[–] Where can I get jeans that are high rise, and long enough to cover my ankles? (I am 5'8 and 14) pittypat_kittykat 2 points ago in TallGirls

Alloy.com has extra long inseam lengths. So long you might have to hem them, which is something I never thought I’d find in pants. I also love American Eagle’s high rise jean styles and they do long lengths. Both have pretty reasonable pricing, too, and great sales.

[–] This trend is universally bad, but this iteration is the worst I've personally seen to date. pittypat_kittykat 97 points ago in weddingshaming

Now it’s self explanatory. I never would have guessed half of those would ever be asked for. Ew. Have you ever had someone decide not to hire you over that list?

[–] Dating with issues pittypat_kittykat 0 points ago in datingoverthirty

I have absolutely no f-ing idea what you’re trying to say there, much less the point you’re trying to make.

To the larger issue at hand, not dating someone for that reason is obviously your choice to make. But to say those people shouldn’t date until they’re “fixed” is a ridiculous statement that shows little to no understanding of what it means to have a chronic condition.

Staying healthy with a chronic condition takes work every day. That work is what it means to “manage” it. Hopefully whatever treatments are needed are effective enough that a person can appear “normal”, but it requires a lot of effort behind the scenes. Effort that eventually someone they are dating will see.

I agree no one should expect a partner to do the work for them. But there’s no reason someone with a chronic condition that requires daily work shouldn’t date, and they should expect understanding and support from a (potential) partner.

Chronic medical conditions are always an everyday issue, even when an individual is at the peak of health. Its a defining aspect of “chronic.”

[–] What is something every woman should know about her boyfriend? pittypat_kittykat 1 points ago in AskMen

I love that he says he likes wearing diapers and you come back with, how can I know what video game my bf likes

That’s exactly what it’s like! But why does that make it childish or stupid? I’d love a partner who knows both my hopes and dreams -and- how to make my favorite sandwich. The little stuff matters just as much.

Not exactly what I was thinking - I can’t swing by the store and grab him some alone time - but a really important thing to know about an S.O.

Love this. I know his favorite cologne but not sure what scent he’d like most on me.

[–] Trikafta update (1 month) pittypat_kittykat 7 points ago in CysticFibrosis

This is so reassuring! I finally got approval and will have it tomorrow. Now that it’s a sure thing, the doubts are creeping in: what if the results are overblown, what if it doesn’t work for me? I’m still thrilled but the idea of a let down is hard to stomach. So thank you for the updates that it really is all it’s advertised to be.

[–] Changing PICC line dressing at home? pittypat_kittykat 1 points ago in CysticFibrosis

Hah yeah my home health doesn’t do an initial visit anymore for that reason, I won’t see a nurse until it’s time for blood draws.

Having read other replies, I should add that I’ve never replaced the stat lock when I’ve changed my own. That part did seem better left to the professionals and the line remains held in place by something that way.

[–] Changing PICC line dressing at home? pittypat_kittykat 2 points ago in CysticFibrosis

My mom has changed mine regularly over the years and we’ve never had an issue. (PICCs are always in my arms so I can’t do it myself.) We were careful to wipe down the area, keep pets away, etc., even more careful than some home nurses have been honestly.

Out of curiosity though, who do you get your IV drugs through if you don’t have a home healthcare company? How’s that work?

[–] Trikafta Users, what are your mutations? pittypat_kittykat 1 points ago in CysticFibrosis

It only works for patients with at least one F508del mutation. The second mutation can be variable. So I guess I’m curious how many of those who posted are double F508del and how many are single.

[–] Ladies, I'd like your opinion. pittypat_kittykat 8 points ago in datingoverthirty

Jeans and a button down would work for almost any first date. Nice, dark wash jeans and matching belt/shoes (no sneakers, generally) will dress it up a little for an evening date and show effort was put in.

Anything more casual than that would be a bit of a turn off for me, unless it made sense for the date/activity.
