[–] [Haiku] How to get a mouse out of an exhaust. robclouth -2 points ago in youtubehaiku

Oh god what have I done. I wasn't comparing slavery to killing a mouse. It was a bad example that I'm probably gonna regret when the downvote police get here. I was simply refuting that specific sentence the other person made, saying that something is morally justified because we've been doing it a long time. It was kind of out of context and is more appropriate to a discussion about ethics than a Reddit post of a fucking mouse in an exhaust pipe. Wrong place wrong time.

I mean, you don't know the story either but claim that there was no other way. Also it it clearly alive in the video.

I actually didn't compare the two, my argument just wasn't clear enough. You seem (I might be mistaken) to suggest that killing a mouse is justified morally because other animals do it, and because we've done it for a long time.

Animals eat live babies, so it's ok for us to do it? And we've tortured people to death for a long time. So it's ok to continue doing it?

You're making too many assumptions about who I am. If the mouse wasn't dead (and it seems like way) I don't see this video as any different from catching one and taping a firework to it then uploading the video. Not what I'd choose to do. Other people are different.

Anyway, internet discussions never go anywhere (so why do I join them??) so have a nice day.

We were doing slavery for thousands of years too. Now we're better than that. Yes, of course slavery isn't the same as willfully injuring a mouse, but saying something is justified because it's been done for a long time doesn't hold water.

There are definitely other ways to get the mouse out, they just picked the one that would make the funniest video.

[–] That's random Twitter guy, needed this and I hope you all do too. robclouth 2 points ago in wholesomememes

That's an incredibly healthy outlook. Independence and self-drive are attractive. And life satisfaction comes from many things. Imagine on your deathbed realising that your only satisfaction in life came from someone else...kind of lazy no?

[–] That's random Twitter guy, needed this and I hope you all do too. robclouth 2 points ago in wholesomememes

You know what, I don't see this tweet as wholesome. It's putting too much responsibility on this hypothetical future love to make everything alright. Make yourself alright first, then the love of your life will pop up when you least expect it. Don't wait for it to happen. There are MANY other ways to satisfaction in life in the meantime. Don't expect another person to hand it to you on a plate. When the times comes, you'll share the plate that you made yourself with someone you love.

Basically don't listen to anything anyone tells you on here and do your own research because most people have old and/or incorrect information, but to summarize: your memes will be safe.

No-one cares anymore. They've found something to grumble about that everyone agrees with so they're happy.

[–] Article 13 has just been approved robclouth 1 points ago in europe

It says you're liable if you don't make your best effort to take it down. Best effort doesn't include running your business into the ground by trying to invent some AI parody detection algo. The countries just won't legislate that.

[–] Article 13 has just been approved robclouth 2 points ago in europe

I don't know why people think that best effort means that you have to do something that's impossible, thus destroying your business.

This comes to the conclusion that it hasn't really changed much up or down by country, but by population it's increasing because in the most populous countries it's increasing.

The email comparison doesn't really hold up because ISPs don't make a shit ton of cash by sharing those illegal emails and filling them with ads.

I really enjoy it. I do sometimes find myself laughing rather than scared. Especially in Spiral. It just gets so bloody ridiculous. Thoroughly enjoyable though.

[–] La catalanofòbia és estructural, l'alerta de l'informe anual del Síndic robclouth 0 points ago in catalunya

Disagreeing with the actions of the Catalan government or the independence movement isn't anti-catalan, just like how disagreeing with the actions of the state of Israel isn't anti-Semitic.

If you can't see that then you're living in a bubble that you can no longer clearly see through, and you need to heavily rethink your beliefs.

Go through them one by one, and try to make comparisons with other beliefs you have, in related but different topics. If there are contradictions then you need to decide if those beliefs are accurate, or that you've heard them so many times from influential people in your life that you believe them without even questioning them.

[–] Catalans on trial: The EU has got Madrid's back, no matter how hard police hit civilians robclouth 1 points ago in catalunya

Just to inform any non-UK readers: the telegraph is a historically right-wing, anti-europe and pro-brexit paper, and uses any opportunity to try to cast the EU in a bad light. Read sceptically.

[–] Gabriella Sharp, 36. Known in the rave scene as Glowstick Gabby, she went to her first rave in '02 and never left. Nearly 20 years of UV facepaint and glowstick accidents have left her skin permanently emitting a garish neon light. robclouth 1 points ago in thispersondoesntexist

Maybe she's out there somewhere. Some say that late at night if the place and time are just right, a faint neon glow can be seen in the corner of your eye and distant beats can be heard. They say that if you follow the light and music, you'll find Gabby at the most banging party you've ever seen. It's just a legend though, probably.
