[–] How smooth this drawing is sweetcuppingcakes 19 points ago in oddlysatisfying

Same, when flipping through channels as a kid I'd stop on Blues Clues sometimes just watch the simple little drawings. To this day I have no idea why it was so satisfying, but this gif reminded me of it.

Not sure how y'all can think this is creepy

What's the part about yachts with tiny yachts inside mean? Is that a thing?

    That didn't happen.

...but even if it was, it was only a CIVIL CASE, like Obama's

And if it did, it wasn't that bad

...but it was done correctly by a lawyer and there would not even be a fine

And if it was, that's not a big deal

Lawyer's liability if he made a mistake, not me

And if it is, it's not my fault

Why thank you! I heard a cover last night on a Pandora Christmas station (I don't get it either) and that line stuck out like a sore thumb to me.

My number 1 rule is don't ever feel dumb. This game can be brutally difficult at first, but you will get it. Don't feel bad if you don't pick up on everything yourself. Take inspiration from this subreddit and YouTube. There are specific techniques and game mechanics that aren't always obvious to newcomers that I only learned after seeing lots of other people's solutions, and often having people here spell them out to me explicitly.

Also, the "Fur Elise" solutions you see here are almost certainly not the creator's first tries. A lot of these people have probably spent hundreds of hours with the game, so you can't really compare your 3-note "Hot Crossed Buns" with that.

I've been playing for two months and I still can't optimize some of the puzzles as much as the people here do. To hold yourself to that standard at the beginning will just lead to madness.

Do your best, have fun, be proud of your creations, and never be afraid to share or ask for help. : )

This is exactly what I did. I went through the entire campaign, often struggling a lot, and made tons of really shitty solutions just to finish it and get to the end.

Then the real fun started. I went back to the very beginning and have been doing every puzzle over again until I've optimized them three times: once for space, once for cost, and once for cycles.

My main goal isn't to get the 100% best solution possible (though I still try if I get close and think I can!), but rather to just get into the top percentile, and only then do I move on to the next one.

Sometimes it can take me days on just one puzzle! And sometimes I'll have to come to Reddit or YouTube for inspiration if I'm at a complete mental block. But it's incredibly satisfying once it's done and I get to move on.

[–] After two days of working on Surrender Flare, this unholy mess of arms is the best I can do. (21 cycles) sweetcuppingcakes 3 points ago in opus_magnum

The most obvious place to shave a few cycles would be the bottom where I'm wasting cycles to position it to go into the bin, but it's been many hours and there is now steam coming from the top of my head.

I'm able to easily move the bin to one side to skip that needless positioning cycle, but then the other side can't reach it and I have to use more cycles to move it over.

Also, I know it's been done in 17, but screeeeeew that. : )
