    This is an anticyclonic tornado.

    Anticyclonic tornado fun facts:

    • An anticyclonic tornado is a tornado which rotates in a clockwise direction in the Northern Hemisphere and a counterclockwise direction in the Southern Hemisphere.

    • The term is a naming convention denoting the anomaly from normal rotation which is cyclonic in upwards of 98 percent of tornadoes.

    • Various processes can produce an anticyclonic tornado. Most often they are satellite tornadoes of larger tornadoes which are directly associated with the tornadocyclone and mesocyclone.

    • The first anticyclonic tornado associated with a mesoanticyclone was spotted on WSR-88D weather radar in Sunnyvale, California May 4, 1998. The tornado was an F-2 on the Fujita Scale

Edit: Ridiculous, hard-to-believe-it's-real photo of an anticyclonic tornado

8 tornadoes reportedly touched down on June 4th, 2015 in or near Simla, Colorado. Apparently the guy leading the caravan of tourists knows his radar as evidence by this highlight reel from that day

    Hey u/BrendanQuine - r/nevertellmetheodds mod here

Wanted to send a sincere thanks for being an awesome OP yesterday in the sub. Great follow up video today here as well. Keep up the good work, and if there's a medium left over I'd be glad to pay shipping and then some to get one of these to Brooklyn.

I love this sub and have been on board since day one. Your work here means something to me!

    Thanks! Means a lot :-)

The only quality difference from this and other posts on this sub is B&W

Totally appreciate that, but not the way I see it or thought about the source material. For me, this submission is about composition not fidelity.

There's nothing in the title about B&W. Not sure how you arrived at that conclusion? If you look at his website I linked to in another comment, you'll see Mike is a Wedding/Fine Arts photographer.... who doubles as a storm chaser.

Chad Cowen did. Here's the source tweet

He's one of the best storm chasing timelapsers around. Check out this supercell he captured in North Dakota

As anyone would, I grew up with an understanding of Desire Paths, but didn't know it was a thing until stumbling on /r/DesirePath and /r/DesirePaths. Also, fascinating the main scar is only a few yards wide. Must have been a rope style tornado.
