[–] TIFU by making an "undercover/underage alcohol buyer" cry while they were testing a restaurant for compliance. zT1TzbaT 1 points ago in tifu

I suppose. I just can't empathize with his frame of mind of "My friend, the bartender, said no, so I'm really going to personally attack you, you disgusting person who is not the object of my desire...oh shit. I made her cry, and she was helping check to make sure that bars follow the law."

He had a tortoise shell! I love tortoise shell cats.

Werner Herzog did something similar with his shoe. Only he cooked it in some kind of sauce, if I remember correctly.

I mean, not to be a jerk, but Ryan Reynolds initially took a pay cut to be Deadpool in the first Deadpool movie...

When I was a kid, I always wanted to work at Blockbuster. I loved movies, I wanted the chance to check out free movies, I wanted to recommend movies that people might like, etc.

When I was old enough to apply, I did so constantly. They ignored me for years until I hounded them enough that they invited me to a group interview. They asked me if I had any sales experience so that I could sell useless candy discounts and when I said that I didn't, they pretty much ignored me until I left. After that heartache, four years later, I got to watch them go out of business.

Fuck you, Blockbuster Video. I hope your remaining Alaska location gets raided by wolves and burns to the ground.

Looks like they didn't finish killing whatever is in your sandwich.

[–] What supporting character ended up stealing the show/movie/game? zT1TzbaT 1 points ago in AskReddit

I didn't think anybody would say this. He went from occasionally showing up here and there in the season to being one of the main characters.

[–] What is the shittiest advice you've ever gotten? zT1TzbaT 1 points ago in AskReddit

I wish that is the advice I had been given instead- treat a college degree like something you need to supplement with experience and certs.

Same here. If I have kids, I won't discourage them from going to college, but they will be getting an earful about what I did wrong and how they need to do better if I go that route.

Pretty much every adult when I was going to college.

"It doesn't matter what your college degree is in, so long as you have a college degree it will make your life amazing!"

Great work! I love the way it looks.

Damn, the obituaries are getting intense.

[–] What are book/s that you keep seeing as recommendations, which you found to be awful? zT1TzbaT 2 points ago in books

That's the problem I have with a lot of theater, cinema and literature that came out in 1950s/early 1960s America. These were such rigid times that if you showed somebody having any kind of personal problem or oafishly trying to dissect their feelings, it got heralded as a "Great American Classic". Catcher in the Rye, On the Road, Death of a Salesman and Rebel Without a Cause all got way more acclaim than they deserved because of that.

I've only read a handful of his novels, but I agree. Amazing concepts, but the writing he uses can be heavy-handed.
