn’t significant enough to think I needed to remember until everything else weird happened.

No other convos with anyone - once we headed to luggage to meet my aunt, the area was completely empty. No people, no luggage.

I remember my dad and step mom being astounded and re-asking the people who gave us our unclaimed luggage if we we had been on the right flight. My aunt started freaking out too and everyone was just kind of laughing in disbelief and everything felt eery. I was confused at the time and didnt really understand what was going on or why or how.

My dad and I still talk about it. He tells people and they never believe him. Keep in mind at the time, my dad was barely 30 and my then step mom was around 28. They were both in law enforcement and of sound mind throughout the whole thing
