WW2 aircraft used them extensively, cooled by airflow so no weighty and vulnerable cooling system.

Space Invaders in the arcades, and once again Soace Invaders on the Atari 2600

That’s a nice kit, I built it out of the box quite a few years back, turned out great.

Unfortunately lost to an in-house kids anti-aircraft ball, like so many of mine. The fun is in the building anyway

I also spent a lot of time playing the game that I’ve now taken as my name, Paradroid, having a top down shooter then having a puzzle mini game to hack enemy robots was unique at the time

‘Destroy Him, My Robots’ that line is still stuck in my head 35 years later, just having speech in a game at home was mind blowing back then

The Good Dinosaur has a disconnect for me in the landscapes are so beautiful but the main characters are so cartoony, it’s almost like they are from a different movie

Had some Revell Ju87 decals that looked like that, about a week in a window and they were fine

Atropos is also the Greek name of the oldest of the Fates.

Atropos or Aisa (/ˈætrəpɒs/; Ancient Greek: Ἄτροπος "without turn"), in Greek mythology, was one of the three Moirai, goddesses of fate and destiny. Her Roman equivalent was Morta.

Atropos was the oldest of the Three Fates, and was known as "the Inflexible One[1]," or "inevitable[citation needed]." It was Atropos who chose the mechanism of death and ended the life of mortals by cutting their threads. She worked along with her two sisters, Clotho, who spun the thread, and Lachesis, who measured the length.

Being the oldest of the three fits the triple incarnation of Winter in the books.

Why am I imagining wild birds lying around the backyard giggling while high on mushrooms?

[–] A man once said if you want a good story just ask any random person if there was ever an event in their life they can not explain. Someone almost always has one weird thing that has happened to them. So reddit, regardless of whatever you believe about the world, what’s your story? paradroid27 8 points ago in AskReddit

When I was in my early 20's one of my friends partner was pregnant. One night I had a dream, my friend was at my house, crying, when I asked what was wrong, he said that (partner) had twins but the boy died. I was speaking to my brother about the dream a few days later and he got a weird look in his face, and then really questioned me on the dream.

He then revealed that my mother had also had a similar dream, except there was something wrong with the girl twin.

The kicker is, nobody except my brother knew that my friends partner was pregnant with twins, all we knew was that she was expecting.

A month later, we got the news, she had delivered a healthy baby girl, but the boy was stillborn.

Still gives me chills 30 years later

I find half the fun is sorting through that big pile to find the pieces.

TIL I may be a psychopath!

[–] What collection did you have as a child that would have been worth a fortune now had your parents not thrown it away? paradroid27 1 points ago in AskReddit

My parents gave me back my Lego box when my kids were old enough to play with it, the pieces are now mixed in with theirs in storage for whenever I have grandkids. Parts from the 1970’s fit perfectly with parts from 40 years later.
