[–] William Barr Can’t Exonerate Donald Trump reverendrambo 1 points ago in politics

Is true consent possible to determine within the power hierarchy of the president of the us and an intern?

[–] Special counsel Mueller has no sealed indictments as Russia probe ends: NBC News reverendrambo 1 points ago in worldnews

I never even slightly suggested the conclusion you came too.

he is going to investigate exactly who and why made the stuff up.

You suppose that the allegations against him were made up. Just because an investigation doesn't turn up enough proof to find a crime doesn't mean that the underlying allegations were made up out of thin air. There were credible concerns, they were investigated, and it was determined (according to Barr) that they did not merit being considered a crime.

I'm still waiting for the full report. If Comey's exoneration of Clinton was not enough for the But Her Emails crowd, then neither is Barr's summary.

The investigation came out of real concern, and divulged legitimate crimes committed by numerous individuals. Just because Trump and his campaign weren't pinned to a conspiracy doesn't mean the investigation was fruitless or malicious.

Did some Congress people put the investigation in a context that ultimately didn't pan out? Perhaps. Again we need to see the full report. There are many suspicious things that have been made public that demand explanation.

Do you not know that the illicitly gained Manafort assets that were seized more than covered the costs of the investigation?

Are you suggesting that every investigation that comes up empty is inherently wrongfully done?

And I am not saying this investigation came up empty. 30+ indictments is substantial

Suspicious behavior warrants investigation, whether or not actual crimes are committed.

[–] The best part? I decided to answer some emails while waiting for my new flight because I was bored. My boss complimented my work ethic for going the extra mile on the weekend, then told me to stop working. Quadruple win. reverendrambo 8 points ago in AdviceAnimals

Something similar happened to me and my wife once. Got bumped off an overbooked flight and were each given a voucher worth much more than the ticket. Caught the next flight in 2 hours to our new connecting flight. When we arrived at the connecting gate, our original connection had been delayed, so we were able to catch it. Had we made our first flight, we would have just waited around for the same amount of time, only this way we got flight vouchers.

Did you know Manafort was committing bank fraud and acting as a foreign agent while he was on the campaign?

Don't forget the 20+ indictments against Russian nationals for interfering in the election, regardless of whether they conspired with Americans.

This investigation was well worth it's time and money for the defense of America

Nice try, idiot. No one on either side is arguing that. You're just trying to poke the fire.

I think that's actually more legal advice to prevent any potential argument that he influenced Barr's reading and summary after the report was delivered.

    and Rosenstein

Rod was part of this letter, though. So he either signed off on it all g with Barr, or His name was used disingenuously to lend credit to the summary

The AG took it upon himself to review the information with Rosenstein and they together declared that he did not obstruct.

I can't decide if we're going to be blindsided by a scathing rebuke or just a simple "nothing further happened than what's in the current indictments"

[–] Happy no collusion day! Trump supporters take to streets of New York reverendrambo 3 points ago in politics

Unless the press secretary is flat out lying, not just her refular spin, they've stated the president has not received the report.

Of course he'll be surrounded by lawyers since it was known on Friday the report is complete. They're drafting responses and coaching him based on whatever comes out.

I don't think the White House has received the report yet, so their silence isn't a reaction to the report. It actually shows how much they don't know because they're not risking embarrassment if their spin is wrong

[–] [WP] You can teleport your SO anywhere instantly, and your SO can do the same for you. One day you get in an arguement. reverendrambo 74 points ago in WritingPrompts

The frigid air stabbed with each breath. My feet were quickly growing numb in the icy snow. We glared at each other as we both shivered intensely. Several Sherpas and their clients passed us by, looking at us strangely, like they couldn't understand why a young couple would be standing in bathing suits near the summit of Mt. Everest.

    Finally, I broke down.

"Diane, w-we have t-t-o go b-back. We'll d-die here." My teeth nearly broke due to their chattering.

    "Then s-say your s-s-orry!"

    "Okay! I'm sorry! Let's g-g-go!"

Suddenly I was standing on a beach with white sand and calm, clear waters. I could feel my feet thawing as I dug them in the warm sand. The Bahamas, probably. Diane loved it there. Shit!

With a simple thought, I teleported her beside me. I felt a draft of cold air leap off her as she stood, still shivering.

"You asshole! You left me there!"

"I did not! You're right here!"

"You forgot about me, you always do this!"

"Diane, I could't help it! You put me there in the first place. What did you expect? My brain needed to thaw."

A couple of women in bikinis walked passed us, staring at us in the midst of another verbal altercation. We had grown accustomed to strange looks as we often found ourselves out of place.

"I can't take this anymore, Ryan. We're done."

"What? You're ending this, after three years of our lives invested together?"

"Let's just get out of here and move on."

I expected to be teleported back to our apartment, but we just stood in front of each other. Awkwardly.

"... why haven't you sent me back yet?" I asked.

"I'm... I'm trying. It's not working!" she replied.

"Oh shit, we can only teleport our SO... but we just broke up. We're stuck here! What have you done?!"

"We'll just have to... buy plane tickets I guess," Diane said in a resigned tone.

"At least you didn't dump me on top of that fucking mountain."

[–] Should Americans be worried about food supply due to all the flooding in the Midwest? reverendrambo 3 points ago in NoStupidQuestions

I agree somewhat. This is a particularly unprecedented level of flooding, so while flooding happens every year, as far as I'm aware it is rarely if ever to this extent. My wife used to live in the midwest so that's where I'm getting that notion from, as well as from media reports.

I do think that due to the ease of access to footage and reports, we often overthink the impact it may have on us. At the same time, it helps to put ourselves in those shoes. If I had just read "major flooding has occurred in the midwest" I might go "hmm that stinks" but seeing the footage and hearing stories it helps me remember that real people with real lives are being affected by this. That's just my two cents, though.

[–] Why should my bad credit score impact my car insurance? Rashida Tlaib's bill fixes that. reverendrambo 10 points ago in politics

Your credit score is not based on how much money you have, it's based on how you manage the money you do have. You can be rich with bad credit and poor with good credit.

[–] Why should my bad credit score impact my car insurance? Rashida Tlaib's bill fixes that. reverendrambo 7 points ago in politics

Insurance covers more than just your driving ability. It's a risk management scheme. You could be a perfectly good driver and still need to use insurance. If you've ever been in a wreck due to an uninsured driver, you probably know this all too well.
