[–] Nice one, Bernie zombychicken -4 points ago in Conservative

That's a completely different thing though. When he says he wants money out of politics, he means he doesn't want big corporations donating millions of dollars to campaigns. Promising government benefits isn't bribery.

[–] What's the most overrated book? zombychicken 3 points ago in books

Harry Potter. Every book's plot is solved by some bullshit magic that they pull out of nowhere and never use again: The time turner, the polyjuice potion (though I admit they used it more than once, there were many more situations where it would have been helpful), that one good luck potion, horcruxes, the room of requirement, and portkeys, just to name a few.

[–] Is it time for the Democrats to admit Bernie Sanders is their best hope against Trump? zombychicken 5 points ago in politics

ITT: people who don't know the purpose of super delegates, don't know how polls work, and don't know anything about how elections work.

[–] [FIRST IMPRESSIONS] Eminem - Kamikaze zombychicken -3 points ago in hiphopheads

I have legitimately never listened to a rap album in its entirety before today. I normally listen to prog/classic rock so I’ve been trying to broaden my music tastes recently. Decided to listen to the first song on this album and holy FUCK it was so good I listened to the full album twice in a row. I barely know any of the history between Eminem and the people he disses here, but you don’t need to have a PHD to know that he verbally fucked everyone. This album is fantastic.

[–] Bernie Sanders, The Bum Who Wants Your Money - "It took him **40 years** to collect his first steady paycheck — and it was a government check." - "Has as much as $65k of credit card debt" zombychicken 1 points ago in Conservative

Come on guys lets not slam him for things that have nothing to do with his political beliefs. Who gives a shit about what he called his father. Who cares about some of this personal shit. Sure, if it's something political, by all means, shit on him. But it looks like we are grasping at hairs with posts like this.

[–] What's the most overrated book? zombychicken 15 points ago in books

God, the Catcher in the Rye is the most overrated book of all time. I know somebody already said this, but I just need a little rant. That book has no plot. Some kid walks around New York for days complaining about how terrible his rich ass life is. He goes to an expensive-as-fuck boarding school, walks away because "it's terrible" and does nothing with his life. Yet all I hear is "It's so relatable!" "That's how I felt when I was a kid too!". Well you must have been a miserable bitch.

Did everyone conveniently forget about the travel ban? The $2 trillion national debt increase that came with that tax break? The 32 indictments related to the Mueller investigation? Separating children from parents at the border with no plan on what to do with said children while they are subject to abuse by the people housing them? What about this useless trade war with our closest allies? I’m all for giving Trump credit where credit is due, but you can’t pretend that this administration has been all sunshine and rainbows.

[–] Bernie voter here. Can someone tell me why he is so hated in this sub? It seems to me that he and neolibs agree on a lot of things? Is there one particular issue? Or is it several issues? zombychicken 4 points ago in neoliberal

I feel like Krugman doesn't adequately explain why he doesn't agree with Bernie. It seems like he just says "Yeah Bernie sounds great, but if you look into his policy it's actually not that great." What are the things that aren't great and that won't work?

I also don't think it's fair for him to say that Bernie exaggerated the potential gains of his policy. I never really ever heard Bernie saying how everything is going to be amazing if his policy is implemented, or at least that's not the what I took away if he did say that.

I also agree with Krugman when he says that ad hominem attacks are unproductive, and I think for the most part Bernie didn't really attack people personally (save for things that were factually true). His supporters did engage in ad hominem attacks and the like, but I think it's unfair to judge Bernie by his most passionate supporters. There are many Hillary supporters in this sub who engage in ad hominem attacks on Bernie supporters. Should I judge Hillary based on their behavior?

"It is time to bring our neighbors out of the shadows. It is time to give them legal status. It is time to create a reasonable path to citizenship."

"I, myself, am the son of an immigrant. Their story, my story, our story, is a story of America. It is a story that continues to this day in families all across the United States."

Both of those are quotes from Bernie. Why do you think he hates immigrants? I've also already admitted that I disagree with him on trade. And I'm gonna need a source saying that his economics are worse than Trumps'.

[–] US deports 95-year-old Nazi to Germany. Now if we could just impeach & deport the 72-year-old one in the White House. zombychicken 12 points ago in The_Mueller

The Italian fascists openly preached violence and brutally murdered hundreds of thousands of dissenters during Mussolini's rise to power. Spanish fascists fought a civil war during their rise to power and killed half a million people. He's not a fascist, and to call him one diminishes those persecuted by actual fascists.

[–] Rick Riordan fucking snaps zombychicken -9 points ago in MurderedByWords

It's hardly a contrived example when it's legally enforceable in New York. I believe this is also the case in Canada now.

[–] OP talked about the French people in Brussels on r/Belgium zombychicken 1 points ago in ShitAmericansSay

I wasn’t claiming that they were pretending to be French Nationals. I was saying that they said they were French. Perhaps they meant that they are culturally French. Don’t know why I’m getting downvotes for relaying what some guys said to me.

[–] What's your unpopular Pink Floyd opinion? zombychicken 0 points ago in pinkfloyd

I agree with your last one. Echoes sounds kind of out of place and doesn't really know what it wants to be.

[–] What question will immediately divide Reddit into two polarized groups? zombychicken -5 points ago in AskReddit

Objectively it is pretty fucked up, but I still don't really care. Still works the same.

I’m constantly amazed how on a sub devoted to a guy preaching a nuanced view of the world, so many people fail to act out the basic tenants nuanced thinking.
