[–] Northern Scotland will lose £320 million in EU funding post Brexit robclouth 1 points ago in europe

Calling you selfish was too far, I'm sorry for that. I know you're not a white imperialist, there's very few of them and actually bumping into one on the internet is pretty unlikely. I just think it's a bad idea to kick the hornet's nest when most experts are telling you it's a bad idea. That's all. Have a nice day.

    TTIP and the NHS FYI

[–] Northern Scotland will lose £320 million in EU funding post Brexit robclouth 1 points ago in europe

Think about it, the greatest economic crisis the world has seen (the Great Depression) ended, I’m sure we can whether this storm too.

Oh lord. When you say "we" you're talking about me and you. Single parents on minimum wage are gonna struggle. The NHS will suffer as its EU nurses start going home and funding is cut. I'm sorry, but you're just selfish if you think people dying because they can't get an appointment with their GP is worth kicking out the Polish.

Regarding fishing, stocks are based on EU research, with EU funding to decide what's a reasonable amount to fish. The UK won't be funding any research that's for sure. And they'll sell rights to foreign companies to fish in our seas anyway. It's very unlikely the fish will better managed. Probably worse.

Companies are driven by profit, not agenda

That's exactly the problem. Even wetherspoons would leave if they had any business abroad lol.

Let's start WW3 then right? From the ashes we'll build our own private Utopia. Just the pure blood Brits, forever and ever, amen.

Sorry ft is a paywall too oops, I think you get one free view or something. But its using the official government studies. I can send you as many reports as you like tho, the results are always the same. 0.5 - 3% drop in GDP with the best outcome. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/nov/28/uk-significantly-worse-off-under-all-brexit-scenarios-official-forecast-gdp This doesn't have a paywall.

You're not living on the edge or you wouldn't be having long discussions with strangers on Reddit. I didn't ask what "class" you are.

"It's not like all companies will just pull out of Britain" thank fuck! Is that really your bar? That not all companies will pull out?

And political freedom? To do what? Kick more immigrants out of the UK, or start fucking up the environment even more? Allow companies to abuse peoples data again and start using nasty chemicals in our food? Bring back curvy bananas?

The EU isn't perfect but it's the only thing we've got against a world of superpowers and global problems like climate change. "Great" Britain is a thing if the past mate. Time to start thinking about the future. Reform the EU, don't destroy it.

    You'll be alright tho!

Paywall for that study. Yes, I did say hard brexit. Some people still want that, unbelievably.

Edit: here's a good summary. Not looking good. Me and you will be fine though, making assumptions based on reddits demographic. Shame about the people who are already living on the edge.

IMF estimates put a hard brexit at a 6% GDP loss. That's like 160 billion. 8 billion doesnt seem like much in comparison.

[–] Who needs an alarm clock on Sunday morning when you have a PLANK WAR going off at the neighbors robclouth 1 points ago in Wellthatsucks

A pretty nasty classist word basically meaning a poor person who's been shat on by society every day since birth.

[–] When someone says "I miss you" and you don't miss them, what do you reply? robclouth 5 points ago in AskReddit

Because ultimately after everything is said and done, being honest is 99.9% of the time the best thing to do. Getting into a habit of saying stuff you don't mean just to please people can quickly go wrong. "I miss you" might turn into "I love you", and if you're lying about that too eventually you're gonna fuck someone over...and it probably won't be you.

It's not being mean, it's acknowledging the fact that people feel different things at different times. That's just life. Being honest doesn't been brutally honest though, there's ways of saying stuff obviously.

Imagine some random dudes coming into your "home" at night. It's likely that the homeless person would be as scared of you as you were of them.

[–] Just yanking the chain robclouth 2 points ago in Wellthatsucks

Yeah I think punishments are effective for small crimes. Unless they're looking for the thrill of maybe getting caught haha.

But it doesn't make sense for certain serious crimes like you said. And before someone jumps in and says "wait until someone murders your child and then see how you feel about punishment"...that's exactly why the victims family shouldn't decide the outcome.

[–] Just yanking the chain robclouth 15 points ago in Wellthatsucks

Take a murder case. Either they did it by accident in which case the knowledge they killed someone is punishment enough. Or they knowingly killed someone and it was either in a rage and they have anger management issues (rehabilitation) or was premeditated and have some serious mental health problems (rehabilitation).

People who had a shitty childhood and are surrounded with general shittyness are more likely to commit crime. Should they be punished for having shitty parents?

The focus should always be on rehabilitation and keeping dangerous people out of society. Never punishment, because basically you end up punishing people for being poor or stupid or desperate or depressed or being neglected as a child.

You proved that California has a registration rate of 101 percent of the age-eligable citizenry, not that illegal immigrants represent that extra 1%.

[–] What is the "it's not a bug, it's a feature" of your existence? robclouth 1 points ago in AskReddit

Yeah, I mean I can barely do it unless I've taken some kind of hallucinagen. But I can vaguely do it.

[–] What is the "it's not a bug, it's a feature" of your existence? robclouth 1 points ago in AskReddit

That's not right. If they can see full floating 3d models then 99.999% of the population has aphantasia. Your brain has good reason to keep your imagination fuzzy - so you don't act on your random thoughts like they are real. That's just hallucinating.

After reading about it, it seems to be a new thing with very little research behind it, mostly popularised by a YouTuber. I doesn't seem very scientific tbh. Kind of like ASMR.

Ignoring a troll is the worst thing you can do to them. A troll's comment should stay on 1 upvote.

[–] Times cartoon: Brexiteers these days robclouth 1 points ago in europe

Me talking about something I know nothing about as though I'm an expert, then getting defensive when someone says I'm wrong.

    Something like that no?

Yeah totally. Great read, loads of lols. Check it out! The was some free speech stuff in 2013. Dig deeper...

    Here we go...

I've written plenty more comments if you wanna dig through all of them. I've been on here for 6 years. That'll be a good way for you to pass the weekend!

[–] Why the hell am I being charged for not logging in? robclouth 1 points ago in assholedesign

This is going to end now. Although it's kind of fun, we've gone into insult territory and nothing useful will be said now. You know, you genuinely made be do more research into the topic and as I said several times, my position isn't as black and white on such a complex issue as yours seems to be.

As a general internet tip, your comments just ooze a certain smugness that makes people defensive. You wanna keep people open and pliable if you actually want to change their minds about an issue you care about. Otherwise you're doing nothing to help your cause.

    Goodbye stranger!

Ouch. Your cold, sharp reasoning cuts like a knife mate. You're like a logic surgeon. /r/iamverysmart
