[–] Driving on Salvia... This video is 10 years old and gets me every time. robclouth 1 points ago in videos

Yup, exactly the same for me. Like being inside a huge rotating cylinder covered with copies of the room.

Buying up property as an investment and not living there isn't a new thing.

The US has more billionaires. I'm not defending the practice by any means. I'm just saying this isn't a chinese thing. It's a rich people thing. Same is happening in London with other foreign investors.

This isn't a Chinese phenomenon, it's a rich person phenomenon.

Oh my lord some of the stories in the there are such mind fucks. The one with the neural lace that drifts out of phase with the owner...

[–] At finding excuses for poor gun control robclouth 1 points ago in therewasanattempt

The war on drugs and trickle down economics are very different. Drugs were already illegal for a start and much easier to bring in to a country undetected, and the demand is always there. You can't reuse cocaine. You don't get addicted to guns. Trickle down economics is just not the same thing, I don't know why you're trying to use it as an example.

As for the torture shit, you're fucked up man. Not sure what to say to that. Please don't end up with a Wikipedia page, the bad kind.

[–] At finding excuses for poor gun control robclouth 1 points ago in therewasanattempt

Ok! I haven't got anything more to say to someone who would watch the world burn just to keep a piece of metal designed for killing other people. See ya.

[–] At finding excuses for poor gun control robclouth 1 points ago in therewasanattempt

Used for self defense against...let me guess...more guns?

[–] At finding excuses for poor gun control robclouth 1 points ago in therewasanattempt

If it's easier for normal citizens to get guns, it's easier for criminals to get guns, since all criminals start out as normal citizens. The opposite is also true. Harder to get guns in general, harder for criminals to get guns. Doesn't seem that complicated.

[–] At finding excuses for poor gun control robclouth 1 points ago in therewasanattempt

Ok, assuming for some reason the NSA stops tracking everyone and the army don't just shut down your GPS, cellphones, internet access and drone strike your leaders homes within the first 24 hours....you'd really be willing to sacrifice everything you own, the lives of millions of people, the comforts of living in a functioning, modern society...just because you like guns?

Who would be in control after such a mess if Russia decided to step in? Have you really thought this through?

[–] At finding excuses for poor gun control robclouth 1 points ago in therewasanattempt

Try doing a mass shooting with one of those.

[–] At finding excuses for poor gun control robclouth 1 points ago in therewasanattempt

The aim isn't to find and destroy the last gun in the states. You just need to make it significantly more difficult to get them. Less guns -> less illegal guns -> more expensive illegal guns -> criminals have less access to guns.

[–] What is your strongest held opinion? robclouth -4 points ago in AskReddit

They aren't gonna nuke you. They're gonna cut off your internet, water, food and everything else you need to survive, then track you using the best military hardware on the planet, raid your home in the middle of the night and shoot you in the head while you sleep.

A Glock isn't gonna help with that. What do you imagine? Storming a military guarded town hall with handguns?

[–] Lions fight while eating a water buffalo, then it casually walks off robclouth 7 points ago in natureismetal

No fuckin way. A wild life for a prey species is filled with fear and disease. I'd prefer a free range farm upbringing and a quick painless death any day

[–] Florida man = madlad robclouth 1 points ago in madlads

I mean, they didn't introduce themselves so they aren't the bastards here. While I agree they have to be culled, let's try to remember who the real jerks are.

[–] Time to stir the hornet's nest robclouth 1 points ago in coolguides

Theres a good chance that home invader may also have a firearm, or a weapon of his own.

That's exactly why it's a stupid idea to confront them. Someone's gonna get shot, and there's decent chance it won't be the invader. Not worth it over a TV.

If you have guns you end up needing them. That's the silly thing about your saying.

[–] Time to stir the hornet's nest robclouth 1 points ago in coolguides

If someone broke into your house would you just let them take what they want and leave?

Yes that's exactly what I'd do. I'd call the cops, get some kind of weapon and hide behind a locked door. Get insurance. No material object is worth the risk of your own life, your families or the intruder.

If they were worried about getting shot than they shouldn't have broken into my house. I've never heard of anyone defending home invaders before this is so strange.

I'm not defending home invaders, I'm saying that you shooting them (attempting to kill them essentially) over a possession seems fucked up to me, and probably to most people you'll encounter outside of the US. You guys love guns so much. That's the strange thing here.

[–] Time to stir the hornet's nest robclouth 0 points ago in coolguides

Because the overwhelming majority of the times someone breaks into your house it's to steal something or find money/drugs. Not to fuck you up. Obviously that happens rarely but if you're worried about that, you should be much more worried about slipping in the shower.

[–] Time to stir the hornet's nest robclouth 2 points ago in coolguides

I don't know why I'm getting into this because it never goes anywhere...but how can you possibly use family and property in the same sentence like that. No-one should ever die for stealing your fuckin TV man.

[–] old woman randomly knocking over scooters robclouth 2 points ago in PublicFreakout

Interesting. The last mile is a bigger problem in the states though due to the dependence on cars spreading people out over larger distances, and less bike-friendly urban areas. I think the scooters are great. But I've heard from a lot of people that the fact you can leave them anywhere is annoying.

New York's subway is fucking awful! It's a mess. Overly complicated, old, dirty. And it must be managed really bad too if it's losing so much money.

The London tube makes 32p on every pound spent. Yes it's expensive, but leagues ahead of the NY system. And by world standards the London tube isn't even great either.
